Here is another newbie question. I installed stock jelly bean with a matrix kernel. I really miss the ability to access the power control widget from the notification screen like cm7 has. Is there anyway to install this without installing another mod?
Thanks.
Lots of apps do that. Power toggles (used to be power controls) comes to mind. But there are a lot more.

Widgetsoid is also another alternative.

Edit
Nevermind app already mentioned in
There's Notification Toggles.
Now, with Widgetsoid and Power Toggles already mentioned above, you know the 3 best apps for this purpose.

Thanks, there seems to be an issue with power toggles. Even if I enable it in the accessibility settings, it will always be superceded by notifications, and never on top. Anyone else have this issue? or am I missing something...

In Power Toggles settings, change the notification priority to 1
Power Toggles is the best, it's the nicest looking, easiest to configure, and you can hide the notification icon.

Did that, messages still knock it down towards the bottom
ahh, changing it to 5 fixed it. Thanks for tipping me in the right direction
ok, now the issue is getting rid of the icon in the notifications bar. i know i can make it transparent, but is there any way to make it go away completely and still keep the power toggle active and on top?

This only happens on main screen. I am running Liquidsmooth Jellybean 4.2.1, It started randomly tonight and I cannot find a fix for it. Restarted phone, uninstalled apps that could be causing problems with it. my task bar becomes transparent on the homescreen but when i touch it it becomes black again but when i let go it just becomes transparent. Do I need too reflash my rom or what?
Looks like it's been there. Bullet point #5, taken from the OP of LiquidSmooth:

I am NOT the creator of this mod but only sharing the link to the SPRINT forum. Confirmed this mod is WORKING on the Sprint Galacy S4. I'm on stock rom rooted and it allows me to customize everything almost. It says or device is not supported but it works.

To confirm. Do you just run the installer in the apk and go from there?

So the link provided in the OP says that this MOD works if you have the FRAMEWORK installed....I don't want to install any framework. I just want my stock look....for now, lol.

Yes..its posted in the instructions in the link I gave you.
Its pretty cool because now you can customize everything from change the carrier name on the lock screen to removing the am/pm in the status bar with the press of a button..

Really..all u have to do is download the app..open it..press install/update and reboot and thats it..the customizations are for stock. It doesn't change the look..just adds and remove certain features. If you don't like then dont change it.
Thanks. Doesn't look like it works on Free Rom.
Followed the directions and the changes don't stick after rebooting.
Never mind. It works. I forgot to enable the mod.

You should have installed 2 apps "xposed installer" & "nottach xposed". Open the "exposed install" app..hit "install/update" under the Frameworks side..on the top right side you should see "Modules"..enable "Nottach exposed". Then reboot. Now open the Nottach Exposed app and start customizing.
Its cool that things are starting to work across different variants and carriers. Hopefully ROMs and kernel won't be far behind.
I guess i was trying to make too many changes but nottach crashed on me. i had to clear app cache and data then clear framework and reinstalled and make changes again. just fyi if it happened when i had changed the color on status bar, changed the notification window colors. Then i tried changing to notification bar color and thats when it rebooted with default colors
thanks for this! This solved so many things I found annoying about this phone. The 100% charge notification??? Ugh!!! And more! here's my modded drop-down notification drawer. I changed the colors and transparency. I think it looks great!
The one thing I did notice was that the Circle Battery mod didn't work after a reboot.

Are you talking about having the battery percentage with the icon on the status bar? Stock Android (and in this case mostly stock) doesn't have that option. You can use what I use, power toggles, to have it pinned on the left side of the status bar. Not the greatest set up but for now it's all we got. Another reason why I really hope we see an unlocked boot loader so we can get some roms that will have this feature. :good:
Or you can two finger swipe down on the notification bar and it will show your percentage
Sent from my Nexus 7 using Tapatalk 2
Yes, that's what I was talking about... I added power toggles and put up top. Thanks
If there is any apps that give this option or anyway to do it without to much modding I would greatly appreciate the info! Im stock rooted with FK no roms and dont really want to have Roms yet (waiting on full PA) I would really just like the quick option of pulling down the notification window and change brightness and be done instead of clicking through buttons to get to a slider or clicking through brightness profiles ala Power toggles which can be clunky.

Well, not sure what you would consider too much modding. I'm stock rooted with stock kernel. The only tool I ever need is Xposed Framework + Gravity Box. It's super easy to do what you are looking for with regards to brightness in the status bar. In fact, it's even easier because you don't even have to pull down the notification bar. There's a setting in Gravity Box that allows you to just slide you finger along the status bar (without having to pull it down), and you can adjust your brightness quickly. I use this instead of auto-brightness, and it works flawlessly.

Yea I dont really know about xposed and all that Ive heard it can drain battery depending on modules and all that or in general. Maybe im wrong but even then not to sure about it. And there is an app that can do what you described but its not what im looking for because I can accidentally trigger it when pulling down notifications so I ditched it. Id rather have a brightness bar in the notification shade.

Ah. I see. Maybe something like this would help: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?p=49741707#post49741707? It's post #30 on that page. rootSU says he uses it with great success.
And for what it's worth, I don't see any significant battery drain from using Gravity Box. For example, I don't charge my phone overnight. So during that 9-hour period that my phone is "asleep," it only drains about 2-3% at the most. I have enabled quite a few mods using it as well. I'm thinking the people that see drastic drain are running another app that is keeping the phone awake, or something specific in Gravity Box that keeps the phone awake, or wakes it up often (something like keep the last screen on your phone queued up so when you put the phone to sleep, then wake it up later, the same screen will appear).
I have Gravitybox and Xperia Flip Settings installed, which is great, but if I already have the notification bar pulled down I can't change between the notifications and the toggles.
So basically I'd like to know if I can have this button on Xperia L: http://imgur.com/330kKaT
It doesn't have to be this button, but something that makes it possible to change between the toggles and notifications just like what that button would do.
Yeah the Last option in statusbar >Quick seeting, u can chose side (left or rigth) to pull noti bar or the Quick seetings.

I have that option enabled, but I often forgot that I wanted to pull down the quick toggles, and when I've already pulled down the notifications I can't change it to the toggles, so I have to swipe the notifitacions back and pull down again from the right side of the screen.
It's not really a time-consuming task, but it's kinda annoying since it happens to me so often.
