[Resolved][A700] How to install OTA Update on rooted tablet? - Acer Iconia A700 and A510

Hello,
I have rooted my A700 and cannot install the OTA update.
I tried at first to install the OTA update, but it said unsuccessful.
I downloaded Acer_A700_AV043.RV00RC00_AV043.RV22RC03_EMEA_DE.zip (Full ROM) from the thread http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1720157. Renamed it to update.zip and moved it to the external SD card. Installed it and then tried the OTA update, which failed again.
What should I do?
cheers.

Yeah well I noticed the missing questionmark after I submitted. And I cannot edit the title, as far as I can see.
And to the wrong section. you may be right and I should have posted it to Q&A.
@Moderator: would you be so kind?

Just a tip: When you edit a post, select the "go advanced" button after you select "Edit". Then you can edit the thread title.

@Moscow Desire: Thanks!
So now, to continue the story. I updated my tablet with the following ROMs I found in Threads
Acer_A700_AV043.RV07RC06_AV043.RV23RC02_EMEA_DE_1342775542065_59889efc_decrypted.zip
But the Bootloader is still unlocked and I cannot update.
I wanted to install the Beta ROM but the link is down.
So what now?

This Thread did it!

[Q] Help Update failed??!!!

Hi,
I got the notification that a new update was available so clicked to install it and it rebooted then got the orange bar showing its progress. Now I just left the tablet for a couple of hours and have now just looked at it again and it had the screen asking me if I wanted to install the update?? So I clicked install and it said the update failed, so I was wondering if someone who has done the update could post their details in the About section so I can see if my wifi version, kernel version etc are the latest versions?
Thanks.

I've posted a few screens there in the first post of the build revisions. One pic is the original device with no update, the other two are updates 1 and 2 respectively. They are named as such so you'll see which is which.

That's odd. I just did the first update yet it matches the original screenshot you've posted. It says there's another update (the second I presume) but it's not downloading it. Weird.

Strange, I guess your tablet had a newer firmware to start off with then. When did you purchase yours? And was it in the UK you bought it? There have been 2 updates for me so far.
I'll reply in the other thread so as not to spam this one too much
From Asus developer
I'm sorry for this problem. Can you try to click Settings -> About -> Check System Update? If you are still not able to update successfully, we will provide you an SD update file later.

[Q] 2.3.4 on GRI54

The OTA update for GRI54 was downloaded by my phone, however because I use Clockwork Recovery the update Google update procedure did not work.
Anyone know where I can manually download to GRI54 update to 2.3.4 (GRI40 isn't working it seems)?
Look in your logcat for download Link and post it here plz.
Sent from my Nexus S using XDA App
Oh yes.. please do post the link
Agreed... haven't seen a GRI54 link yet. Need to get that to MoDaCo Paul ASAP (although he's probably busy watching the wedding)
Unfortunately logcat only seems to show messages since last reboot. And I already rebooted in order to try to get the update installed Also I can't get the phone to attempt to download it again.
May be someone else could check before rebooting their phone?
Could you upload the update itself somewhere?
Do you know where on the file system I can find the update?
i would search on root of your sd card (/sdcard mount point) or in download dir on sdcard?
Or you can just search for .zip files on your sd card with weird file names
Oh.. nexus s does not have sdcard (just USB storage) but the mount point is the same /sdcard
Found it
Unfortunately I can't post URLs yet. So take the GRI40 update URL and replace the filename with:
486786a7fd97.signed-soju-GRJ22-from-GRI54.486786a7.zip
Note: I have not tested this update myself yet. Use at your own risk!
As I see only 2.3.3-to-2.3.4 link is known now, look on AndroidCentral:
GRJ22-from-GRI40: http://android.clients.google.com/p...749.signed-soju-GRJ22-from-GRI40.a14a2dd0.zip
Should wait a bit for logcats from other versions.
SanjuroE, where did you find it, aren't there GRJ22-from-GRH78C ?
Downloading... will update you all as soon as I apply this.
Grab it from here
I found it in my /cache directory. My phone was at GRI54 when I bought it, so I don't have any other updates.

First, you posted in the wrong section! This section is for development projects.
Also, have you installed a different version of CM12s? The zip is not flashing because it sees a modification to the firmware you're running, or it's a bad download .

Here try this, flash cyangen's recovery and try updating again. I don't know if that will do anything but it's worth a try!
It was told a zillion times. Either cyanogen recovery or download the full rom update instead of the delta OTA (full can be flashed via TWRP).
Look around the oneplus forums, I had the same problem. I managed to find the file and flash it with twrp without having to do the whole rom. The battery got better along with touch screen fixes

Done, thanks guys!

[MOD] Enable Native Tethering

Update: the patch for the latest OTA can be found here: http://forum.xda-developers.com/droid-turbo/general/enable-su4tl-49-stock-tethering-to-t3380911
Even though it's been reported that the old version works with the SU4TL-49 OTA, I recommend flashing the updated patch with the OTA, since the patch flashes a modified build.prop file, and the new patch will include any changes made to the build.prop by the OTA update.
This is exactly what the thread title says. The zip replaces the stock build.prop file with one modified to enable native tethering. This is not guaranteed to work with any other build than SU4TL-44. I have personally tested this on my own phone. If you use this on any other build, you do so at your own peril.
Flash in TWRP.
And a quick apology, I had thought I was in the General section when I started the new thread. If any moderators want to move this to the General section, by all means, please do.

Flashed this to my Turbo yesterday; works like a charm. Thanks!
Guys, I'm sure this is dumbest question ever asked on XDA, but would somebody give me a hand on how to flash this via TWRP? I put the extracted files on my phone but couldn't find them to install from within TWRP, probably because they're not an .apk - do I need to somehow make these part of a ROM and flash the whole thing?
Just did sunshine/update/TWRP/root and everything is working great, if that makes any difference.
Thanks a lot!

With TWRP you do not flash the extracted files. You flash the zip. It has to be a "flashable" zip, but this one is.
Over in the bootloader unlock warning image thread, some people were trying to flash a zipped file that was not meant to be flashed. The image was meant to be unzipped/extracted and then flashed with ADB.
But in this case this is a TWRP flashable zip.
Worked perfectly! Thank you both so much - this is a lifesaver!!

It works with the latest OTA? That's good to know. I hadn't tried, since the patch basically overwrites the stock build.prop, and there's always going to be a few changes in the file whenever a new update is installed.
I did put together a patch for the latest OTA, which I would recommend flashing if you used the SU4TL-44 version, as the build.prop file reports the software version to the OS.
The thread for that patch is here:

And if you're running TWRP 3.1 just flash the zips from there. First the update.zip, then the hw_eu one, and then flash supersu for root. https://forum.xda-developers.com/p9/development/root-supersu-2-81-emui-5-t3612258
That's how i upgraded from B380 and it works perfectly.

This method don't require twrp or root, this is the same process of the original ota upgrade application, but in manual mode.
Disregard this comment, posted to wrong thread.
hi
Can someone explain me, why is there this kind of update published, non flashable one? internal testing purpose?
Is there a way to update my phone to b389, b388 or other, more than b381, with or without root, even if I have to factory reset my phone, reinstall stock recovery?
You just have to try reading. This topic here and more ...
Hi guys, i've update correctly with twrp to B381 (forgot to flash supersu so...no root. Lol) but i have a problem. On B360 in "Smart assistence" I had the function "Smart Key" to choose ehat to do when the fingerprint key was pressed. Now, after this update i have no more this function. It doesn't show up, even if i try to search it. It has been disabled or should i try to factory reset?
