Change Home button action in rom - General Questions and Answers

Hello, I create the firmware for your device. (froyo 2.2.1, RK2818)
I am a noob and I have a question.
The official firmware had a problematic launcher, which I changed to LauncherPro. Unfortunately, the button "home" is still trying to run the old launcher and that leads to device is rebooted. Where is the firmware can be changed?
This method do not offer.
Settings -> Applications -> Manage Applications -> All -> Launcher -> Clear data.
What should I do to let the button "Home" start launcherPro after flashing? What should I change in Rom?
Sorry for my bad English.
Thank you.

Reset default launcher Infused 2.1.0

After flashing new ROM, I initially set AOSP as my default launcher. I like TouchWiz3 better but now can't seem to get it to stick as default. Tried Homeswitch from the Market, and the set as default wont stick - home button keeps bringing me back to AOSP. ?

try factory reset
go to settings > applications > manage applications > all > launcher2 and clear data
or if you dont want the aosp launcher just delete launcher2.apk from system/app

That's a bit excessive. Find the launcher that's the current default in Settings->Applications->Manage Applications. There should be a "Clear Defaults" button.
@Entropy512. Well that was easy. Don't know why I couldn't figure that one out! thanks

[Q] Titanium Backup system settings restore Possible?

I don't know if it is already answered but I can't find a clear answer for my problem.
Every time I flash a new ROM I have to factory reset so to judge fairly the performance and the stability of each ROM.
I use Titanium Backup to backup/restore my apps and the data of these apps.
My question is :
Can I restore, after a clean install of a ROM, my system settings? When saying system settings I mean my home widgets, my wallpaper, and every setting of my system, so to be the exact same setup but with the new code of the ROM.
Is that possible or I am dreaming...?

I do not think this is possible.. But you can take screenshots of all the launcher's screens, and write each widget's name on a paper so you can just install and move them as you have had them before.

Lol, I know the feeling. xD I also love to customize my TF101 as often as possible so I can get a new design.. I'm always curious about those. Now I'm gonna remain on Rayman's JB 4.2 ROM as it's so cool xD
And your welcome
For the history, I was trying all night and finaly I can tell that TB cannot restore all settings.
The best result was when I check from menu the choise "Migrate Data". TB restored some of my settings. Only wallpaper and widget I had to setup again. From android settings menu almost everything was there as before flashing. Although I have to check all settings for right config after each flashing attempt.

Do you know which specific "app" in Titanium restored your settings?
Titanium backup
I do not think that TB will do what you ask for.
In general, when you switch from one version to another of the same ROM all settings remain unchanged. When you move from one to another ROM and then do a full wipe the settings are lost.
You can facilitate your work, use a launcher (Nova or others) that they have in themselves the function backup / restore and also import from other launcher. In this case'll get your wallpaper, your widgets etc ... But not the Wi-Fi settings, audio setting, etc. ...

How to delete pre-loaded Chrome bookmarks?

My Photon came with an entire folder full of Chrome bookmarks that I can't delete.
Im rooted, where is the XML file that has these in there so I can delete them?
Freeze or delete (better freeze) the following app:
com.android.providers.partnerbookmarks
-> PartnerBookmarksProvider.apk
-> PartnerBookmarksProvider.odex
ASA14 state.

I dont see this application "com.android.providers.partnerbookmarks" when I go to Settings -> Apps -> All
Should I look somewhere different?
Also do you know what deoxed and oxed means?

ASA14 is the version of firmware.
I would use Titanium Backup to 'freeze' the application as previously indicated.
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1919843 for your deodex/odex question.
Right, ASA14 is the firmware version.
I don't have any other name, as I'm now on CM10.
I use App Quarantine to freeze apps, enable the option "show details in app-list"
(or something like that, have the german version) and you'll see the "com.android.providers.partnerbookmarks" name.
Titanium Backup freezes only in the payed version.

[Q] Default Home Launcher Won't Save...HELP!

Okay, I am at my wits end and Google has yielded no helpful results so I am hoping the android community here can come through...
Phone: Note 3
Android Ver: 4.3
Rom: None (Stock).
Rooted: No
Issue:
My home launcher (Currently Nova Prime) will NOT save even though I say "Always" when it prompts me to complete the action using...
When the Issue started:
About 1 week ago out of no where (I had been using Nova Launcher Prime for at least a month).
What Causes it:
1 - Every time I first turn the phone on from "sleep" (turning the screen on) and press the home button
2 - Every time I load up Google now and press "Home".
3 - If I use my phone for an extended amount of time w/o turning the screen off it sometimes re-prompts me when I press the home button on any app.
Examples:
Right now my phone screen is off, when I turn it on and unlock it after its been "asleep" and I press the "home button" on my Note 3, it asks me which launcher I want to use, I select "Nova Launcher Prime" and say "Always use this". From then on it works fine UNTIL I either load up Google Now or turn my screen back off by tapping the power button. At that point, it will once again ask me "Complete action using...".
What I've tried:
1. I've gone into Nova Settings and made sure Nova was selected as the default launcher.
2. I've tried using other launchers (including the stock touch-wiz) and it does the same thing.
3. Uninstalled / Re-Installed Nova
4. Cleared the Cahce / Stopped the launchers (Touch-Wiz, Easy Touch Wiz, and Nova) in apps manager.
The only other "solution" I've found by googleing is to clear the dalvic cache which I cannot do since I am not rooted (but I am strongly leaning that way if it will fix this ANNOYING problem). Can anyone, please anyone help me with this?
Thanks,
Anyone? D:

Since you and I are pretty much at our wits you should just remove the other launchers.
But you definitely need root to fix most of the problems you will have.
However root is not required.
You could temporarily flash a recovery img and wipe the dalvik cache.
(All except for Nova Prime of course)
Nova will always be chosen now.

Can you explain in a little more depth exactly what you mean and how I would do it? Would I be better of just booting into recovery mode and flashing back to stock (is this what you're saying) -- however I am fearful I will just run into the same problem again.

No, definitely don't do that.
What I am saying is for you to root, then flash recovery(rom manager cwm or twrp), then wipe dalvik cache from recovery.
Or root, use titanium backup to remove the touchwiz homescreens. (Default launchers)
So now the noob question.
1. How do I root my note 3
2. Will I need to unlock / wipe my phone to root?
Thanks!

1.It should be in the forums.
2. Depends on the method.
The best method is to use the Type to find your device.... box in the top right corner of the screen.
Then once you are there at the forums for your device you can hit the root info tab to see a video of how to root your device.
Here is a link to the at&t note 3 root info tab.
(You want the forums for your device specifically though. So make sure you go for the forums specific to your carrier and device specifics.)
Wish you the best!
FIXED!!! I had read that apps could cause this so I deleted the last few apps I had downloaded (they were free bongo / drum apps I downloaded for my so to play) and wham! fixed!
