ASUS Mail Widget - Transformer TF300T Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Does anyone have the .apk for the ASUS Mail widget that comes stock on our tabs? I flashed to CM10, and forgot to back up my mail widget.

I have all the .apk's but they don't work with a simple install. I'm working on a solution because I love the stock weather and mail widgets, and some of the other stuff. So far, I've only been able to find an .apk for SuperNote and I'm still working on one for Polaris Office.
I suspect they require various .lib files, but I know the asus stock APK's are in the /system/app folder.

yeah i found the .apk on the net, but i had the same issue, it wouldnt install.

You have to put the .apk in your /system/app folder and modify the permission to rw-r--r--, I use Root Explorer to do it.
If that's wrong, dont think I am though, but there are a ton of threads out there that have stock widget .apk's and tell you how to get them to work.

How do you modify the file permissions? Just long-click and it'll let you do that through Root Explorer or is it a bit more involved than that?
If this is all it takes, then thats an awesome solution to my question from a few weeks ago, and that makes me one happy camper.

I tried this method on the BatteryWidget (copied the .apk from a stock backup I had lying around). Used Root Browser, copied the file into the /system/app folder, modified its permission to rw-r--r--, but it just gave the same message of "application not installed" almost immediately.
Did I do something wrong? Any other suggestions?

I will try this i was just changing the permission from the little box that says permission-r/w maybe thats why it didnt work i didnt long press to change them
sent from my DROID BIONIC via XDA App

XperieanceIT, I was able to install the Polaris Office .apk from within Root Browser without having to modify any of the permissions (it was rw-rw-r--) so just in case you want that, at least it works. Still no luck on the other Asus stuff I'm trying to install, but I'm also restoring my 289-file long TitaniumBackup :X

i couldnt get the email widget to install i tried rw-r--r--, rw-rw-rw, rwxrwxrwx, everything nothing worked

Flashing Other Tablets Themes

So by own tablet being stock would it be possible to flash another stock tablet theme on our tablet?.. An Example would be to flash a Xoom theme on our tablet since the Xoom is stock it shelf.. and if we cant what about atleast the systemUi.apk?
So dont NO one know if this is possible....

There's probably enough of a difference between the two framework-res.apk that it would probably not work correctly.
I wouldnt risk it.

Ok..so wat about using the systemUi.apk.. could it might work?
Sent from my Transformer TF101 using xda premium
My two cents: if it means that much to you, why don't you just create a theme based on whatever you want?

Like spidey stated it's probably easier to edit your own framework-res.apk and SystemUI.apk. If it's only graphical change (ie menu buttons)
-you can just extract your SystemUI.apk to you PC, change the extension to .zip (SystemUI.zip)
-Unzip it, edit what you like, zip it back up and change extension back to .apk.
-No need to sign it as it's a system app
-Push it back to it's location or use Root Explorer to move it there.
For more details editing you'll need to decompile.

[APP] AsusDayScene.apk STANDALONE for custom ROMs

This is a modified version of of the new AsusDayScene.apk, which was released for Prime last week.
I modified it so it works on custom ROMs that do not have the Asus tree wallpapers.
Extract the rar. Install the apk like a normal app. I had to rar because of the 8mb attachment size limit.
Update: Changed package name. Should install without problem for everyone now.
Thanks but doesn't work for me, "Application not installed"
CM9 rom
hmm I am using CM9 and it's working fine.
Did you already try to use the original version of asusdayscene.apk? then you need to remove that first.
works. thnx for this.
100 downloads and 2 replies. Wow I guess now I understand why people beg for thanks in their signatures. I still won't do it though.
So I can assume this works for everyone except the first guy who replied?
Work for me
It's perfect ! Thanks.

Asus Filemanager on ASOP Roms

I think Asus File Manager is the best file manager out there its very useful and fit well with the transformer functionalities. i dont think any other file manager out there come even close to it.
Is it Possible to run Asus stock File Manager on ASOP ROMS. I tried pushing the apk and some libs from stock roms on to cm9 roms but file manager get an FC when opening. I think its integrated much more deep into the ROM than i thought.
may be the devs working on asop rom can help to get it working on cm9 or other asop roms since its an popular request
BTW im running Megatron 1.01, its an great rom very smooth and functional and also has working 3g dongle drivers. i myself Huawei E173 which works perfectly. only thing i find missing is the asus file mannger.

I've been looking at it and it needs changes in the rom code.
Already made those changes and i'm now compiling a new build to test it.
Question! Why would you want the asus filemanager? I think it sucks :<

Asus File Manager is very well suited for Transformer. i like the notifications when plugging in hdd and pendrives. it makes ejecting and opening pndrive and hdd much easier.

The rom part is, but the app is still giving fc.
In the logcat it says it's something to do with a resource.
Will have to take a deeper look.

Surprise Surprise!
1 hour ago i got MyLibrary to work just in minutes.
And after some days, i finally got Asus File Manager to work on Megatron!!
Why Megatron? Because i implemented some things needed by Asus File Manager in Megatron 1.0.2 up .
I also needed to mod the apk itself, and although it works, there are 3 graphics gliches. But it's working!!

I desperately want to have mycloud for other non stock Rom. I need remote access to pc through splashtop remote. Thanks in advance!
I have tried titanium backup to extract the apk. But fail to launch it after installation. Seem to have missed something.
Since it's a system preload you'd probably have to pull it from /system/app or some other system location. I don't have it on my TF101 at the moment as I am running CM9 but use something like root explorer or ES File Explorer with superuser perms and you should be able to find the apk.

this is what i am looking for.
all you have to do is drop the LatinIME.apk in your system\app folder....replace it, fix its permission then reboot...after you try to use the keyboard, it will pull up the voice keyboard...close it then do it again and you should see your blackbean keyboard....i use it with whatever ROM im running at any given time
I installed it through apps installer. It didn't work the first few times but did after. It doesn't stayb installed though. I reinstall on every reboot or so

Must be installed to system/app and permissions set to rw-r-r for it to stick on boot. Sounds like it is in data/app.

i installed and ti said this is a system app, do you want to overwrite or something like that. So i think its going to the right location.
i fixed permissions in CWM, ill have to search for a way to set permissions, that must be different.
edit: downloaded solid explorer went to fix permissions and it woudnt let me do the combo you provided.
i got rw-r--r
