Zero Boot Animation - AT&T, Rogers HTC One X, Telstra One XL

how would one show what the phone is doing during boot, ie no animation. Typically animations hide the textual output to the screen as to what the phone is doing during boot.
....after all it is a linux variant, at least from what I have seen so far
deleteing the ATT_boot....stock android text pops up, I would assume thats firmware based (untouchable)

I just released a small update to my old rom about 30 minutes ago....
But now its going to be all about this puppy.
Edit: I've managed to extract my boot image, and am doing a thorough comparison of the 1.73 rogers boot img and the 1.68 at&t boot img... might be able to get something similar to paulobrien's 'INSECURE BOOT AND ROOT' happening.
That is great, Looking forward to this
Is there differences on between One X for AT&T and OneXL
I know only that One XL in Asia is running on LTE1800/2600Mhz Band
Will it be a problem when both model are running on different 4G system and frequency?

Should just need a different radio.
The hardware is the same and ROMs should be cross-compatible, but we'll have to wait and see.

Custom splash screens...

I noticed Evo lte has custom splash screens that hide the red HTCdev message. Think this method would workforus? If so we need to get our splash on!

From what I see the Evo LTE uses the same partition for the splash screen as the One X so I'd say there method would work for us.

Thanks.. Maybe i'll get the nerve to try it. I bricked the other day doing simple stuff i didnt think would matter...It did matter! Tried to install CWM through the recovery manager app. No warnings or nothing. Said it installed correctly. Reboot and i'm in emergency download mode.. Bricked
So, who wants to be a brave soul and try it?
i took the plunge awhile ago

Your custom boot image would need to have a red background where the text appears to actually 'hide' the HTCDev boot message.

Someone can correct me if I'm wrong but I believe it's perfectly normal if you happen to be on a deodexed ROM.
I'm on xi40 which is odex correct?
Sent from my HTC One X
The updating Android thing is normal. I get it on some roms and not on others. Never bothered me. I do have a question though. How did you change your splash screen? I didn't think this was possible yet.

It's definitely possible. You just have to make damn sure you have the major stuff, IE boot.img and framework smali trees edited/patched correctly for our phone. Otherwise, we allllllllllllll die.

It is possible, but it is a lot harder. It's a lot easier to port roms such as from the EVO 4G LTE, One S, etc. This is mainly because the interior of the endeavoru is a lot different so it takes a lot of work to sort out modules, libs etc

LOL mmcblk0p33 is system (os) and mmcblk0p35 is data. Make sure its correct in your script.. I can take an endeavor ROM and change 3 lines and it'll flash and turn on.. but boot loop, so that might be your issue

Not to be mean but you intend to try and start deving but you can't tell the difference between a tegra one x and a krait one x?
Slithered from my HTC One X+ running Viper XL+
Check the build.prop under system/
If it's a for the XL you should find multiple references to evita.
For extra points you'll find reference to the cpu architecture.
Remember this is just a guide on what to check for - I am not responsible if you brick your device because someone wanted to play an elaborate prank in which they changed all the details in the build.prop.

If you see
package_extract_file("boot.img", "/dev/block/mmcblk0p4"); in the updater script.. its definitely not a ROM for the XL. Unless the dev wanted you to brick on purpose
