Ok, I made a good-faith effort at looking for something on-topic but didn't find anything (I'm a n00b).
I've done several digitizer/lcd repairs on Iphones and the HTC 4G.
Here's the story: Broke screen. Ordered new digitizer and LCD. Took phone apart, replaced parts. Turn on phone and I get this:

Did I damage any of the ribbons? Simply put it together wrong?
Another problem- I'd like to go back and double check, but now that its on it appears theres no way to turn it off short of taking the battery out (which didn't seem straight forward and still risks shorting something). Any other way of turning off the device just using the hardware?
Thanks guys,
e
Hold the power butoon down and the capacitive buttons should blink and it should restart or turn off. Or just wait for the battery to die

Pull it back apart and double check ALL your ribbons. As you know, having taken it apart before a couple of them are pretty tricky to get snapped into place. Most likely forgot one or didnt snap one it quite right. Also, plug it into your pc to see if its recognized. Its got power, just no signal from the board. Good luck and take your time. I bet it will be just fine.

I am usually super careful, so this actually hasn't happened to me before. I'm assuming its definitely related to the LCD, right, since the screen is lit but distorted?
One thing i've thought about is whether the flex cord connectors have to be put in facing up or down. One side of the ribbon is red at the connector point and the other is the yellow/orange color. Anyone know which side is supposed to be facing up? I'm about to open it up again and redo the connections.
Thanks,
e

What's going on with my screen? There is like a blue sploch in the left upper corner of it?

Any help? This hasn't happened to my nexus s or anything else I own?
Looks like the lcd's bad. Still have warranty left?
Looks like a smurf had fun with your screen.
Send it in for warranty, you got a bad lcd.

Yeah I will see if I can get it replaced. Crap that's annoying

Contact them. They'll most likely need an IMEI number or serial..
You'll be fine. Do a titanium backup or nandroid backup and send it in.

It almost looks like the screen got too close to a magnet.

Almost but the pattern looks too much like leaking fluid for me to think that. Also, I don't think LCD screens are effected by magnets like that. Correct me if I'm wrong because I'm not about to start dropping magnets on this one..

Moisture....you dip it in the stool?
Did you happen to install screen protector with an included fluid? Same happen to my Inspire me when I got little too generous with the fluid on the screen. But then I left it in a spot next to my radiated heater inside a paperback for overnight and it dried off and completely went away.
Has there been any excess pressure on the screen? That's really weird. I'm curious now LOL

I think it might have been the screen cleaning apart I used.

Wow Hans...get a bit carried away?
i recently broke my volume rocker button... i wonder can i replace it?
I very nearly broke mine.
I was trying to undo the side cover without looking but accidentally got my fingernail in behind the volume switch and pulled it out and slightly bent it.
So far it's still OK - but I panicked and looked around and you can buy replacements. Not sure how to fit it without bending it though..
Greetings, good friend to a friend also broke, and bought a replacement on ebay and he placed it without problems.
I broke my volume rocker as well, also while opening the side door. [rant]It's a design flaw IMO.[/rant]
Currently ordering the volume rocker from ebay. My fingers are crossed that it will fit, and I can get it installed without causing damage to the flimsy part.
I will try and remember to post an update once it arrives and I've installed the part.
Seriously though, $10 for a tiny piece of cheap plastic.
For now I've glued the pieces together but the button doesn't sit quite right.
Piece of sh!t

I think you can get ones on eBay from Hong Kong that have a slightly different mounting mechanism so they dont break again. Not too sure on that though.

I sent my phone back to HTC and they replace it. Why to buy it from ebay, and lost warranty with opening the case?
I broke mine off on purpose because the volume down button wasn't working, managed to fix it and get it back together, I lost the link to the thread where I went through the steps but if you search the DHD section you should find it.
my vol down stopped working, it would work probably 1 in 50 attempts, and really annoyed me, and after a lot of pressure and jiggling one day, i screwed it up worse, and the vol up was permanently pressed! restarted my phone later that day and it wouldn't go past the factory reset choice thing! had to get it replaced on insurance!
Hey everyone.
This phone was dropped.
Based on taking apart my HTC Incredible 2 to try and see if i could get it to stop overheating, i am confident I can replace the screen on this one, the wife is quite fond of it.
Please give me some idea of what parts are needed.
1. There are NO VISUAL CRACKS on the device, screen etc.
2. The screen seems pretty responsive but i cant really test every part of it due to the display issues...
thanks in advance, i promise to click the thanks button...

If their are no cracks on the screen then its the LCD. But personally I would get the LCD/digitiser combo where they are already attached together. Much easier than trying to separate them and replace one
This is what it looks like if it'd be both the screen and digitizer
I feel your pain wish I could replace mine xD.
Sent from my Inspire 4G using xda premium
thanks to both.../
i guess it would be easier to just replace both at once. from what i have seen with taking apart my Incredible 2 you need a hair dryer to take the screen and digitizer apart, so that seems like a hassle.
I appreciate the answers.
You're welcome yeah its definitely not that easy I'd recommend getting the package over jut the LCD. Because you might break the screen when you try and take them apart. So get them together

I have replaced a LCD/digitizer for this phone also. This video shows how I did it. I think it is better to do it this way because in other videos I've seen, they have you disassemble parts of the phone that don't need to be. You may have to put down new adhesive on the back of the LCD. I did. One other thing, the light diffusers for the home, menu, back and search buttons usually don't come with the new LCD/digitizer so you will have to use your old ones. They aren't fun to put in. Good luck!!
Sat on my tf300t earlier. Broke the LCD, but not the digitizer. Go figure. Does anyone know if I need to get new tape or can I reuse the old tape between the digitizer and LCD. I already took it apart and it is almost fully intact. Only 2 small gaps where it tore a little.

Ordered a new one from laptopscreen.com. $76 shipped. I had to remove metal tabs from new LCD frame with my dremel. Looks great. I should have replaced the digitizer tape where it got messed up a little from when I separated old LCD from digitizer. A little light bleed from the damaged digitizer tape in 2 small areas. Other than that all good.

Take it apart and reseat the digitizer cable.
If that doesn't help you probably damaged the digitizer when you seperated it from your LCD. Last time I checked it was about $120 for the digitizer.

Thanks i found a place on eBay that will fix it for $100 our something

I have a Nexus 5 that has run fantastic until just after the lollipop update. I began to think that somehow this update was responsible for several issues, one of them that the Qi charging had stopped working.
I read through all the threads on Qi charging.
Different chargers
Different USB cables
Different Wall Warts
People who had removed the cover, not getting it back on right.
Pressing to snap the cover contacts back into engagement.
None of it helped, that is until I decided the other night to push down on the whole phone while it was on the charger. I had to press pretty hard, but it would charge.
I noticed, that when I did this, it squeaked in the middle along the edge where the power button is, and there was a small gap between the case and body (not big enough for a finger nail to fit).
First I called Google today to see what they had to say. I got the "It's out of warranty. No idea what's wrong. Call LG".
So since it's not under warranty and they had no clue, I pulled the back cover. I expected a broken clip, bulged battery, something. I couldn't find anything that would press out on the case, and all the clips looked intact. (Pictures in a later post, don't have another phone / camera at the moment.)
I put it back together, made sure the clips were all lined up and snapped home properly. Same gap, same squeak when I squeeze the middle edge below the power button.
If I ONLY squeeze this portion together though, it doesn't seem to fix the Qi charging issue. I have to push down on the whole phone.
Looking for your input. I see Amazon has the back covers in stock. But I don't want to buy one just to find out that it's the battery. (I know, not much help without pictures. I'll get them posted tonight).
Thanks!
-Matt
If it is buldging it is probably the battery. I'd replace that.

I didn't think it was bulging, but I have two of these, and I can feel the thing through the cover on this one.
So... where's the best source for a new battery?
