I've been trying to flash Raver's Octane Rom but when it flashes and starts up it doesn't load up. These are the steps I've been taking. I am on GB 2.3.7 ICBINB rom. Also I've tried with multiple cwm firmwares, right now I'm on 5.0.2.7.
Thanks
-After the Nandroid Backup you should be on the main screen of CWM Recovery
UMMU, navigate to "mounts and storage" and set the values to "unmount /cache", "mount /data", "mount /sdcard", and "unmount /system"
- navigate down to [install zip from sdcard] and select.
-Then select [choose zip from sdcard].
-Navigate down towards the bottom of the list that appears and you should see [- << Name of ROM you want to install >>.zip]. Select it.
-Navigate down to [Yes - Install << Name of ROM you want to install >>.zip] (sometimes the name of the ROM will be cut off due to the length of the name).
-Select the ROM and wait.
-When installation is finished - select [***** Go Back *****] until you are back to the main CWM Recovery screen and select [reboot system now]
-Once rebooted into your new ROM - let you phone sit for 10 minutes to allow time for your caches to build.
-After 10 minutes - long press the power button and select [Recovery].
-In CWM Recovery - navigate to [wipe data/factory reset] and select.
-Then navigate to [Yes --delete all user data]
-When factory reset is complete - reboot and ENJOY!

I am currently trying to root my S3 using the instructions from http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1762709 I got to section 2 where i saw the following instructions. I followed them to the 2 but then at step 6 instead of installing the zip i hit reboot. Now the phone is stuck at the page where it says Samsung Galaxy SIII. This page shows up as soon as I plug the battery in. Did I brick my phone?
Step 2: Download and install the EZ recovery App from HERE (If your coming from section 1 and already have a custom recovery, reboot recovery and skip to step 4).
Step 3: Open app, select CWM recovery, tap the pulldown menu, choose CWM 6.0.1, select flash, then reboot recovery.
Step 4: Perform a Nadroid Backup from the "back up/restore" menu(optional but recomended)!
Step 5: Wipe Data/Factory reset, then under the "mounts & storage" menu Format System.
Step 6: Navigate to "install zip from sdcard", then from there "choose zip from sdcard", and finally install the rom you downloaded in step 1.
Step 7: Reboot.

Power off the phone than try holding power+volume up+home button to re-enter into recovery. Once you are in recovery (as long as it is the CWM recovery) continue from where you left off.

AROMA FILEMANAGER :-http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1646108
For all those with P2C72 version that came with a42 ROM (version S048) that cannot get Nougat OTA, here's how you can manually do it:
1. Download this file. (1.91GB)
2. Rename the downloaded file to "update.zip". (The file you download is already in zip format, so if you do not have Windows set to show file extensions, just rename to "update").
3. Copy the file (update.zip) to the root of your sdcard that is already in the P2.
4. Turn off the phone. Hold "Vol Up + Vol Down + Power Button". Release the "Power Button" when the phone turns on. The recovery mode will load in about 3 to 4 seconds.
5. In the recovery mode, select "Install Update Package", then "Yes".
6. Allow the phone to restart when the update procedure ends. You're now running Nougat version S232.
7. To get the version S233, download this file. (78.3MB)
8. Repeat steps 2 to 6. (Delete or move the first update.zip to another folder)
9. Time to do a factory reset. Enter the recovery mode. Choose "Wipe User Data". First do "Fuse Wipe Data", then "Fuse Format Data", and finally "Wipe Cache", all the while selecting "Yes" when asked.
10. If you have not already "applied" to have your bootloader unlocked, you can do that now.
Step 1: flash a custom recovery (twrp)
Step 2: boot into recovery
-select - Mount
-select - cache, data ,system
Step 3: press home button
-select - Advance ->file Manager
-select - data -> app
Select app you want to systemize
Step 4: open that app folder
Press the check button at bottom..
Rename it simply (i.e remove com.android thing)
Step 5: again select the folder you renamed ( it will be data/app)
- Tap the check button at bottom
- select-Move
-select -system- >product ->app (it may differ in different rom , so find product - app and move the app you want to systemize there)
-and swipe to move it there.
And reboot ...
