MX Player Video PlayBack Works on ICS Roms - T-Mobile LG G2x

Just wanted to share that MX Player using the Codec for Tegra 2 is able to play videos on ICS Roms. It uses S/W decoding as opposed to H/W because well we don't have hardware acceleration. But the S/W decoding has just as good quality as the H/W decoding. So if you want to watch videos on your ICS Rom you can try Mx Player. I have tested it on PanaroidAndroid build 5 and it works nicely.

How do I find the codec? Max player doesn't even start for me

That's weird are you sure you are using the right codec and on the top right when you open the player is says either s/w or s/w fast and not h/w? Because for me H/W works but it is massively laggy because that needs hardware acceleration but S/W fast work fine.

That's weird. It works really well on ParanoidAndroid maybe the EB dev team can talk to the ParanoidAndroid dev team and share fixes.

try panaroidandroid it at least works on that ROM

It also works with Genesis Stable ICS release. I tried it just to see after previous failed attempts on many ROMs but was surprised and excited that it worked.

It worked fine for me on every hell fire release too. I have a feeling the only reason it doesn't work on the egb is because you guys are doing something wrong, or like you said the devs need to talk to hell and the guy that makes paranoid

Have you checked media playback compatibility? As I understand it, stagefright removes support for a lot of media formats.

try changing the http to false, then try streaming again.
I noticed less buffering and clearer music (ie pandora, movies, anything streamed)
on some phones that breaks youtube.com mobile site but not the app. doesn't appear to break it on the infuse though
That's actually something I have been doing for a while now. The others I enabled but really noticed no difference enabled vs disabled other than quadrant increase.

H.264 is a video compression standard (such as mpeg4). It's used in blu-ray. You can find a few samples here to test. http://www.h264info.com/clips.html
Downloading now but I'm sure it does I just watched insidious on here but ill report back

Thanks for your effort. How do I enable that with Infused 2.1.0?
Its in /system/build prop
Click r/o and change them to

Hit menu key select quit save
Reboot
But I used tweaks and all that jazz to get higher quads.lol so this is at your own risk.its easy to switch back though it saves you a copy

it has always been my experience with Samsung gb that stagefright breaks .flac .mkv h264 .wav and a few others. i haven't tested on the infuse. it may just break. mkv and not all h264. the quadrant increase is likely due to an increase in h264 decoding speed and nothing else but it might be misreporting something or stagefright might not work with the Samsung movie player or the Samsung rom yet still apparently work in quadrant.
it shouldn't be a problem in cm7 where some formats need a 3rd party app that would be supported buy the Samsung app.

ICS 4.0 incredible S ---video in green screen

Hello, just want to ask is anybody know why my screen turned to render green while playing any video file?
Sent from my Incredible S using xda premium
What Player are you using? Assuming it's something naff like the default one, i would recommend using a better one from the Market. Try vplayer, moboplayer... or any of the other decent ones.
Did it do the same when on Gingerbread?
If not, I'd reccomend an alternative player as Dirk suggested
Thanks for replying..i'll try other player on market 1st..just want confirmation is anyone using this ROM in incredible s exprienced the same problem?

Maybe Your roms hw codecs are messed up, but you have let developers to fix it, but you can use mx video player to watch videos on your phone but it doesn't work with online videos, with mx when you start to play video, right top on your screen there should be box with hw, sw or sw fast reading in it if it says hw, press the box and change it to sw or sw fast

Just be patient, he has to support every LG phone that CM supports, he is the maintainer of CM on all LG devices.
Some day, our day will come that we have a fully working ICS ROM.
RC is a mastermind i dont know how he does it he is amazing , but im soo disappointed in these ROM's and im not blaming the devs, but hardware acceleration on the ROMS is nothing compared to stock, the stock rom seems smoother and way faster, and lack of drivers from LG is really annoying, do you know if LG would release a full source code with Nvidia drivers this april as its the expected of official ICS release
dumb question. What does video encoding do cause I can watch all videos and take pictures and record videos

[Q] Video playback Issue

Hi everyone,
Last night I observed a thing...
I have a couple of Optimus one, 1 is running on Official froyo 2.2.2 V10E and the second one is running on official GB 2.3.3 V20C.
The problem is that I am playing a Video on Froyo, it's playing too smooth but when i played the same video on My GB phone it seems a bit laggy..
I had tried some more video stuff, but the problem is same...
Why is it so.?
The phones are same, Videos are same...!!I am also running on Official versions too...
but then what the hell problem is ..
Can anyone help me in this regard..? that how can i improve the Playback on GB..?
Help me plz..
Thanks in advance.!!

Ya i m using a third party player....
I had used mobo n mx too. But found the same issue.
Hardware decoding is still a bit laggy...
To make my doubt clear that may be there is some problem in my GB phone... i had also flashed back to froyo.... n i m happy to know that the videos are playing smooth...
So its clear that there is no issue in the hardware of the phone..
I wonder ... may be this smooth playback is due to some froyo LIBS or some tweaks or scripts that helps froyo to make the playback smooth...
Can anyone help me
... or could anyone tried to port a patch for this issue... or some other solution ..
I want a smooth hardware decoded playback on official GB ......Thanks in advance...
...plz help me guys...

HD Videos on P3110

Hi,
When I try to play HD Videos or streams it will mostly be shown in slowmotion and jerking (audio is normal),
sometimes it works normal.
Has anybody an idea on what the videoplayback depends or what configuration can be set to make this
contantly working.
I run CM10.1, AOKP Kernel, 1,2 Mhz, interactive gov, cfq shed
Regards
Michael
