Earphones connected to device - Verizon Samsung Galaxy S III

Is there any way to remove this from the notification pulldown? Or change the apps that show up? I have zero intention to ever use any of them when I plug in my earphones :/

go to settings --> application manager --> all --> scroll down to context aware service...disable it and it will be gone you don't have to be rooted

Thanks
Does that service do anything else? And haha I'm rocking synergy without a hitch

thanks! this has been bothering the **** out of me. It would show 5 apps I never really use and yet not show Google Play Music (which alone made no sense). So, having it totally disabled is a fix I can accept.
The 1 side-effect is that it also remove the "headset" icon showing you have a headset plugged in.. but no big deal as it is not like I didnt know I had a headset plugged in.

Notification sounds don't shut off

Anyone else have this problem? Can't imagine I'm missing a setting.... Mute generally means mute.
According the this screen shot all sound should be off, correct. Dumb question but I want to make sure I'm not missing something.

So, I'm the only lucky one with this problem? It's not a big enough deal to return to it but it is annoying.

I have this same problem with my sgs 3. It's really annoying i had checked everything but notification kkeeps popping up even when i have read all my emails next messages.

Okay, sounds will not shut off no matter which method I try. Any ideas? Factory reset my week old phone
Sent from my SCH-I535 using xda premium
Audio manager from the play store effectively shuts the sound off if anyone else has this problem.

Samsung wants me to send the phone in to fix this but I'm not sure being without a phone for a week or more is worth. Plus, I'm pretty sure if I install a custom ROM this problem will disappear. I'm frustrated, this is a stupid easy problem to fix (with an app) but a BRAND NEW phone should not have this problem to begin with. I wonder if I flashed the stock rom on top of the stock rom (lol) if that would work? Only one other person has this problem?
factory reset should fix your problem.

As a workaround you can choose "Silent" as your Notification sound.
If you only need this functionality at work for example look at Llama that will allow you to configure it very easy.

I've tried Llama before but really didn't look into it too far. Where I work is only about 3 miles from my house so I'm bouncing off the same tower in both places..... Did not work too well with Llama. Can someone check if there volume shows the same as mine when set on mute? The only thing muting is the ring tone. Just curious...

I see the same thing if I set the phone for Silent mode.
There's all different notification sound settings in this phone, I've noticed - my email accounts have their own notification settings per account, messaging has its setting, etc.
Maybe Silent mode primarily silences ringtones and doesn't prevent separate apps from making sounds? Which types of notifications continue to make sounds?
- ooofest
All of them. Anything not set to silent (email, text, messaging, etc) makes a audible notification when the phone is set on mute. Also, when my phone is set on vibrate I also have audible notifications.
Sent from my SCH-I535 using xda premium
From the User Manual, pg 124:
Use Silent modes to temporarily silence the sounds your
phone makes, except for media playback and alarms, or
replace them with vibration.

So, it doesn't seem to claim affecting your sounds beyond the ringer and maybe keypad noises or similar. Working as designed, it seems (not that I agree with their design, in this case).
- ooofest
To me that means it should silence notifications since it's not "media" or "alarm"? I'm just going to buy sound manager since it has more options anyway..... $2.99 to end my frustration with this

I would classify "alarm" as notifications, in trying to interpret their jargon for the context given.
Yeah, an app which can configure sounds across all your apps and settings seems best, here.

Appreciate you looking that up in the manual. I actually downloaded it after your post . I bought the app and set my work and mute profiles... Nice app. I know this is stupid thing to worry about but it gets frustrating when I get woke up or a notification goes off during a meeting. Silent on the sound manager app silences everything.

I know this is an old post but thanks for the tip. I was in class last night and someone was giving a speech and all of a sudden my phone starts whistling. I thought it was in mute, apparently the notifications were not. I'll give sound manager a try.
Actually I've had no problems since the jelly bean update.

Had this issue on ics . In the other ROMs i noticed that the volume becomes very less after some time ( not mute though ). Reboot as usual fixes it.
i also have similar issue. sometimes audio doesn't work in music player/games. then i pause the player/game, go to home and increase phone volume using vol. up key. it usually fixes the issue

My guess is you have lint stuck in there. If you keep your phone in your pocket, especially with jeans and similar materials, lint tends to find its way into the jack. I get this all the time, and audio cuts in and out, and you sometimes have to force the plug in hard to get it to work at all. Turn the phone off and pull the battery out (really, do it) then bend a small paper clip so it is strait with just a little hook on the end, and carefully use it to pull the lint out of the jack. A bright light is helpful in the process. If I am right, you will be amazed at how much you can pull out, and if you get it clear it hopefully will work again.
I found out if you have your ringtones to vibrate or mute, the sound will stay working. So in other words, keep your phone on either and you'll be good . It's something to do with JB. I did some searching and came across a thread somewhere on xda saying it's something with custom JB ROMs across all devices, even nexus devices. What happens may vary, but in the end JB has audio issues

Yeah. I had the issue for the LONGEST time, now it is working fine 24/7, like I have all sounds working no problem. If it starts doing it again, I'll post here to let you guys know. If it doesn't **** up again, then all I can say is for anyone who get the issue, just stick to vibrate only for notifications and your other sounds (music, etc) will work fine.
I don't know if it matter's or not, but I am running the PAC-man ROM, the most recent v4 6/12/13. It might even be something with the default notification sounds being used. I am using sounds for my notifications from Zedge.

Weird sound randomly happens

Hello I am experencing a really weird sound that randomly happens on my skyrocket that doesnt seem to be associated with anything. I am on slim bean build 7. I have turned off nfc because I thought that might be it but it was not. Any thoughts?
What is the sound, is it a notification sound, or a system sound?
Sent from my SAMSUNG-SGH-I727 using Tapatalk 2
No clue, just a random sound that I never herd before. Doesnt matter if the phone is pluged it or not, if the battery is full or almost empty, still happens. I'll try and record it.

Do you have any Voip apps? Social apps? Most voip or social apps (Viber,Facebook,Skype, etc) have their own preset notification sound. If you have any of these apps check the settings. Turn off notifications for those types of apps maybe?

Headset Connected

Everytime i connect my headset all notification sounds (email, sms, calls and other app notifications) are going through the speaker and headset isnt that when you connect the headset it shouldnt play on the speaker?
I came from iPhone 5 and this is what i am used to when headset is connect all sounds should only be in the connected device not on the phone speakers. I know you can install 3rd party apps but are there any normal or should i say a OOB solution for this?

I had this problem, too. The problem was that the Headset connection got deactivated immediately after a call was made (saw the Headset button going from green to grey when the call screen appeared). Pressing the Headset button again to reactivate it worked. Had to do that a few times. Now the problem is gone, the connection stays activated. I did reboot/cache wiped my phone at some point, but since I don't have the problem anymore, I can't reproduce what I did to check what did the trick. I'd start with reactivating the connection when it gets lost and than reboot.

there are some work around but its just a band aid solution i guess.

Well, what's the workaround then?
Apart from putting the phone on vibrate or silent.
Because it is bloody annoying, I spend 7 hours a day in a silent coupe on the train and the other 12 hours of my day in places where I can NOT afford to have my phone start beeping and make a bloody racket!
My earphones are IN MY EARS. How the bloody hell am I supposed to hear the notification if it goes off outside a bloody noise-cancellation soundbarrier?!
Absolute morons, the baffoons who designed that 'feature'. If your 'feature' looks like a bug, you did it wrong.

You can use Tasker to detect notifications and then send a message through the media stream.
When I have my headphones on and get a text Tasker will tell me about it while I am listening to music. You can get the name of the sender and/or speak the body of the text.

I guess we need to let Samsung know about this . Its very annoying whats the point of using headsets when the notifications are still being played on the phone speaker???

[Q] Disable headphone volume notification.

Is there a way to do this? I hate how these companies include this crap. I don't even listen to it loud, but I set my Bluetooth volume to full so i can adjust it with the radio and not take my phone out of my pocket. Thanks in advance.

There is no way that I know of, but it only asks once per phone restart. Once you clear the dialog, it will not come back until you restart the phone, in my experience.
