Hey guys. My MMS Messages aren't working right for some reason. It used to be fine but yesterday 2 people sent me pictures through MMS and neither worked right. One was from and iphone the other was from a One XL. It says the resolution is 23x40 and I can't view them at all. Any help would be greatly appreciated. Also, I'm on cleanrom 3.2 if that matters!

Perhaps your phone compressed them really small. My phone does the same thing to pics and makes them small so that that take up only a thumb-sized portion of my screen. Seems to be a problem with HTC.

Yeah that's what it does. There has to be a way to fix it though

Check the senders phones before you go tearing yours apart. It's probably on their side.

are they the same pictures?
No. They were sent by 2 different phones and are different pictures.

same here. I had two people send me mms from different phones and the picture was thumbnail :/
iPhones are notorious for tiny mms messages

It's not just the iPhone there is something wrong with the way our phone handles mms. I had a buddy who has an iPhone and a buddy that has the same one x that I have send me the same picture we found online 5 times and it just seemed like it was every other picture that was messed up.

Has anyone figured out what causes this?
I wonder if the file is being compressed by the network to alleviate network congestion, possibly?
my friend sent me a picture and it was tiny resolution. he resent it, and it was fine.
weird.
stock 2.20 firmware
If you use go sms make sure "preserve image resolution" is checked in settings. Makes a huge difference.

This problem plagues tons of android 2.2.x devices...captivate and atrix included. They located the problem and patched it in CM7 for SGS. When we get it ported, the problem will go away.

Does anyone have problems receiving MMS pictures from iPhone users?? I tend to get a long message saying "one or more of the message components have been deleted by MMS Adaptation. Either the message was too large or the components were unsuitable for your terminal."
I used to get a similar message on the Atrix. Why the hell does this happen??
Not an Android issue, it's AT&T wanting to give you a "multimedia experience" which annoys the hell out of me. Once the ROMs come out, it'll be gone. It was the same with the HTC Aria, Samsung Captivate, and HTC Inspire 4G... With my last phone, Inspire 4G, any rom applied broke the play-button thing, so photos just showed up like on normal phones.
Why must AT&T try to get their hands all over everything? It's so annoying.
First thing I did when I got my phone was delete the stock samsung mms app and replace it with the stock aosp mms app
I use SUFBS but root explorer does the same....

Can someone please advise how to make my pics I receive via text to not run as a 5 second video? I'm not sure what I did but I'm certain it didn't do this initially.

Are you using stock messaging app or something else? Which ROM?
my mms have been doing this since android 1.1
yeah.
This is how the GSM network sends Android MMS'. If you find a friend with a Sprint or Verizon CDMA Android device, you'll see it just sends as a photo. Crazy, huh?
Actually I believe this is how Samsung devices handle it. Although I can speak for cdma devices, I know my atrix and nexus one didn't do this. Its just houw the stock app works. If you use a different app like go SMS the problem is gone.
I like the landscape view in the stock app which is why I didn't make the switch myself.

Yes I'm using the stock ROM and the original mms app. I guess perhaps it did this since day one but I'm realizing it now lol. Appreciate your responses and I may try a different mms app.

Hey all, wanted to see if anyone else has run across this problem. I've taken a lot of video and photographs on my HOX so far, and I've Gone back to find out that 4are listed as unplayable. These were taken from the devices camera itself, so I'm a little confused. They seem to have data associated with them, but no duration listed.
Anyone else?

Hey guys,
I have a problem that has always been on my phone throughout all CM10 ROMs that I have had. Whenever I would take a screenshot and would want to send it via MMS, it would turn really blurry when it is sent. But I can access it in the gallery app and it is not blurry at all. I think it gets compressed as it is sending, I am not sure.
Anyone else have this problem and/or knows how to fix it?
Thanks

Nah man. No one replied and then I got sad and then I forgot about it lol . I just email the pictures now if they are important. Unfortunately I have not found anymore info on this besides them being compressed while being sent.

Are you using a third party messenger I'm using go sms. I figured it out. You just have to go into settings and mess with the size that it sends.

For some reason every time I get a picture through text from someone it always shows up extremely small to the point you can't even see it. It only started recently and I have no idea why it is doing it. I am rooted but it was doing this way before that. Any suggestions? I've checked the settings for MMS and nothing appears out of the ordinary.
Sent from my HTC One X using xda app-developers app
You using a custom rom, or are you running stock rooted?
I have the same issue on CleanROM 5.1 and wasn't sure if it was just this rom or if something else was up.
I'm running cleanrom. It was the first rom I loaded after root. No problems. I swear it is the phone itself...because it did this before root. And after root it worked for a few days I was excited then BAM! Back to microscopic pictures.

i remember reading iin a few other threads around here that its carrier restrictions and is limited to how big a picture can be send through mms and gets compressed, PNG files seem to get compressed alot hence reduces the file size and quality dramatically and causes the tiiny pics.
for me on att ive only noticed this on PNG files everything else goes through fine. running custom roms/stock
Hmm. Yes I just realized one worked from my buddy s3. But it seems to screw up the ones sent from my friends iPhone...talking compressed down to 1kb lol. Literally.

i think that is an issue with the mms compression on the iphone and how our phones uncompress the images. make sure that you have you mms size limit maxed out. and something else you might try is a 3rd party sms app.
Yea I have the option set to max...I figured it was something to do with iPhone. Weird it just started happening. I will try another app but those usually end in people getting multiple text and whatnot. I always use go SMS but people would keep saying "you've sent me the same text twice" ugh.
