Im currently running AOKP. thats probably important.
i just tried to copy and paste the apk into system using astro and it made me overwrite the file, but when i went to use it it was still the regular keybaord. is it incompatible? or is there another way.

this is what i am looking for.

all you have to do is drop the LatinIME.apk in your system\app folder....replace it, fix its permission then reboot...after you try to use the keyboard, it will pull up the voice keyboard...close it then do it again and you should see your blackbean keyboard....i use it with whatever ROM im running at any given time

I installed it through apps installer. It didn't work the first few times but did after. It doesn't stayb installed though. I reinstall on every reboot or so

Must be installed to system/app and permissions set to rw-r-r for it to stick on boot. Sounds like it is in data/app.

i installed and ti said this is a system app, do you want to overwrite or something like that. So i think its going to the right location.
i fixed permissions in CWM, ill have to search for a way to set permissions, that must be different.
edit: downloaded solid explorer went to fix permissions and it woudnt let me do the combo you provided.
i got rw-r--r

Touchwiz 4.5 ***EDITED. PLEASE READ EDIT****

Just in case some were not aware, but, Touchwiz works pretty darn well on the GB infused ROM.
Link----> http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1061883
I downloaded his TW4 Manager and used the update feature in it to install the touchwiz but I didn't know that it would replace my current. When I did that, and tried to use the default msg app, touchwiz force closes every time you start doing something. So to fix that, I uninstalled TW4 Manager and went to system/app in root explorer and deleted the extra name it added to TouchWiz30Launcher.apk, and then it didnt force close anymore. I don't know if anyone else will have this problem but theres my fix for it.
*********EDIT*********
Some people are getting force closes and most is my fault for incorrectly giving instructions. Sorry.
A way to do it is just rename touchwizlauncher30.apk to something that would change its file extension. Like adding a letter after the .apk and then going to applications/manage applications in the setting then go to all and make sure you have all apps named touch wiz uninstalled and then go to the touchwiz site and just download the basic apk. Not touchwizmanager but just touchwiz4.apk or whatever the correct name is and copy it to system/apps and the click it and install it while still in the folder. Ultimatly, I ditched touch wiz 4 because it was causing my phone to reboot randomly when something was using too much resources. Make sure you have a back up launcher installed like go launcher or something in case you don't like touchwiz and decide to uninstall it from apps/manage apps/all because you wouldn't have a launcher left to do anything. If you want your original touchwiz back just go to system/apps and remove the extra things you added and make sure it says TouchWiz30Launcher.apk I'm not entirely sure if that last part about getting original touchwiz back would work since I ditched it too and just use go launcher but it should in theory work. Sorry for the inconvenience peoples.
*********EDIT*********
Another way to possibly install it without getting force closes would be to just download the TW4Launcher.apk and just copy it to system/app
I find this alot less laggy than the touchwiz that came with Infused V2. Hope yall like it as much as me.

Not really sure about this. I checked TWManager for the SGS2 widgets and it was empty. SGS1 widgets were there though.. Maybe he pulled them out or something for editing I guess.
I hope someone can figure it out or he tells us how he got them to work. That was the only reason I downloaded tw launcher 4.5

Sorry for my dumb question but what widgets are that good? I haven't bothered to check the sgs2 out as I'm pretty satisfied with my infuse
Loving tw 4.5, coupled with gtg's rom and bedwa's kernel it is very snappy. Launcher pro still is a bit more customizable, but tw looks cleaner and more sharp.
Infused with gingerbread **** thanks GTG465X
This also works well on Indused v1 Froyo. As for the widgets, I searched the Galaxy S (I9000) Themes and Apps forum. I've got 10 widgets from the SGS II. They all install, but some of them don't fuction completely. Don't know how I could share them here.

TW4 launcher and ssgii widgets
Ok here are the links for everything you need to get ssg2 widgets to work.
Download the the TW4.zip and flash via CWM this will flash TW4 and ssgii widgets. This will give you that simple looking clock.
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=14907138&postcount=549
Download this zip file from here http://forum.mobilism.org/viewtopic.php?f=444&t=207696 This contains the weather widget. Everything else in that zip is useless. Unless you want to use them.
and use this mirror http://www.megaupload.com/?d=WKTF4Q90 The other ones are ****e.
Using a file manager of some sort ie esfile explorer or root explorer. Extract the gs2app.zip and pull this file out "SamsungWidget_WeatherClock.apk.zip" and pull that file within that zip and place it into system/app
That should do it. Instructions are pretty straight forward.
Please hit 'thanks' if this has helped at all.
You are amazing! Thanks so much!!!!

You should flash the tw4.zip in CWM. That will install both touchwiz4 and some of the sgs2 widgets. Then use tw4 manager to update to the latest stable build. And enjoy.

[Q] Stock Skyrocket Calendar and Clock app

I recently just flashed my first rom on my phone and I love it. The only thing I dont like is that its pretty much stock ICS. Problem being I don't like the calendar app and the clock app, the touchwiz version was much better IMO. I have an unzipped version of the stock rom but I can't even find the two in there to extract. I need some help.. :\
Anyone?
Use root explorer and look in the stock .zip system/app for twcalendar.apk, twcalendarwidget.apk and such. Copy and paste to your current system/app (change mount o to w first) and fix permissions after. I'm not sure exactly what else you may need but bear in mind that touchwiz widgets will only work on touchwiz. Make a nandroid backup first because I just gave you some shoddy-ass instructions.

New HTC car dock update

Hi guys just a quick question. I read somewhere that the new att update had fixed the problem with the car dock app. Which was not allowing 3rd party music players like Pandora and slacker. Anyone confirm this ? And if so where can I find the app itself as I am on cleanrom. Thanks

there are 6 different files including odexes put them in system/app and change permissions. NO idea if these will work or if they require the 2.2x base
It just lets you put shortcuts. Go in the music app and add the shortcuts there, and they will appear in the car dock.

Did you copy them to system app and change the permissions? Also if you are running a deodex rom this won't work.
I think you dont get this in Cleanrom 4.5 lite edition (which is what I am running)
@gunny
you talked about putting it in system/app and changing permissions. Can you post a small howto please..
Use a root enabled file manager like root explorer put the files in /system /app. Then change the permissions on each apk to rw-r-r. and reboot. assuming that I pulled the right files lol.
Thanks,
Works brilliantly. Only the Automotive apk and odex files were needed !!
PS : I am learning new things everyday !! Thanks to XDA !!
Wow that even rhymes !!
Glad to help.
I would LOVE to have this on my Rezound. Can I just move the proper files and permissions to my phone?
I'm on ViperRez 1.0.3 (I think it's based off of a HTC One ROM), it's Android 4.0.3 and Sense 4.0. Would it be compatible?

Yep. Here's the apk I use, no resetting permissions or anything. It does not create a shortcut in the appdrawer however. But the app auto launches when docked.
Crap, can't upload it from phone. Will put it up shortly.
Does anyone have a deodexed version of the updated car app? And is the update JB only or does it work on ICS as well?

[Q] How do you get Google Now to work???

I'm brand new to the SIII, switched from a Rezound yesterday. I'm rooted, unlocked and running CleanRom. I know others have gotten Google Now to work but I'm at a loss for device specific install instruction! This is what I did and had no luck, kept getting force closes and black screens: downloaded the m7_velvet.apk to extsd....rename as 'GoogleQuickSearchBox.apk.....replace in /system/ app....change the permissions to read,write,execute/read,execute/read,execute....rebooted. Any help would be awesome!!

Very true, not going to complain too much and all I had to do was drop a few files. I renamed all the other folders/files it was supposed to overwrite so all is good, didn't need to take a nandroid or anything. Pretty nifty feature to have and takes stock rooted one step closer to JB.

Loading custom MMS.apk's

Hello, this is my first post... I hope its in the right place.. haha OK so the issue I'm having is... well first is it even possible to install/use another UI's MMS.apk? For example if I want to use maybe Motorola's MMS.apk? So I have tried (through root explorer) and it wants me to install it... so I tried but it failed.. how can I get around that and make it work?
Thanks for any help!

I'm probably wrong... change permissions on old apk to 774 then install.
Make a backup! Obviously

Thanks for the quick reply! I tried that but it still failed! And I tried using the app wonder machine app on my computer and when I tried it said something like missing shared files or missing shared library or something like that...
Sent from my One X using xda app-developers app
You don't need to install it...if you push it to system/apps and make the permissions correct you need to reboot in order for it to work. But most likely it's part of motoblur so it probably won't work.
Thanks! And that probably is part of it! Is there any way to get around it?
Sent from my One X using xda app-developers app
Use titanium backup to backup and uninstall the default app. Then put the mms.apk in system>apps. Reboot. If that doesn't work the mms app you're trying to use isn't compatible. I'm currently using the inverted aosp ics mms apk on viper rom.
