I'd also try romtoolbox or titanium backup to do your backups.. Don't flash your ROM in your phone, do it from recovery only.
I am kind of confused as to what you are doing. Are you making custom ROMs? If you are just wanting to install new ROMs, boot into recovery and clear data and cache (AFTER BACKING UP!, make a nandroid if you'd like) Flash the .zip from recovery!!! NOT from a program after your phone has fully booted.
In other words - don't use rommanager to boot a new rom.
Romtoolbox has a nice boot to recovery feature so you dont have to hold the buttons down, among several other fantastic tools.
I personally use Titanium backup for my backups however. (romtoolbox for everything else) - you can find both these programs free in play store.
Other things to note-
- Make sure your phone is rooted properly.
- Check your download source of the ROM and download it again.

Getting Error in Clockwork

I am trying to create a backup rom of my system. I was clicked on "Backup Current ROM" and it takes me to the boot screen and then it gives me the following errors:
E: Failed to verify whole-file signature
E: signature verfication failed
Installation aborted.
When I use the volume down/camera/ power button I only get these options:
Im getting blue text
reboot system now
apply sdcard:update.zip
wipe data/factory reset
wipe cache partition
I have seen screen shots of people with green text and a lot more options. When I go into rom manager it says I have clockworkmodrecovery 2.5.2.0 installed.
I know I am rooted cause titanium works like a charm in freezing programs I don't like.
Do I need to try re-installing everything? The superuser programs says that rom manager was allowed every time it tried accessing, so I dont think it is a permissions issue.
Did you flash cockwork on your computor cuz the stock kernal isn't compatible with rom manager.

hmm I didn't know that. What would be a good kernel to use? Preferably one that won't cause me any trouble as I am noob.
I eather recomend the froyo leak or ee with pheonix for best battery life

P.S... also....I heared about "gapps"...what is it and do I need it at all? When is the official 2.3.x (gingerbread) coming from Tmobile? I just want GB on my g2x
make sure u flashed clockwork recovery via NVflasher to TRULY gain a mod recovery. I always put the roms I wanna flash onto my phone's memory and NOT the microSD card. maybe that'll help.
Looks like a corrupt download. Delete the zip and try downloading again.

Thnx for the reply. I tought I heard to have the ROMS in external memory card. Cuz, for example that's where clockworkmod backs up your nandroid.
Where do you place the ROMS(most roms have like 3 files in a compressed zip format.......i.e example.....the eagleblood ROM name is EagleBlood1.04.zip when u download it....inside the zip, theres two folders.....META-INF and "system".....a file called "boot.img" and another one called "installbusybox"...so where in the internal phone memory do u put the whole zip folder......?
put the WHOLE rom.zip on your memory. don't unzip anything.
+1 on the post above. redownload the rom and try flashing again.
after you flash the rom, flash gapps (this is the installer that includes market, gmail, etc.) You need it in order to get access to the market
Your steps should be as follows
1. Wipe Data
2. Wipe Dalvik cache
3. Flash Rom
4. Flash gapps
5. fix permissions
6. reboot
EDIT: and don't unzip anything. Place the WHOLE eaglesblood.zip file on your SD Card

They all say the same....I got them from the cyanogenmod website......even Eagleblood1.04 from here.
funny thing i noticed tho, after I tried installing a rom, but of course it fails, I connect the phone to USB, go to external memory card, try to open the ROM zip file, it wont open....says "X:\EagleBlood1.04.zip The archive is either in unknown format or damaged"
Maybe it gets damaged or currupted during the time its trying to flash the files to the phone???

Kinda new to the whole android thing, but not to modding devices...I started it when I got the $500+ moto RAZR when it came out, the psp, wii, ps3, itouch, etc. enuff about me....lets stay on topic
hehe me too, started with my verizon razr as well.
You can get gapps from here:
http://wiki.cyanogenmod.com/index.php?title=Latest_Version/Google_Apps
You install it AFTER successfully flashing a rom

That's what I was going to say. Titanium is the way to go!
If you have clockworkmod, long press to bring up recovery reboot, select backup and restore, backup. Or dl rom manager premium and backup from there. Hope this helps!

No this don't help rather.
I have tried everything.
And I have also Titanium Backup, but ClockworkMod does a complete backup of a system so if you are a developer and backup everything when something goes wrong you have a backup

[Q] Failed to verify whole-file signature

Hey,
I have a stock infuse (at&t) rooted with superoneclick.
I installed Rom Manager and ran flash recovery. It went into recovery mode (blue) but I am missing some menu options.
I only have..
Reboot system now
reinstall packages
delete all user data
Delete cache data
format internal sd-card
I did reinstall packages twice as per one of the videos but I get an error message that says fail to verify whole-file signature.
I then downloaded and installed into system/bin the recovery file I downloaded from the video tutorial, but still get the error. I also removed rom manager and re-installed..
Any ideas?
I just HATE myself!

1.-Download SGS kernel flasher
2.-Download the Kernel provided in this thread:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1220088
(CWM-community-kernev8.zip) for Froyo (since you are on stock right? if your on GB go for the other one)
3.-Put it into your SD card.
4.-Open SGS kernel flasher-->Chose kernel
5.-Chose the CMW-community kernel.zip
6.-flash it.
Wait bout 5 minutes its activating vodoo lagfix and it will give you Red CWM wich is basicly the same as green (But with vodoo lagfix option)
From this red CMW you can flash a mod rom wipe data wipe cache wipe dalvik cache etc etc.
Hope you problem solves.
If i helped ya dont forget to thank xD

[Q] Cancelling In-Progress OTA Updates?

Hello, all!
I'm wondering, how do you cancel an OTA update once it has started? I mean after it has downloaded, and you have chosen to install it.
Here's my problem: Everyone talks about how running an OTA update unroots your phone. No problem, I can just re-root it. What no one talks about (at least I didn't run across it before doing this) is installing OTA updates when you have TWRP installed...
So, my phone downloaded the update, and it asked me to install it. I accepted, it restarted, and TWRP came up. From there, nothing happened. I tried restarting it, and it booted up just fine. After about a minute of being up, the "Phone is shutting down" (or something along those lines) message pops up, and it reboots again.
I'm wondering, how do I go about cancelling the update? I've read online I need to download the update manually and run it through TWRP, but until I learn how to do that (and spend a few hours downloading it on this freaking slow internet connection), I would like to be able to use my phone.
Another alternative that I don't know whether is possible, can I somehow use TWRP to browse to where the OTA update was downloaded to, and install it through there? If so, what would the procedure be for doing so?
Thanks!

Boot into TWRP, click install, click(Up A Level) until you are at "/" and look in the cache folder for the update zip.
It should be in there.

Is it the "Blur_Version21.23.4.peregrine_retus.retus.en.US.zip" file? If so, that didn't work... Unfortunately it failed.
Here's what it said just before failing:
Verifying current system...
"/system/bin/debuggerd" has unexpected contents.
E: Error executing updater binary in zip '/cache/..."
Error flashing zip '/cache/..."
Updating partition details...
Any ideas?
Thanks!

You must have stickmount installed. Uninstall it and try again.
Note: If you changed or deleted anything in /system partition the install will keep failing. You'd have to fastboot flash the system img's from the 4.4.3 firmware.

Nope, Stickmount is not installed. Not sure what other apps there are that could cause this.
Not sure whether I've changed anything in /system... I don't believe I have, but an app I installed very much could have.
I'll look up this "fastboot flash" you are referring to.
Anyway, for now I am good. I copied the .zip OTA downloaded file to another location, hit the "clear dalvik and cache," rebooted, and I'm back to a working 4.4.3.
Problem solved until I decide to try to get 4.4.4 installed! (which I may never end up doing... Now that Cyanogenmod is officially out for Peregrine, I'm probably going to flash it with that when it gets stable enough (i.e. no RAM issues)).
