[Q] How to extract system.sin from stock ICS ROM (ST15i) - General Questions and Answers

Hi guys..
I tried to extract Xperia mini (ST15i) stock ICS system.sin, first I used flashtool sin editor, the result is system.yaffs2, then I open system.yaffs2 using yaffey, but yaffey always gave me error when I tried to open it, then I tried ext2explore, but it didn't want to open the file even after it was renamed to system.ext4.
Do you guys know how to extract ICS system.sin?
P.S.
yaffey works fine to open system.yaffs2 from ST15i GB system.sin
ext2explore works fine to open system.ext4 from GB ST27i GB system.sin
Edit:
If it's in the wrong place, then please move it into the correct section.

These are files to be used for recompiling a ROM.
Try searching for ftf file of your choice

[Q] convert a FTF ROM to a ZIP ROM

I think that in order to customize a ROM it needs to be in ZIP format, right?
At least in ZIP format I was able to browse the contents of ROMs while in FTF it didn't work with 7zip, or at least the contents are not easily readable.
So, can anyone help me converting FTF to ZIP? I'm on Windows 7.
I tried a tool called F2Z but it didn't work with my Sony Xperia Miro FTF ROM file.
Thanks in advance.
Cheers

1. Open .zip with WinRar or 7zip. Extract system.sin
2. Use the sin extractor tool in FlashTool.
3. The result is a system.ext4 file.
4. If on Linux or OS X, mount it and zip the system folder. On WinRar you can use a tool like Ext2Extractor to do the job.
5. ????
6. Profit.

can somebody help me extract .sin file on these stock roms?

i have 2 frimwares of sony xperia NXT series (got from samsony.net) and both of them are android 4.0.4 stock roms. I wanted the HDMIservice.apk and SemcTVlauncher.apk file from both frimwares. It's located in system.sin in the ftf inside the zips
