[Q] Recovery Reboot problems

Hi, All,
Sorry if this has been answered before, I could not find it through search.
Whenever I reboot my Droid 2 Global, it goes straight into recovery (ClockWorkMod). I press the camera button and it reboots into the OS just fine. I tried uninstalling Clockwork, reinstalling ClockWork but that does not help.
Tried flashing but the regular firmware that I found did not work for my D2G phone.
Anyone has any clue on how to fix this?

Try actually removing CWM hijack files, and then reinstalling it.
Go to /system/bin, find logwrapper.bin; if it's there, delete logwrapper and rename logwrapper.bin to logwrapper. Check if the problem persists (I highly doubt it), then try reinstalling CWM.

Are there any resources that explain how ClockworkMod (or any recovery hijacking) works? Wanted to understand better what actually happens on the system level.

The false logwrapper CWM installs starts the CWM binary when there's a certain file present in a certain directory. If there's no such file, it just starts logwrapper.bin and startup continues as usual. That's about it.

I tried installing ginerbread update abd it fails. That's why I am trying to solve this problem in the first place.
When I tried installing the update today, it downloaded the update, rebooted and went into recovery partition and started extracting it (progress bar was moving for about 5 seconds), then I saw droid with exclamation point, phone rebooted again and said "Update failed"

I'm a bit tired of explaining this all over again.
Download the standalone update file from somewhere, or fetch it from your phone's /cache directory with Root Explorer once the download completes (do not confirm installation, just fetch the zip file). Place it into the root directory (/) of your SD card. Rename it to update.zip. Reboot into stock recovery. Choose install sdcard:update.zip. Check the error messages it displays.
For 99% of the cases the problem is CWM's logwrapper.

I have stock rooted Android 4.4.2 on my Nexus 5. I use xposed for all my ROM like needs. When the OTA update downlaoded i remembered before i had a bit of trouble due to app_process having unexpected results, whic hwas casued by xposed. So i have disabled/xposed but the error i am getting on flashing is:

Does anyone know what would have caused this? an xposed module perhaps? I thought may be another app so i uninstalled busybox (through the app) but its still throwing the error.
Does anyone know what the cause may be? I have found the full image for 4.4.3 but the alt time i updated the factory images from Google it formatted my data and my sdcard partition, so i wouldn't not like to do that again. Is there another way to flash the full image, not just the patch?

Flash boot.img, cache.img, system.img and the new radio manually (don't use flash-all.bat or flash-all.sh) in fastboot and it won't wipe your data and sdcard.
Also if you don't want to do that, try taking the original /system/framework/com.google.android.media.effects.jar out of the 4.4.2 factory image and copying it to your phone, and clear cache/dalvik afterwards.
You probably changed something else that requires root access, anything small could stop the OTA from working so I recommend you just flash the .img files with fastboot.

How have you disabled Xposed? Unless you did the "uninstall framework", Xposed is still loading custom java

I disabled xposed from within the xposed installed app (it was label uninstall).
I have used the factory images to restore the images manually and it hasn't wiped my data which is nice.

[Q] Upgrade to 4.3.3 problem with recovery twrp

I've a big problem...
My nexus 5 configuration: TWRP recovery - Root privileges - Android 4.2.2
The smartphone notified me the availability of Android 4.3.3. I accepted and the package has been downloaded. The phone has rebooted, but there was no trace of the installation. The phone is divided into TWRP recovery.
I rebooted the system from recovery. The system is still Android 4.2.2 and tells me that the system is updated. In fact he says "last update check xx.xx" (where xx.xx is the hour).
Do you have suggestions on how to proceed?

you have to manually select the ota file to install with twrp. its in /cache i think, but im not 100% sure of that location

In cache there is a file called d173d.....signed . I've try to install it but it's failed...

[Q] Can't restore TiBu update.zip on 5.1

I created an update.zip with my apps+data using Titanium Backup (Pro) on 5.0.1 before I updated to 5.1. I then did a completely clean flash of the 5.1 image (following these instructions, method 2). After that, I did the basic setup of Android and installed Titanium Backup again from the store. I rebooted, flashed and booted into TWRP, then flashed SuperSU 2.46. Rebooted into the system, gave TiBu root access (since other threads said you need to do that before update.zip files can be flashed). Rebooted back into TWRP, finally try to flash update.zip, but I get the error below. Does anyone know why this would be the case?
Additionally, since receiving the error, I have installed busybox and tried fixing my SD card permissions in case they were the problem, no dice.
I do have all of the individual app backups on my computer if update.zip isn't going to work for some reason, and I took a full TWRP backup before upgrading as well (transferred all to my computer since the instructions clear personal data).
Error message:

UPDATE: Just discovered that Android is doing the "Optimizing apps" process at every single normal boot, whether I flash something or not.

You have TWRP and you flash successfully supersu2.46. Why you need update.zip? what is this?

I've read a few posts that seem similar but nothing too recent. I'm trying to backup what I have now so I can flash another ROM but it keeps failing. I even used es file manager with root and created the folder needed and gave it root permissions but it still fails in TWRP to backup.

Are you decrypted? Else you won't be able to back up.

Thanks guys, I was wondering about if I'm decrypted or not. How do I check? It's probably a dumb question =/. I ended up installing another ROM and it uses Magisk baked into it so I don't see an option for mount namespace separation. Maybe I can attempt to backup now just to see if it works with this ROM or maybe it's not decrypted still. For some odd reason it refused to let me install Facebook, or Facebook Messenger from the play store and one of my apps won't start. It just tries to start then crashes. I downloaded a couple "updates" from a site that says they are stock ROMs. "update_full_hw_usa.zip" is 544 mb and "update" is 1.72gb. I'm thinking of going back to stock but that would probably lock the bootloader and erase twrp right?
Edit: I tried to back up again but it does the same thing. I did notice it also says "failed to unmount /DATA". It might have said that before.
Edit: I see under security the encrypt phone section. At the bottom the "Encrypt Phone" button is faded out and above it I see "Charge your battery and try again" and "Plug in your charger and try again" so I'm not too sure but guessing that means I'm not encrypted but it is faded out so maybe it is?

Go to twrp, advanced, file manager. Browse to /data/app and see if you see normal folders or randomly named folders. If the latter you are encrypted.
Same if you tap install then try to install from internal sd.

Thank you. I should have checked that before I put another ROM. I did see randomly named folders when I connect it to my laptop but I can't remember when but I bet it was in that folder. I ended up within TWRP formatting data I think but it did have my type "yes" and said it would eliminate encryption, then I installed the new ROM. I should check and see if the new ROM has encryption. So far data on the root drive isn't encrypted and data in the android folder isnt' encrypted when I check with my laptop.
Edit: It's backing up so must not be encrypted. I check using the file manager in twrp and can see all the files in data. Thanks for you help. I guess if I had sensitive info on my phone then it would be something to do but I don't have a need to encrypt.

If you did format data again now, flash the data files supplied by your rom. (Public and Hw data) else you will have problems with themes and stuff.
