broke my volume rocker! help!!! - Desire HD Accessories

i recently broke my volume rocker button... i wonder can i replace it?

I very nearly broke mine.
I was trying to undo the side cover without looking but accidentally got my fingernail in behind the volume switch and pulled it out and slightly bent it.
So far it's still OK - but I panicked and looked around and you can buy replacements. Not sure how to fit it without bending it though..

Greetings, good friend to a friend also broke, and bought a replacement on ebay and he placed it without problems.

I broke my volume rocker as well, also while opening the side door. [rant]It's a design flaw IMO.[/rant]
Currently ordering the volume rocker from ebay. My fingers are crossed that it will fit, and I can get it installed without causing damage to the flimsy part.
I will try and remember to post an update once it arrives and I've installed the part.
Seriously though, $10 for a tiny piece of cheap plastic.
For now I've glued the pieces together but the button doesn't sit quite right.

Piece of sh!t

I think you can get ones on eBay from Hong Kong that have a slightly different mounting mechanism so they dont break again. Not too sure on that though.

I sent my phone back to HTC and they replace it. Why to buy it from ebay, and lost warranty with opening the case?

I broke mine off on purpose because the volume down button wasn't working, managed to fix it and get it back together, I lost the link to the thread where I went through the steps but if you search the DHD section you should find it.

my vol down stopped working, it would work probably 1 in 50 attempts, and really annoyed me, and after a lot of pressure and jiggling one day, i screwed it up worse, and the vol up was permanently pressed! restarted my phone later that day and it wouldn't go past the factory reset choice thing! had to get it replaced on insurance!

[POLL] Did you remove the paint on your ear-piece?

It appears to be a very common problem that the black paint on the Captivate's ear-piece has a tendency to scratch off VERY easily.
I am curious as to know how many people actually got fed up with trying to repair this awful blemish; and decided to just scratch all the paint off to make it look better.
Personally I removed the black paint completely and kind of like the silver that remains.
What are your thoughts?
What? I've never heard anyone mention this. My paint is fine.
first I've heard of this, and mine is just fine as well.
The paint literally flaked off of mine just by rubbing my thumb on it.
No issues here, maybe you got a defective model?

This is bizarre I've never heard of this happening lol
If my model is defective, I don't think they would ever replace it because it's physical damage.
no problem here either,,if they sound good your good to go
No issues for me, trim your ear hairs.............

I actually don't talk on the device very often, I'm more so a texter
Anyway, it was more from putting the phone in and out of my pocket:
Here is a picture I just took:

Mine is fine and i carry it in my pocket with no case. I would think that the piece would be annodized and not painted. Probably got one with a bad grille. If you complain enough they may replace it - hard to say.
In all honesty, it literally started as a small chip in the "paint"; I touched that up with a sharpie.
Next day I had another chip, I rubbed it with my thumb and more came off - at that moment I decided to just rub the rest off and it just flaked away into dust.
Never thought of it....My phone is a tool not a piece of jewelery. Scratches and blemishes don;t bother me. I don;t use a s case and carry it in my pocket with keys and crap. I do use a screen protector though. As far as paint goes...Meh..not worth worrying about of "fixing"

White screen after lcd/digitizer replacement

Ok, I made a good-faith effort at looking for something on-topic but didn't find anything (I'm a n00b).
I've done several digitizer/lcd repairs on Iphones and the HTC 4G.
Here's the story: Broke screen. Ordered new digitizer and LCD. Took phone apart, replaced parts. Turn on phone and I get this:

Did I damage any of the ribbons? Simply put it together wrong?
Another problem- I'd like to go back and double check, but now that its on it appears theres no way to turn it off short of taking the battery out (which didn't seem straight forward and still risks shorting something). Any other way of turning off the device just using the hardware?
Thanks guys,
e
Hold the power butoon down and the capacitive buttons should blink and it should restart or turn off. Or just wait for the battery to die

Pull it back apart and double check ALL your ribbons. As you know, having taken it apart before a couple of them are pretty tricky to get snapped into place. Most likely forgot one or didnt snap one it quite right. Also, plug it into your pc to see if its recognized. Its got power, just no signal from the board. Good luck and take your time. I bet it will be just fine.

I am usually super careful, so this actually hasn't happened to me before. I'm assuming its definitely related to the LCD, right, since the screen is lit but distorted?
One thing i've thought about is whether the flex cord connectors have to be put in facing up or down. One side of the ribbon is red at the connector point and the other is the yellow/orange color. Anyone know which side is supposed to be facing up? I'm about to open it up again and redo the connections.
Thanks,
e

Build quality on SW2?

It started to move in its socket a few weeks back and today it popped out when I took off my sweater.. Anyone else had it go this far?

Had mine for two months no broke
yeah, mine does that. it still stays in the socket. i need to put some clue before it jumps out!
Sent from OPO.
Mine did that I sent it to Sony and they replaced mine. I had to send my eBay receipt of purchase and it was a new unit.
Mine unstick again after having already been changed once Very bad quality of Sony SW2 !
Have mine for 5 months now and fortunately don't have that problem.
Mine keeps falling apart..
Still going good after almost a couple of years Had to use some glue about a year ago, Had no issues ever since. Battery Still holding 3 days charge with a lot of notifications. Overall this smartwatch has proven a good choice for me.
Kudos to Sony.

I've glued mine up a few days ago. The lid on the charger socket fell off, but the rubber/plastic part was still in, so I couldn't charge it. Also glued the watch to its frame as I already had the glue at hand. Battery is still holding 3 days for me. Indeed a good choice!

Nexus 5 - Warped Back Cover / Swollen Battery?

I have a Nexus 5 that has run fantastic until just after the lollipop update. I began to think that somehow this update was responsible for several issues, one of them that the Qi charging had stopped working.
I read through all the threads on Qi charging.
Different chargers
Different USB cables
Different Wall Warts
People who had removed the cover, not getting it back on right.
Pressing to snap the cover contacts back into engagement.
None of it helped, that is until I decided the other night to push down on the whole phone while it was on the charger. I had to press pretty hard, but it would charge.
I noticed, that when I did this, it squeaked in the middle along the edge where the power button is, and there was a small gap between the case and body (not big enough for a finger nail to fit).
First I called Google today to see what they had to say. I got the "It's out of warranty. No idea what's wrong. Call LG".
So since it's not under warranty and they had no clue, I pulled the back cover. I expected a broken clip, bulged battery, something. I couldn't find anything that would press out on the case, and all the clips looked intact. (Pictures in a later post, don't have another phone / camera at the moment.)
I put it back together, made sure the clips were all lined up and snapped home properly. Same gap, same squeak when I squeeze the middle edge below the power button.
If I ONLY squeeze this portion together though, it doesn't seem to fix the Qi charging issue. I have to push down on the whole phone.
Looking for your input. I see Amazon has the back covers in stock. But I don't want to buy one just to find out that it's the battery. (I know, not much help without pictures. I'll get them posted tonight).
Thanks!
-Matt
If it is buldging it is probably the battery. I'd replace that.

I didn't think it was bulging, but I have two of these, and I can feel the thing through the cover on this one.
So... where's the best source for a new battery?

Bought one on eBay last night. Fingers crossed!
right way
I had exact the same issues Like you ., and your battery looks to me extreme swelled ,and is for me definitive broken and you can expect much better battery live after replacing this one :victory::victory::highfive:
When my battery looked like your' s it had only about 1300 mah instead of 2200
So good luck :fingers-crossed::fingers-crossed:

Inner screen protector failure.

All of the sudden this morning started peeling off from the center. There is hard bump under this spot from day 1 when you fully open the hinge. Now what? Remove completely or take it to the Samsung service center to apply new one? The whole purpose of keeping this phone because of beautiful big screen is now gone. Time to dust off my "old" Note 20 Ultra?

That sucks.
This why I loathe these phones.
I would send it back to Samsung; don't make their mistakes yours.
Personally I'd press them for a full refund.
This technology isn't ready for prime time.
No more exploding batteries but still the Fold screens continue to fail...

Just peel it off and install an aftermarket one. It is so much better than what the phone came with. That's what I did and I love it. Took me about 7 protectors til I found one I liked. I'm partial to the matte ones. The screen is resilient, i just yanked mine off. Some leave it off and have never been happier.

There shouldn't be any bumps underneath. There could be some small particle lodged in there. Go to the service center, get them to repair under warranty or better yet, ask for a replacement or refund.
