Hello people. I kinda searched the whole night on xda and on google about a ROM.
I am on xperia x8
Latest Baseband
Bootloader Unlocked
CWM Installed
GingerBread or something like that ROM.
Unfortunately, I can't tether wifi I paid my prepaid money because this tether didnt work correctly.
I tried the inbuilt cyanogen mod tether, serveral apps of the market, but it didnt work
So can anyone link me to a ROM, which fully supports Wifi tethering? Because I want to use it for my iPod and for friends and so on.
I would really appreciate a ROM with wifi tether possible thx

about installing rom with abort problem try to flash it again because sometimes i also get installation aborted if still not working try to redownload

I installed it, but when i want to turn wlan or hotspot on, I get error. I can't use wifi. is there kinda wifi fix or cant I use this rom?

The exact name of the Kernel is:
X8_09a-cm7-no_fps_cap_Alfs&Djnilse.ftf
See: On CM7 Rom, I had tethered Wifi. But when I used it using my iPod or Mac, I always get the message:
"Surfmanager" The prepaid money on your mobile phone is not enough to surf in the web or something like that"
Someone told me, that the tethering on android is free and working
Can someone give me a good kernel where it might work?

what rom are you using?
for the wifi error, if you are using gingerdx, you need the alfs v9a gdx kernel not the cm7,
if you wanna make the tether work in gingerdx with alfs kernel you need to flash a zip and add a line at build.prop,see here:http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=23257491&postcount=2
if you are using another rom, maybe the tether isnt supporting, try another rom, i remember that i read somewhere that the tether works with minicm9 and naa isc kernel.

Hey. CM9 and the kernel work. It looks great.
See this is what I do and what I have:
ICS kernel
CM9 or x8
o2 prepaid provider thing
I go to settings, -->more -->wifi tethering and mobile hotspot -->activate hotspot
Went to my iPod. Saw the AndroidAP network, connected to it
THEN a window poped up from o2 surfmanager saying I dont have enough money on my prepaid card.
WHAT can I do?
I cant use the tethering network
on my bootcamped windows it gives me couldnt connect to erver when I try to open a website connected to my android
Havent tried on mac. But I simply want to tether wifi lol.
Should I try to use the gingerdx kernel + rom for tether?

what do you mean?
you are tethering the mbs that you have buy from your provider,nothing is free.....
if you cant use 3g(because you havent pay a package) on your phone you cant tether the 3g with your computer and furthermore with your ipod!!!
of course you have to pay, but you pay for the mbs not for the tether

EDIT: uploaded the patch. Works for me. I've been testing all day with no problems. But, this needs further testing, and I need to double check my work with Necroscan whenever I get a chance to chat with him on irc.
Here is the hack for Stock EH06 ODEX. You need busybox to be installed in order for my install script to properly work.
1. Backup first.
2. Do Step 1 if you skipped it.
3. Seriously, backup. I am new at this and still trying to figure out if I did it all correctly.
4. Flash in CWM.
I used crawrj's "[Odin]Stock EH06 Odexed with CWM 3.1.0.1/Root/Busybox 1.19" as the source: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1221253

It's best not to modify the Settings.apk if you don't have to... However, I fully recommend swapping out the Hotspot icon for something less "Sprint-y!"

hadn't tried that yet, but I just enabled USB tethering, and jumped back on, and it appears to be working as well.
I just flashed this and its working
the computer didnt pick up the network when i tried to just usb tether, but once i ran usb tether and the hotspot together, the computer connected via usb ^_^

i was over here cooking my phone running sprint hotspot and usb tether and i didnt have to. what a relief though good job sir

i did search and read. that's how i arrived a the point that i did. if you can't help me, why bother to respond at all. just to lord your knowledge over me? how rude and pompous!
You can't root 2.3.6 UCLB3 with SOC. In fact, it can't be rooted very easily. What I did, because I'm a noob and was afraid of going back to Froyo to get to a rooted UCLB3, was this:
I flashed back to stock UCKK1 (no data loss experienced doing this)
Rooted with unlockroot (which, strangely, no longer lists this build as rootable. Don't know why, but it worked on the second attempt for me.)
Installed CWM and did nandroid backup
Flashed the rooted UCLB3 from Dman
(I later flashed the entropy kernel 'cuz it's great! You'll see why when you boot up in the rooted UCLB3.)
That's what I did, but you ought to read through Qkster's posts on this. I used some of his Heimdalls for this - he knows what he's doing. Most people on here say that your mileage may vary - with my advice, I'd say your mileage may greatly vary!
Here is a how-to. UCLB3 can be rooted on your phone, no need to install another rom to do it. Read and re-read, this thread wasn‘t too far down from the one you made.:

Great guide jscott30. Yours along with qkster's noob guide and qbking77's videos on youtube walked this noob here through flashing my way to total Infuse Emancipation. Pretty much hassle-free, no problems or bootloops of any kind...although I did update to 2.3.6 through Kies first...what can I say...noob here Odin easily took care of that though taking me back to stock Froyo.
From there it was easy following all the instructions and tips posted on these boards. My advice to all 1st timers is read and do your research. Don't blow up your phone on a whim simply to have one that looks "cool" or does something different.
If you do run into problems the search button here and on google are quite helpful.

I am also a noob an had my son talk me through the process on the phone. I also had a rooting issue after getting 2.3.6 through Kies. I used the Odin process to gain root and then loaded CWM to be able to flash the phone easily. I am on CM7 now but am having an issue with my Bluetooth not working no. Does anyone have an answer for this problem? All I get in the BT now is static.

Bluetooth audio is known not to work in CM7 on the Infuse. Probably want to stick with an Infuse based rom if you need BT audio.

BT Issue response to response
My son has his working on CM7 and he says the BT works for his phone headset use at least. Mine is not. Is there a better ROM other than a stock build that I should use? Since I am not a developer and am close to being totally clueless in all of this, I guess you could say I am not even smart enough to be a good dangerous. Probably a bad dangerous however.

Does he have the same type of phone and no roms are better than others it's a matter of personal taste but if you want everything working a infuse based rom is your best choice

audio BT is not functional on CM7. Source code issues.
If BT is a must, you'll have to try one of the native infuse roms.
idk if bt works on port...I've not tried the ports long enough to know.
Try Spartan, PharmNerd, Dev, Aeon, Midagu Eman etc...or just stock uclb3

Out of curiosity, does anyone know if there is a possible time when the BT will be able to be working in CM7? I really like the overall build and the way it works but I really do not want to have to use a wired headset too much.

From what I understand the source code for the Bluetooth drivers was never released and that is why it does not work did you get tethering working

With CM7 the tethering works really well on USB and while slower, it does work as a wireless hotspot as well. I really like the CM7 so I hate to go elsewhere just because of the BT issue but.... Do you know of any specific other ROMSs that behave and look similar to CM7 that have the BT and tethering working?

no i dont sorry i liked cm7 when i tried it but at the time i wasnt using bt and like i said in my pm i have never used tethering sorry i couldnt be more help you might want to try imancipation it has alot of themes and a ota app to download them with

hey guys! im new to POSTING to XDA but not new to using your FANTASTIC ROMS etc. i usually have it down reading all your great threads and finding the answer. but this one has me stumped!
i have a At&t infuse. i used kies to get the recent 2.3.6 update. i then rooted and have no custom kernal or anything. reason being, everytime i flash a CUSTOM KERNAL like Entropys DD my wifi always has some problems. it connects dont get me wrong. but it doesnt stay on for but 3minutes before it turns off and comes RIGHT BACK ON! i cant watch videos or download great roms with wifi interuptions! lol ive read and read and read till my eyes bleed and cant find why.
i HAVE: used ODIN to go back to stock and try again, nope//used Heimdall and still NOPE// i even Used ODIN with Entropys DD already in it and still have the same problem. (using Entropys most recent 3-4-12(i think))// I Even got another INFUSE and still same problem!//i have WIPED WPED WIPED my fingers sore and still nothing// And yes i have purchased a NEW router also and renewed lease to 2weeks or somehing other than never. THIS DOESNT HAPPEN WHILE STOCK only when using Custom kernals, AND NOT JUST ENTROPYS!!

ok just in case anyone is folowing, i found Entropys CURRENT kernal (4-4-12), works great!
discussion on link provided, i have also attacehed ENTROPY's (4-4-12) Kernal in a .zip, its flashable through SGS (kernal flasher). fixed all my problems! thanks and good luck! (HDMI-out via MHL WORKS GREAT!)

sorry for the late response, but yes. correct.
Even i have the same wifi disconnect problem every 2 minutes, problem started when i had to root my 2.3.6 and i installed Entropy's Daily Driver, then i installed zeus 6 still had the problem then i installed I997UCLB3-CWM-root-deodex-extras i still have the same problem
guys so installing 4-4-12 will resolve the issue or its just the same?
i have installed the 4-4-12 from entropy using sgs flasher but still the same problem
this is an issue i am plagued with as well... except it only happens at home, never at work.
Any thoughts Entropy or Bigjoe?
I also have this problem. I installed I997UCLB3-CWM-root-deodex-extras from a stock GB infuse and got this problem...now i'm running Recursion V1 with the same problem.
i called belkin support thinking it was my router... it wasnt, chaanged all kind of settings still disconnects. talked to samsung, no fix there either. i know i have done a clean flash so i know thta isnt the problem. must be something to do with the kernel or modems. but like i said only happens on my home network, never at work on wifi..

The simple fix is to change your home router dhcp settings from never too something else..ex: 2wks

just read your whole thread with the wifi fix. flashed that and will change the setings when i get home tonight. sounds like its the culprit! thanks Qkster!

You download it to a your sd card ever one cwm can access. And then just flash the zip. All it took for me. But what fixed my problem was changing the DHCP setting in my router from never to two Weeks

AHHH! I got it to work. I kept trying to do it from the cwm app. When i manually entered the cwm recovery using vol and power...it worked. Now i gotta test it.

Just check what the app does and you can do it yourself, and it will prob even work better XD.
To pay for an app that changes some stuff that you can do yourself and is also network specific is not the best thing to buy

clear your browsers data and try again
i found only 1 problem. after turning app to online in my HTC sensation XE hotspot stop working 4 some reasone. even after stoping app still nothing. it show ERROR when im trying to do it again. any one know what it maybe reasone of this ?? worth doin backup as i have to restore it to get hotspot back

try wiping data ..this shouldnt do anything to your hotspot though

Just like some other sh**y apps changing DNS servers, it bricks the Hotspot.

dont know if its actual thought of rom im running or app. at the mom i got ARHD 6.6.4 so if someone got similar problem just pls post it. i wipe date and nothing change
I have an AT&T Samsung Galaxy SII skyrocket SGH-I727. It had stock ginger bread, I put stable Cyanogenmod 9 + Google apps on it. Everything works fine except LTE. I have looked every where and tried everything but I can't get it to work. Right now I would be OK to go back to stock and use kies to update to ice cream samich. Any help you could give me would be appreciated. If you need more info just ask.

4g = lte on cm9. Have you tried searching?

I have three options:
1) wap.cingular
2) pta
3) att.mvno
With wap I get H & 3g both slow. With PTA I don't get anything.
I used the speed test app and I'm getting really slow speeds.

There is LTE , when your 4G icon shows it means it's LTE. It's just the way ROM is set up, there is no LTE Icon included.
Get Speed Test from Market, if Download is between 10-20 mbps and Upload is 5-10 mbps, they you are good.!

Yes, I know that 4G=LTE. But I don't get 4G.
Speed tested at 4.4 down and .8 up. That's not even close.
I have tried to go back to stock but Android.insertsomethinghere keeps crashing, and I can bairly get it flashed back to cm9 (working). Right now all I want is WORKING stock rom.

Sorry dude, it seems to be many things wrong here, if you wanna talk more about the situation, we need more details, please PM me.
But if you just want working ROM flash one of these it has all, ROM,KERNEL, RADIO.

Okay that worked, every things working fine. But i dont know how to get free wifi tethering with ics... Just got a new tab for school (wifi only) and i really need tethering.
i tried ultracfg with no success, is says install failed. more than happy to provide more info just tell me what you want to know.
EDIT: BTW now my speed test is running at 36 down and 11 up. :laugh:

I was using svtp lite and it works, but I need more than 5min a day.
And foxfi "isn't supported by my carrier".
Any other free apps that will work?

Try to download the APK to your SD card and install directly, instead of going through the Play Store. There's a link to the Dev Host site somewhere in the theads, I just don't remember where. Also, be sure to install the FoxFi proxy add-in.
A *better* solution is to just flash a custom ROM that has Secure WiFi Tethering enabled.

ill try that here in a sec... i also tried stable cm9 but i couldn't get lte to work, and i need it. Can you suggest a good rom?

sorry just got letter from att, they caught the foxfi app even with the add on, used it less than .5gb and first few times to boot. think i'll let it rest for a few months and try again with other app or ROM. not really into custom rom as the last phone i have a few functions weren't working with custom rom.
