HDMI.. no audio to tv? - Transformer TF300T Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

So i hooked my tab to my tv for the first time last night, and cant for the life of me figure out how to get audio to the tv. My phone and my xoom automatically puts audio through the hdmi ro the tv. Is there a setting some where i missed or something?

Thanks for the info, that sucks... thats a pretty important flaw. No audio via HDMI pretty much makes it worthless in my opinion.

The CM10 rom just got updated to Round 11 and I think HDMI audio should work now. Try by yourself

I had the same problem the first time I tried it. I'm running US stock .30 fwiw. I unplugged, replugged and got sound.

G2x with cm7 HDMI connection

I was able to connect my g2x to my tv when i was on the stock rom of the g2x by using a microHDMI cable but now that ive flashed cm7 i cant no longer do that... is there any way i could do it once again?

You'd have to go back to stock for that. CM7 doesn't yet support it. They are working on it though.
the GB Leak ROM has it so that's what I use now to get GB until they do an actual update.

thats not true Ive been able to use HDMI out on all the eaglesblood and CM7 roms Ive used so far. I mostly use it to play emulators but oddly when i watch movies it always cuts out for a second every minute or so. its done that since stock
It works fine on eaglesblood but not on cm7 for some reason do you mind posting the link of the rom and kernel youre using so i can try them out and see if i get my hdmi to work on cm7

I am using nightly 59 but it has worked on all the CM7 builds i have tried.
Whenever i have odd issues i cant resolve with a rom or especially a nightly i do a full wipe rather than just davlink and cache
make sure when you restore your titanium backup your SD card folders are erased and backed up to your PC
no success with cm7.1 as well! what are your setting to get it to work? mine says mode not supported when i plug in, worked on stock though
Ive done nothing at all. I just flashed the rom and it worked right away.
No luck here either with EB 1.05 GB build or CM7 RC1.
are you sure its not the cable? I am now on CM7 RC1 and still haven't had any issues. In fact I just was at a friends house playing Mario kart and Mario world for over an hour on a 55" TV without an issue. though for some reason when watching video it losses connection for a second at random, but not with games.
I also have no problems using HDMI on CM7 nightlies. I think I remember someone posting here a while back that your tv/monitor has to be 1080 in order to work...if it's 720 it doesn't...don't quote me, but I think I remember something about that.

You may be right. My display is 720p and all CM7 builds do not output video. When using stock rom or based on the GB 2.4.3 leak then HDMI works fine on 720p display.
I hope they address this issue with the CM7 builds as well.
Now that I think about it the only time it didn't work was in a hotel. the TV screen was black. it could be that was a 720P TV, because I know every other TV Ive used is 1080p. I always thought the HDMI was blocked on the TV because the menu was grayed out
Any update on whether CM7 will support HDMI? Anyone using a stable nightly that reliably supports HDMI?

There is also no HDMI in Settings in CM7 latest stable release. The stock T-Mobile ROM did have an HDMI menu in Settings.

[Q] custom roms missing hdmi and dlna

i have a question, but i think its a more of a general statement. i just came from the hd2, as i'm sure many did, great phone, any type of android i wanted but no tv-out was only draw back for me. g2x hdmi, awesome. but i noticed all the non-stock roms are missing hdmi and dlna, why? what is the point in this phone if you dont utilize those features? i'm just curious, i'm not sure if its the major ability to build and flash ANYTHING on the hd2 thats got me bummed about the limits of this phone, but i'm just curious on why that is "cooked" out of so many of the roms...
There is no source, so they can't add it on anything other than 2.3.3 roms.
But I'm sure the CM team will eventually get it working like they did with the Bluetooth.

In the nightly cm7 thread, there are people reporting HDMI working ... I don't have a cable or I'd test it for you. Apparently there aren't any settings for it, it's supposed to just work.

Anything stock has it like Eagle'sBoold, WeaponG2X, etc.
MIUI, CM or anything with 2.3.5+ it doesn't work.

Yeah on CM7 its really buggy. Ex: I can only output 1080pi, and If i play an hd video on youtube or from a file the playback will cutoff. I can live with it its just not the best. And of course anything based on stock will work perfectly.

what about "smart share" dlna? i've been flashing roms to see what works etc, and finally flashed swift and put my sim card in and it says something about i dont have a data plan? or something, but i know it works and that i do. then i got it working in web browser and it said my plan was invalid with this phone, any thougts? i know its a new subject but i'm right here talking.

[Q] What ROM will let me use a bluetooth controller (wii remote) AND HDMI out?

Given the CPU power of this phone, I want to use it as a portable emulator station thing. My understanding is that stock-based ROMs (like what I'm running now, Tsugi) work with HDMI but due to LG's wonky BT stack Wii remotes can't connect. On CM7-based ROMs, the BT stack does work with Wiimotes but HDMI out doesn't work (or so I've heard).
Is there any ROM that works with bluetooth controllers, HDMI, and has a decent camera? Right now, I have everything but the BT controller support.
Anything based on CM7 (that included MIUI.) I know because I do it almost daily.

Cm does hdmi out perfectly fine. The only problem you might have is that you can't set the resolution in cm like in stock.
It does? I never knew that. Thanks. I assume it's stuck on 1080p (so it won't work on older 720p HDTVs)?
Would this (http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1094424) be a decent camera for CM7? Or is there a newer/better one?
Also, on an unrelated note, I remember you tahahawa from U8100 development. It seems a lot of us WIND users went from the U8100 to the P999.

Yeah I had that PoS Huawei, it worked okay. The p999 is a lot better. That camera I believe is quite old, from may. Just use stock or hdr camera from the market. There are a bunch un the market that are pretty good.
So I looked through some cameras and there is still no good video camera... is there any way to get 30fps video in CM7?

Thought it was in there by default
No the stock camera definitely does not do 30fps video. I tried camera zoom fx for photos and it's alright but for videos everything I've tried is sluggish. Might it have to do with the kernel I'm running? So far I've tried faux and Trinity kernels
I don't take much video on my phone, mostly pics. So I can't really help with the video part.

[Q] Nexus 5 Car Bluetooth Audio Streaming Quality

Hi, bought a Nexus 5 a few days ago, which is now running AOKP on stock kernel . Coming from a One M7 that was running Cyanogenmod 10.2.
I've noticed over the past couple days that the quality of the audio streaming via bluetooth to my car's stereo is comparatively much worse than my old One. In particular, I often get these very stringent, distorted high frequencies, especially when the music grows more complex. I don't recall any of this strange artifacting with my One. Could it have something to do with the better audio hardware of the One (superior DAC, amping, etc)? I don't know how much of an effect those would have on bluetooth streaming, though. Could it be the ROM I'm using has unoptimized bluetooth? Has anyone else noticed this?
I'm using the Google Music app if that helps anyone. Thanks in advance for the help.
The DAC and amplifier in the phone are not involved in the Bluetooth streaming process. Bluetooth is a digital signal so the digital-to-analog conversion is handled at the receiver end. The M7 does support Apt-X, which could have explained the quality difference assuming your car stereo also supports it (unlikely). You did say you were running Cyanogenmod though, and Apt-X is proprietary and thus I do not think it is supported in CM.
There could be an issue with the ROM. I know that CM11 is having some bluetooth audio issues, so AOKP may be as well. I would say a good first step would be to try stock and see if that resolves the problem.
Lastly, are you using the streaming functionality of Play Music? They did at one point change the streaming options so that it defaults to "Normal" quality instead of high. If you go to Play Music -> Settings -> Mobile Network Stream Quality, make sure High is selected.
Thanks for the tips. I tried adjusting the quality like you suggested, but I actually didn't notice any difference. I'm going to assume for now that this is a ROM issue and try stock when I get home.
I went through the arduous process of flashing a stock rom back onto the phone and tested the audio; there was no difference. I paired my old M7 to the car and played the same songs in comparison, and there was no question that it sounded much better. I think it bears repeating that the M7 is running 4.3.x, would that make a difference?
The issue comes up with upper treble frequencies, where it begins to sound very compressed and distorted, much like white noise. To eliminate all doubt, I played some CD's with the same songs, and they sounded crisp and fine.
Any additional help with this would be greatly appreciated. Streaming bluetooth audio in the car is very important to me and the inability to do so at a level of quality I would consider acceptable makes me rather inclined to return the phone. Is this a potential fix upcoming in 4.4.3? Thanks in advance.
I can confirm similar issues. My setup isn't going to win an high-fidelity awards, but I'm using a BT to FM converter. I do notice some clipping at high frequencies. For comparison, my N4 didn't have the clipping issue my N5 has, but the N5 sounds significantly brighter than the N4. The N4 was always a bit muddy on BT.
It could be an issue where the gain is too high by default. I'm not sure about AOKP but CM has the DSP manager built in, and you can adjust output for BT. Maybe play around with those settings?
I'll flash CM11 and see what results I get, thanks for the heads up.
I have the exact same issue. Will be following. I've found that the issue doesn't occur on anything CM based, probably because they use CAF drivers not AOSP. I'm currently running PA with Franco.
I have found a fix for 4.3 but I don't think it applies to kitkat.

That's a bit OT for this topic, but in short, unless your car supports A2DP you can't listen to music over that connection.

Interesting how you state that you don't perceive any issues with CM-based roms. I flashed 4.4.2 AOKP onto my M7 (which is coming from CM10.2) to test what the audio sounds like on it with KK, and I can confirm that the audio has the same issues the Nexus 5 has. With all the variables removed and with two different devices running the same ROM, I come to the conclusion that this is a software issue. I'm going to flash the latest CM onto the M7 later today to see if that resolves anything.
To say the least, this is frustrating, but good to see that there was a fix identified for 4.3. Hopefully that will trickle over to 4.4 soon enough.

If you go to system/lib/hw there should be a lot of files in there which tell the hardware how to work with the software. There should be one in there which is called audio.a2dp.default.so
To do this, you'll need a root browser or something which allows you to view root files.

I wanted to confirm that I don't perceive a huge difference with the CM rom, if at all. The signal has a hard time keeping the highs clean and sounds very strident at times.
Did you have the DSP Manager (in CM) set up on the One?
I have both the One and N5... I immediately noticed a difference in A2DP quality with DSP Manager on/off.
Wanted to come in here and also state that the bluetooth audio for the Nexus 5 can be improved quite a bit. I actually miss the audio quality of my iphone 4 with both the audio out via headphone jack as well as the bluetooth audio out.
Running purity rom + elemental x kernel
Is bluetooth the only way to play music in the car through your phone.
USB won't work? I tried it in my car and it didn't work but when I googled it some people say different radios might work.

Desktop Dock Audio and ROMs?

So one of my Christmas Gifts this year was the desktop dock, I get it home and plug in my Tab 2 7" to find I can't get audio out thru the lineout on the dock when running one of the versions of Dhollmen ROM, for some reason the dock audio setting was greyed out, so I switched back to Romswell V1.1 ICS because I had the zip for it on the tablet and it was based off the stock ROM. On Romswell the audio out thru the dock is working perfectly, so my question is for anyone out there that has a p311x tablet and the desktop dock that has tried other ROMs, which ROM's work with audio out thru the dock? This would save me a lot of bandwidth and time flashing different ROMs to try to find a more updated ROM that still has functioning audio out thru dock. Any help is greatly appreciated.
I have the same problem. After all I've red I think it's a bug deep inside AOSP/CM code (which eventually all the cooks end up using more or less...). If so, it won't get fixed any more (it's lollipop time).
Still, I'd be glad to hear there's a KitKat for our Tabie with working dock audio!
