Any known issues with T-Mobile One S? - HTC One S

Thinking about buying a T-Mobile One S to use on StraightTalk prepaid. Are there any known issues with the T-Mobile version of the One S? The AT&T One X had serious wifi issues, and a number of people experienced issues with push email syncing slowly, etc. Does the One S suffer from the same problems?

No issues I can think of, and I've owned 4-5 One S's.

my phone tends to reboot at times and its annoying, the phone sometimes lags, my battery seems to be draining more than every, could be a app issue that stays on, take note that the battery is internal now and no access to it.

One of the best phones I've ever used, no issues for me at all.

2 week old Nexus with odd issues, maybe you can help?

Ok, I have had a Sprint supplied Nexus S 4G, they replaced my Epic 4g with this because I went through 3 Epics in 4 months. There are more than a few odd issues and i'll list them.
1. 4g will not connect even after restarting phone, the Epic always worked in the same spots and it has the latest prl.
2. the whole outside 1/4 inch of the screen seems to not register my fingers.
3. The battery is horrible compared to the Epic, I am running the exact same apps on both and during a movie tonight the battery dropped 30% while not being used and in airplane mode, I would only use 10% to 15% with the Epic.
Has anyone else had these issues or is mine broken? If i take it back to sprint should I demand that they give me an Epic back or another Nexus? If this is normal for the Nexus s 4g then I would like my Epic back. I mean my Epic's weren't rooted so they were probably running more apps than the Nexus in reality. Any help would be appreciated.
Definitely sounds faulty. Take it back IMO
Thanks, went by sprint store and they ordered me a new one, 5th phone in 5 months.

On some tests i see that Tmobile One S has inferior battery life than the international one.
That's due to the bloatware they put on it. Rooting fixes that though.

No disrespect--just curious
Why would you be "new to the One S" and now asking if you should get something else and wondering about issues. If you mean you don't have it yet then there are many threads and posts on the forum already. And as far as I can say, it is perfect if you are OK with no SD Card and 9.3gb available internal memory--I am. Some complain on Multitasking--I have no issues. Although, all that is individual needs and opinions--and is covered extensively in various threads--
Highly recommend starting to read the General and Q&A sections for a wealth of info--
Whatever your currrent status is with the phone--enjoy it if you got it--and you will enjoy it, if you buy it--
Ken
I love the phone only thing I've noticed is multitasking, and signal. With regards to multitasking what happens is let's say you're web browsing or playing a game whatever then you do something else like check xda app. When you go back a lot of times instead of those apps continuing where they left off from it has to start up back again. It actually does it for xda app also. With the signal cell tower signal I just get a lot of fluctuations between bars dropping and coming back.

I flashed Trickdroid and Axiom S and wifi calling still not usable. I have turrible reception in parts of my house.
I wonder if the crappy wifi calling quality has its root in an buggy radio, if another ROM is also suffering from it? Anyhow, that is really the only "defect" I can find with this model. Otherwise, it's good! I wish it would have a removable SD card, but I recall reading somewhere in the forums that it is possible to mount external drives and such on this phone, but you need a USB Y cable (since the phone can't power the external device), or at least that's what I remember. One might also need a ROM to use the phone as a USB host. The possibility to do this makes me a little less upset over having just 16 GB of memory (or on TMob US only 10GB because of all the junk it comes with).
GS3 FTW!
Earlier today I received a notification that said I needed to get a newer sim for WiFi calling. I'll stop by the T-Mobile store tomorrow(today).

Latest news on the wifi fix?

Hi all,
I am considering buying this phone over the S3 (I mainly like the look and feel of the OX over the S3 plastic-y, cheap, feel). I am hesitant to purchase one because I know about the wifi problem and am not sure whether the issue has really been fixed, I just know HTC acknowledged it.
Has anyone heard any updates on this?
Thanks.
Honestly I have never had a wifi problem. I think it was on the early software version.1.73. I'm not positive though cause I've never had a problem

Yes, the issue with the casing of the phone flexing, and this affecting the antenna clips and WiFi reception, was only present for the international (Tegra) version. This AT&T (Snapdragon S4) version is not designed this way.
Some people have had signal issues with WiFi on the AT&T version, but they seemed improved after the 1.85 firmware update. I've never had any real issues with WiFi.

Same no issues
From beast called HTC One X
owned since a day or two before it was up for public sale, no wifi issues here. i once had some issues that i thought were due to wifi, but weren't. regardless, minor in hindsight and overall this phone has been exceptional. i highly recommend.
I use WiFi at work and at home daily with no problems. Also never had any problems with WiFi networks at any of my friends' houses.
You always have the 30 day return policy, too.
mine is international tegra 3 version and I have this wifi issue.
when comparing to another phone side by side, my HOX can only pickup 2 signals compare to another phone which is more than 5.
by comparing the signal strength of the 2 wifi signals only with the other phone, the -dBm is still higher in HOX.
One magical press on between the power ON button and the volume button, the signal strength improves.
So, this is really the design problem.
Until now, HTC still saying there is no fix on this yet after reported to them. :crying:
getting more and more frus everyday
You are in the wrong forums buddy ;D

I need some advice about my upgrade!

Long story short, I broke my LCD trying to fix the digitizer. I ended up without a phone for a week while waiting for a whole new digitizer and LCD combined...
Worked fine for about a month or so but now is making the phone glitch to the point where its unusable besides voice actions.
I don't care about having the latest and greatest, but do you think around $200 for a used SGNexus is good for the money?
I ABSOLUTELY need unlimited data. Otherwise, I'd have the SGS3 by now...

I have heard that even in an area with excellent coverage it still doesn't get a good signal. Someone correct me if I'm wrong.

I'd say go for it. Nexus is a great product IMO. I've heard other people say nothing but great things about that phone. Others may disagree but, who knows how your signal will be until you try it. Instead of upgrading my bolt I went and bought a Nexus 7 for 250.00 brand new. Couldn't be happier

They monitor your data usage, and if it spikes they go back and check to see if the destination ip of the packets is set to anything other than your phone.
You should have received at least one warning though.
Sent from my One X using xda app-developers app
You should give them a call but they detect it with the number of bumps It takes to connect the data I believe..... But you should of recieved a warning
I thought Canada had it bad when it came to plans but this is ridiculous. They actually force you to go on a tethering plan? $50 for 5GB?
Jeez... That's pricey.
I'm so glad Canadian carriers don't have restrictions on tethering other than you need at least 1GB of data.

Ok so here the update I was busy at the time to go to att so my dad who is the primary account went to att and find out what's going on. According to them they say my number was detected as tethering. I don't believe this since I haven't done this in three months. They told my dad that were going to give me a warning...next time I receive this message I'm going down to att and make them prove to me that I'm tethering since all I do on my phones is surf the net, download apps, be on Xda, and on eBay.

You wouldn't win if you go down the store....its quite simple to tell if someone's tethering just measure the number of bumps it took to carry the data.... Even if it was three months ago they recorded it and maybe youve been using a lot of data lately...don't use tethering now since you're on their radar

Tru.dat. And by "bumps", kittens means "hops". They will scold you for it. Which is bs. A "hop" is one device transferred to another. Aka AT&T to your phone is 1 hop.. AT&T to your phone to your PC is 2. They can see this.

So does anyone here still use tethering?
Sent from my HTC One X using xda premium
I only tether when I absolutely need too...they USUALLY will look at people who use huge amounts of data on their unlimited plans and from their they determine if they're tethering or not. .but if you have a huge data peak they will check you out so I try not to tether really except when its necessary
I agree. I'm on a 3gb a month plan and that barely gets me by the month. Time to hit the lotto and crest my own carrier
Sent from my HTC One X using xda premium
What's the point with not be able to tether but there are apps that allow you to do so? Seems like my freedom has been taken away from me.
Sent from my HTC One X using xda premium
More money for them...data is data they could easily allow you to tether on that 3gb plan it wouldn't any more of a hassle for them at all actually they wouldn't have to do anything...data is just data! One day you'll learn its all about money

I've tethered, but very seldom. Most usually if traveling, and in a place that either doesn't have WiFi for my laptop or tablet, or the hotel WiFi is too slow. Haven't had any warning or message from AT&T. Pretty sure there are a decent amount of people tethering still.
There was another thread a couple months ago, where the OP got the warning message, but swore up and down that he didn't tether at all. He asked AT&T to prove it, but don't know if they ever gave him any proof.
The method by which data use is monitored by AT&T seems far from consistent, and also seems room for error. Which looks like might be the case in your instance.
im on my phone all day every day and i never break my cap of 3 gigs some times i barely break 1.5 gigs
i do tether when i need it but its very rare for me todo so
I was busted for tethering but they sent me a letter in the mail warning me that they would change my unlimited plan to a tethering plan if I was caught again. So no more tethering for me
