What's your setup? - HTC Sensation

Hello people of Sensations! I'm soon to be making my way to this phone in a couple of days as I am coming from LG G2x. (crappy phone ever) I've rooted and installed roms on this phone for my family, but that was during the GB days Now its ICS, and well so much has changed.
My question to the people of the Sensation Community is to know, well, whats your setup? Let me know by using the descriptions below:

I am using
Recovery: 4ext recovery
ROM: ViperS 1.1.0
Kernel: SebastianFM kernel
Radio: I dont remember exactly, but this is from latest 3.33 firmware
I use UV -100mV modified by myself, min 192MHz max 1.24MHz, screen off freq max 384MHz, very stable, usually get up to 18 hours with moderate use with screen on around 3hours 30mins.

read my signature

Recovery: 4ext
ROM: Stock rooted HTC ICS ROM from the TMOUS 3.32.531.14 RUU. De-bloated and de-sensed with ROM Cleaner and Titanium Backup.
Kernel: Stock
Radio: 11.69A.3504.00U_11.23.3504.07_M2
I'm very happy with my current setup. Very stable, easy on battery, and is fast as I need it to be. I do miss the theming of beloved Elegancia, but I recently picked up ROM cooking as a learning hobby again, so this is where I am right now. I never would have run stock anything back on Gingerbread, but TMOUS finally did us right with our much delayed ICS release.

Whoaah! These are nice setups. I'm checking all these ROMs out too. I must say this will be a hard decision.

My signature too says

Fw: 3.33
Recovery: 4ext Touch
Rom: bruce's CM10 Kang 8/07
Kernel: Tamcore 3.0.39

Hi there! I'm using 4ext recovery as it has proven to be easy to use with many wonderful features! My Rom is lightning as it is very fast and stable. My kernel is bricked as I like it for battery life. My firmware is 3.33 the newest ics firmware. My radio is 11.76a 3504.00p_. Hope this helps you out and welcome to xda! Best wishes to you and your new device!

[Q] Sensation XE Stock ROM for Sensation?

Hey guys,
I have been locking for a stock ROM of the Sensation XE but all I found where custom ROMS based on the XE.
Are there any working stock Sensation XE ROMs? Couldn't find anything with the search function.
1. S-OFF
2. Super CID
3. Flash the XE RUU
You now have a 100% stock XE, albeit with 1.2GHz rather than 1.5GHz

The Sensation and the Sensation do have the same hardware except for the battery right?
Is it possible to clock the Sensation to 1,5GhZ?
Yep, but you need a custom kernel for it

Is there a ROM which is basically stock but has a custom kernel clocked to 1,5 GhZ?
Kind of turning the Sensation into a Sensation XE?
Yep, InsertCoin or Android Revolution HD (not the Sense 3.5 versions)
OR, my stock XE ROM + the recommended kernel

flash EddyOS stock xe Rom then just flash a different kernel over it. You cannot I don't think have pure stock and custom kernel.

Hi guys,
first of all: i am using currently Android Revolution HD 4.1.9 on my HTC Sensation.
but, i am tired of flashing custom roms and looking for the "best" rom.
Now, i guess i want backt to Stock Rom. With flashing Eddies Rom is it possible to receive OTA's in the future (because of coming ICS).
Thx for short reply...

Look the thing is, as soon as any hint of ICS ROM test or official gets leaked, I guarantee that within 2 days there will be custom ROM's so best stick to non stock for now.
To answer your question, no I don't think it possible to receive OTA updates on EddyOS

Yes, with a rooted phone you can install custom a Kernel or Rom.
Download and install ROMmanager. This will allow you to install Clockworkrecovery. Once that is installed you can download your choice of Kernel - I can personally recommend Bricked or Faux kernels - found elsewhere here on xda. Save the downloaded file to your sd card and select the Install ROM from SD card option in ROM manager.
NOTE: Before you install this, make a NAND backup - you will get prompted by Rom manager - this will allow you to restore back to your current position if you experience any problems or are unhappy with the update.
All this information is available in the forums http://forum.xda-developers.com/forumdisplay.php?f=1109

[Q] different ROMs

now there are several types of android4.0+sense4.0 ROMs out there, currently I am using Ordroid 1.8.3 ROM (beats audio, BT are not working) for my Sensation XE , I am a noob, so I want to ask: will my phone possibly be bricked if I flash different android4.0+sense4.0 ROMs? I heard that many phone owners got their phone bricked when they are trying to flash and change different 4.0 ROMs...
I got firmware 2.32, super CID, 4EXT recovery touch 1.0.0.4 RC3 in my phone.
Thanks for all your help.

This is a good if not the best 4.0 ICS rom. There is pretty much no issues, everything works and it is senseless. It has very good battery life also, just follow directions on how to update everything, it is fairly easy
Read the developer's instructions
First use the recommended firmware. Almost all HTC sensation ics roms use the 3.32.4xx firmware go to mikes http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1098849 and lea;rn more about it. I'm currently using Opensation CM9 ICS 4.0.4. I installed the 3.32.40xxx firmware and I installed almost all the popular ics ROMS and it worked perfectly. Just use the recommended firmware and don't install ics with sense 4.0. Use mike1986 roms or the senseless virtuous Inquisition and they work perfectly with the 3.32.4xx firmware.

I run OrDroid and freakin love it. Sense UI is far superior to stock, as long as you don't use the Sense launcher (use something like Apex or LauncherPro or whatever you want).
The other parts of Sense UI (camera, contacts, browser, etc) are FAR superior.
OrDroid w/ Sense 4 runs smooth as silk on the Sensation.
Best is elegnacia.in my opinion...

Same here im only 16 lol ull get it just read my fave is CM9 though its getting better every week
Shouldn't even be mentioned, I started flashing roms on my T-Mobile HTC Shadow which ran Windows Mobile 6 at 17. Loved it.
ARHD is great for a first-time modder for two reasons:
1. The ROM is solid, stable, and further customizable.
2. The documentation is clear.
I visited the site, http://www.htcsensationroms.com, and read about the different ROMs and their procedures. Android Revolution HD (ARHD) is the one I recommend. Follow the conditional logic in the documentation and it will navigate you to different posts in order for you to obtain the tools necessary to prepare your phone and satisfy all of the requirements before you actually flash (firmware), wipe (phone), and flash (ROM).
Before you actually do anything to your phone, I recommend that you take time first to read thru the various posts you will pop as you learn how to satisfy one prerequisite after another. Familiarize yourself with the process and the steps you will have to take. Build a mental checklist (or use pencil and paper) of the things you will need to do before the step when you actually boot up your phone into bootloader have it automatically install the contents of PG58IMG.zip.
It all starts here...and there lies within.

Hi,
You need to run a RUU
Look HERE
Choose a Gingerbread RUU.
This will return your phone completely to stock.
You can then, re-install a custom recovery and flash a GB ROM
May I suggest ARHD

Don't go back to stock. If u want a stock look go for "Android Revolution HD" Rom. It has 100% stock look. much better than stock. It will converted your sensation to sensation XE with beats audio. Very fast & smooth. better batery life. very good for gaming!!
Download ARHD rom & flash it via CWM recovery. ARHD installer will ask you to flash a custom kernel or stock. Select custom kernal. after that select sebastian FM kernel or Faux kernel. I flashed sebastian. It's good for me.(because better battery life with good performance & features)
Install this ROM & check your benchmark scores.. Quadrant benchmark shows around 3800-4500.(on my device)
google a stock benchmark score screenshot of sensation. On stock Qudrant benchmark shows only about 2300.
It proves it's very performance than stock. Also on gaming.
press "thanks" if I helped U!!

Hi,
You can still flash this ROM with your setup.
Make a nandroid.
You must wipe your phone in recovery.
Flash the stock kernel in the aroma setup
Wow guys thanks for all the help I just finished flashing and the speed difference is really noticeable I really appreciate all the help and I'm staying with this Rom for a long time.
Just one question before I run along and enjoy this rom, are the home button, option, back, and search buttons on the bottom suppose to always stay on?

[Q] Which ideal kernel for Vipers 1.6.3 ?

Hi All,
I need your suggestion which best Kernel for ROM Vipers 1.6.3 except the default Kernel (Bricked)?
Currently I use the default kernel, but the wifi looks unstable (diconnected somestimes).
What I need are:
Stable and good performance kernel for daily purpose (no game used)
Better battery life
Previously I tried Sultan r17.5 but my HH has immediate reboot while got incoming call
HH: HTC Sensation XE
ROM: Vipers 1.6.3
HBOOT: 1.29.0000
Radio: 11.24A.3504.31_M
Locked Bootloader
S-OFF
You might want to change your setup. I've seen better performance compared to bricked with worthy battery trade-off.

I'm not disagreeing with you, but I was reading in the forums because I have 1.6.3 since their newer version, 3.0 or something doesn't have the camera, so it's a big turn off for me until that's fixed. But they said something about flashing another kernal over could brick the device for their ROM... or ruin it for that matter. I've been in bootloops and stuff before, so I'm curious... maybe that's just for their new version? I always stick with the default kernal because I'm still learning what half the stuff is. But if you can flash a kernal to 1.6.3 then I might give it a shot.

Since I've flashed Vipers 1.6.3 the developers suggest me that use the Sultan Kernel... Daily the rom seems to be good, stable and smooth ..... except in wifi (sometimes) and with tethering/mobile hotspot (the phone or disconnect automatically the hotspot OR the phone reboots every 10-20 minutes)
With a reflash I gonna see if these problems get out!
Sultan Kernel RULES!!
u have the one which come with the rom u can find it in a folder in your sd called venom (after u flashed the rom of course)

My phone is getting very buggy with Vipers 1.6.3 and I don't know why. I tried wiping caches but after 1 day it returns in a buggy state. Very slow to open apps and to switch from one to another. Maybe is a kernel problem? I'm using default (Bricked)

I have tried flash Sultan r17.5 but my phone got reboot while got incoming call.
Also tried to flash SebastianFM 1.5.2 but this kernel has no S2W
Try faux kernel. Its my favorite sense kernel.

I got reboots during phone call on sultan r17.5 (happens rarely but was unable to capture the last_kmsg) and on faux kernel (more frequent here)
I found sebs kernel is the most stablest of all but I'm a die hard fan of s2w (can't live without it)
And finally there is a kernel with sebs sources and s2w along with minimalistic changes.. It's the Grogg kernel 3.0
He recently opened a thread for it.. Do check it

I use faux and never had any problems. It's gives the best performance. Sultan kernel is good though it gives some glitches. Using faux 12u

I have noticed that with ViperS 1.6.3 you can get reboots on incoming calls when you use "auto brightness" or the "AOSP lock screen".
So try disabling them, wipe cache/dalkiv and see if the problem goes away (it did in my case).
