MMS not working, tried many APN's wahts next? - HTC Inspire 4G

Hello All. I have a rooted Inspire 4g on AT&T. I have CoreDroids latest ROM and it has been fine other than MMS not working. Sometimes it will but usually it will not. I have fooled around with all kinds of APN settings. Basically it just prompts me to download the file and then it just says error message not downloaded. I tried SMS Pro too and it just said download failed.
I tried to post my current APN but it is telling me no outside links until I have 10 posts...
Wifi is off as well. Any help would be awesome. Thanks!

[Q] APN Settings for MMS

Seems like every time I flash a ROM, my APN settings won't allow me to send/receive MMS. Does anyone have a setting that works?
My following set up (Which is default):
Name: ATT
APN: wap.cingular
Proxy: Blank
Port: Blank
Username: [email protected]
Password: CINGULAR1
Server: Blank
MMSC: wireless.cingular.com
MMS Port: 80
MCC: 310
MNC: 410
Authentication Type: Blank
APN Type: default,supl,mms
APN Protocol: IPv4
---------------
I am currently using Ninja ROM, and if you have configured the APN settings to have MMS work, please share the settings.
I have searched everywhere and nothing. Even asked in the Ninja thread, and the only response you get is "Oh, mine works...". That's basically a F U. Not helpful responses.
Thanks.

Not sure if you mistyped something, but the MMSC field is not supposed to read: wireless.cingular.com. Make sure it reads: http://mmsc.cingular.com
Also, your Proxy and Port fields should read:
Proxy: wireless.cingular.com
Port: 80
You don't list your MMS proxy field, but it should read: wireless.cingular.com
If the above changes don't fix anything, then let's try breaking out your MMS connection into a separate APN. Use this method (from my APN thread):
Standard warning applies here: as always, before making any major config changes be sure to fully backup your ROM. If you mess up real bad or something goes unexpectedly wrong, then you might permanently lose your connection with no recourse other than a complete restore.
Step 1. Delete all APNs
If you're not already at your APN screen, then from your home screen press Menu button --> Settings --> Wireless and networks --> Mobile networks --> Access Point Names
Press the left side of your 1st APN to go into the settings of this APN, then press Menu>>Delete APN.
Repeat this process for any other APNs you have. The goal is to delete all APNs so we can start from scratch.
Now do the next steps in the same order as below:
Step 2. Create a new APN (Menu>>New APN). Everything is case sensitive and must be entered exactly as below. This will be your 1st APN:
Name: MEdia Net
APN: Phone
MMS protocol (if applicable): WAP 2.0
MCC: (don't change this number)
MNC: (don't change this number)
APN type: default, admin, hipri (notice there is no space on either side of the commas)
APN protocol (if applicable): IPv4
everything else: <Not set>
Press Menu>>Save. You will now be back at the initial APN screen.
Step 3. Create another APN (Menu>>New APN). Everything is case sensitive and must be entered exactly as below. This will be your 2nd APN:
Name: MMS
APN: wap.cingular
Proxy: wireless.cingular.com
Port: 80
Username: [email protected]
Password: CINGULAR1
MMSC: http://mmsc.cingular.com
MMS proxy: wireless.cingular.com
MMS port: 80
MMS protocol (if applicable): WAP 2.0
MCC: (don't change this number)
MNC: (don't change this number)
APN type: mms, supl (notice there is no space on either side of the comma)
APN protocol: IPv4
APN protocol (if applicable): IPv4
everything else: <Not set>
Press Menu>>Save.
You will now be back at the initial APN screen again. Make sure the 1st APN (named MEdia Net) is selected (via the round radio button on the right side). Your data connection will drop for a few seconds.
We are done at this point. Let me know if this works for you. If not, it is probably a software problem in your ROM somewhere.
I've tried this method you've posted. First of all, thank you.
Now, after setting up both APN's, neither seem to work to get MMS to function. I am not sure why.
I will call AT&T next week.

Hmmm, well at least we gave it a shot. The dual APN config should have worked for you, as it's the same as what comes on the stock ROM. I suppose one last thing you could try would be to get your phone back to pure stock and see if MMS works then. This stock RUU is located in this thread. It is an executable file that you run on your PC, and it completely wipes the phone, unroots it and brings it back to factory stock. If that doesn't work, then maybe your account isn't allowing MMS or something. Good luck either way.
I know it would work on stock, and stock rooted. But with any other ROM I flash, MMS won't work.
Again, thanks for your help. Its no deal breaker, just wish it would work.
I had the same problem I had to change the radio/ril back to stock to get it to work

I did that too on Ninja. And since I'm running Ninja ROM on mine, it seems its only able to use Single APN's.
I don't know.

internet just stopped working ?

really have no idea whats going on, i used my phone like normal today running darky rom (port)
(yes i have an infuse 4g) and now my internet wont work at all, a few days ago i got a text from att saying that i was in the top 5% of internet users orsomething.
(i dont do any tethering, but i stream pandora all the time). i checked data at the time i was at 5gb.
i checked again now and im at 5.5 gg.
i thought that because i had an iphone 3g previously and had a grandfathered data plan that i should be alright.
(when i check data with *data# it says, (data 5519.3 of unlimited)
when i try to go to any website it loads for a long time then says "web page is not available"
any idea whats going on ?

Check into settings---> wireless connections--->Mobile networks--->APN(access point names)
Just check you still got your att apns they may have erased or be bad information.
If that doesnt work go into recovery try a cache cleaning.
If that doesnt work try another ROM, if you still have no data then call ATT.
Hope it solves.

my guess is att was doing maintenance or something lol
Funny thing is my phone was doing the same thing. Must have been maintenance because all my phones weren't working.

Thanks! I went to a post on one of the roms and saw something like this a little different but it works. Thanks if the one i did stops working in the future i will use this one to see how it goes.
Could someone post the Rogers APN settings? I'm running the latest CM9 Alpha, but I'm also not able to send/receive MMS. Just want to make sure that I have the proper settings there... Unless there might be something else going on?

they never work for me on anything other than rogers roms... though ive only tried using the ltemobile.apn and the rogers-core-appl.apn.
though if you download Go Sms and turn off all notifications you can just open go sms when you get an mms and download it through that,.

Thanks denenatse, that was exactly what I was looking for. Now to find out if that was my issue...
So... that APN info was already in my settings, so I'm not sure why this is happening. I just swapped my SIM over to my Captivate, which is running the latest CM9 nightly, and it's having the same issue (though again the APN info is there already). The MMS will show up, but when I click on the Download button it just sits there saying downloading for a while. If I then scroll the screen or do anything, the download button just comes back up like nothing has changed.
The weird thing is that I have still gotten a couple pictures and a video sent to me, so I'm not sure if this is a CM9 thing, a Rogers thing, or just me being a retarded duck...
Sorry about the lag time to getting this up, since this is the only thing not really working it's taken a back seat to life in general.
I'm with you, no MMS on CM9. Rogers, same APN settings. It's not a huge issue to me but I don't like it when things are not working lol.
I dont know if this will work on Rogers, but when ever i go to an ICS rom (from gingerbread), i have to turn on PAP authentication to get mms working. may want to give that a shot.

Figured it out!
You will notice in the default APN that comes with CM9 the URL is:
http://mms.gprs.rogers.com
it's supposed to be:
http://mms.grps.rogers.com
Don't see the difference? Look closer
At first it didn't work, but you have to find all APNs that use that URL and fix it everywhere...
Yay MMS!!!

I don't have that problem currently, sounds like an MMS issue, I believe by default the MMS app is set to convert long messages to MMS maybe try un checking that setting?
On another note...
The "grps" URL worked for a while (even after several reboots) then quit on me again... I ended up purging all APN's from my phone and re-creating from scratch and now it works fine but only with the original "gprs" URL.
I am stumped, 50% of the google search results for "Rogers apn" use "grps" in the url, and the other 50% use "gprs"...
So yeah in summary, I don't know what's going on, and may be mistaken about the URL being a typo. MMS is fricken witchcraft... It's working on my phone now, but I don't dare touch anything for fear of breaking it again.

You can also send yourself MMS messages, just type your phone number into the "To" box, after a minute or two you should receive the MMS from yourself.
That's how I was testing last night.

Did you make sure from straight talk themselves that you have no problem in your account data wise ? other than that remove the proxy and port from the apn (i.e. no need for mvno.trac...... or the next 80) ....

thanks guys i got it working now. Thanks for the help much appreciated. Thread closed now

So I've got service, can call/text, but I have absolutely no data/MMS

I was running stock 4.4.2, rooted and unlocked, and my service/data were fine until today, when I just stopped being able to use data. I've tried rebooting, powering down for about half an hour, checked and double checked my APNs, and flashed Cm11. Haven't tried to flash a new radio alone since I figured cm11 would've come with a different radio from stock. A friend suggested it might be my SIM, but I would assume I would get no service at all if there was a problem there.
So where do I go from here? :V

Who is your carrier. Go to mobile networks/access point names/ and find your apn settings
Try proper radio. A sign is if your WiFi doesn't find signal usually bad mixed. I get this often. I flash lots on many devices but its simple. Anyway try your radio. And no ROMs normally have no radio unless it says otherwise or firmware. Peace.

See I can pick up wifi just fine, it's just my regular data that's acting up. I've tried looking into a guide for flashing radios but to be honest, I don't know much about LTE bands or anything. Is there a good guide here that I missed? It seems as simple as flashing one with CWR but I don't wanna ruin anything.

You can have as many as you like but it will only use one. It looks as if you are mixing the settings of different apns together

Added both, tried selecting each one and I'm still having the same problem.
So to update, I've gone back to stock 4.4.4, straight from google, still not working, and then flashed the newest radio and that didn't do it either. Starting to thing it's a hardware problem, maybe actually is the SIM?
Ended up being the sim! Thanks for your help though, guys!
