In the top drop menu with all the toggles is the Sound toggle ("Vibrate - Mute - Sound"). I always keep it on vibrate.
I have noticed that the sound setting gets changed without my input. This has happened at least a dozen times so I don't think it's me accidentally doing it. I can't find a pattern to when it happens and it drives me crazy when the phone rings in a meeting or other inappropriate time.
Any ideas?

This can be toggled with the volume rocker on the side when the phone has been unlocked. You're probably doing this by accident.
This happens to me once in a while when I wake up in the morning and press the volume rocker to snooze my alarm.

Right you are - thanks. This is a drag though. Holding it with one hand it is almost impossible to press the wake key without also pressing the volume rocker. Not to mention accidental grabbing as you mention.

Why does only the ringer volume change when I use the volume rocker on my home screen? I realize it specifically says "Ringer volume," but is there a way to have my notification volume relatively change as well? I could have sworn this was the case with my old G1.
For example, in the volume settings I have ringer volume set at 100% and notification volume set at 50%. It would be extremely convenient if I used the volume rocker to bring 'ringer' down to 50% and the notification volume would go down by half as well, bringing it to 25%. Similarly, if they were both at 100% in the settings, they'd both be at 50% after I used the rocker to bring 'ringer' down to 50%.
p.s - ever say a word so many times to yourself that it loses meaning?
I do too!!! Lol I want it to be the same
Sent from my SGH-T959V using XDA App
hey everyone, is there any way to disable the volume controls when the screen is locked? i accidentally hit it sometimes when i am at work and its in my pocket.
i found this app to be helpful for me.

Didnt work, I can still press the volume buttons while off- turning on the screen-changing the volume.
Hello, I havent find how to put phone in silence, with volume buttons only goes to vibration mode, and there is no silence mode in settings, only way I found is to set ringtones to silence which is odd and slow.
Thanks

Volume buttons does enable silent mode. It's just one "up volume" click away from vibration. So it goes Vibrate -> silence -> volume 1 -> 2 -> etc.
If that doesn't work for you, long press your power button so the power off screen appears. Right under turn off there are 3 icons, for silent, vibrate, and sound. Click one of them and voila.

i think you mean one "down volume" from vibration? at least on mine it goes silent, vibrate, then ring. if you hold down volume down, it will go straight to vibrate. push volume down again once on vibrate, and it will go into silent mode.

I made a small workaround that is very handy!
I used Nova Activities widget to create a shortcut to the Sounds and Notificaitions --> Interruptions activity.
Whenever I want to sleep, I simply tap the widget on my homescreen, turn off Calls as priority notifications and go to sleep with peace of mind.
As soon as I wake up, I simply enable Calls as priority interruptions again by using the Nova widget
I know this is a workaround but this is the best way I found so far to solve this irritating problem on Android Lollipop.
I would also love to hear about any workarounds that anyone else on XDA has hacked together! Probably whip out a dialog UI using Tasker?
Hit thanks if my post helped you :good:
I got my phone today and everything is working fine except that i cannot get it out of the vibrate mode. i cannot slide the ring volume bar and it is stuck on 0%. i tried third party app and it can only get it vibrate or mute. Is this a hardware issue? or anyone else experiencing it?
You known the alert slider inn the right of the phone (next to the power button?)

yeah i know where it is and i can move the media and alarm bar but not the ring bar.
He meant the silder on the right, not the volume buttons. With the slider above the power button you can manually toggle ring, vibration and silent mode. When this slider is on vibration, it is not possible to increase the ringtone volume with the volume buttons.

I feel like an idiot. This is my first oneplus phone and i didnt knew about this. Thank you very much man.
The other day I adjusted my volumes all to around 80% via the sound and notifications options. A couple of days ago, I noticed that my ringer is muted (the bell shows a diagonal line through it with the volume slider all the way to the left). If I tap on the ringer icon, nothing happens. If I try to slide the volume slider with my finger, it does not react. If I try to adjust it using the volume buttons, nothing happens. The other two volume sliders - alarms and media - work fine. I have DND turned off. I can't figure out why I can't turn my ringer back on. Anybody have any ideas?
Notification slider maybe ?

Above the power button you have a slide button.
It has 3 modes
Top- mute all, no vibrate
Middle- mute sound and vibrate only
Bottom - regular, all sound and vibrations. (this is where u want to have it if you want sound)
Thank You Whizeguy

I'm having the same problem but my slider won't work but I can't unmute my phone
I was having the same problem and didn't know it until I went to a web site that sends an sms. I had to restart the phone to turn ringtones back on.

Thank you so much, I totally forgot about that switch and was getting very frustrated till I read this response.
Thank you so much! I too was having trouble with mine and had not idea what was meant by the slider bar until you said it was above the on/off switch. Much appreciated!
BL
OnePlus7pro ringer muted.
You've got to be kidding lol
I've been walking around for 3 days without my ringer working and it was just the slide button!
Good grief, i must be dumber than a box of rocks?
Shout out to the guy that took the time to answer our dumb question.
