what's up with the gmail app always crashing on me after the last ASUS update? Whenever I open it there is a long pause and then closes down. It's useable! I updated the gmail app from the google play store but its still happening. Is anyone else experiencing this? I had the same issue on my prime and that's one of the reasons why I dumped it. This is absolutely unacceptable. An update shouldn't fix one thing and break another!

There is an update avaiable in Play Store for Gmail. see if this helps.

I have provlem with Gmail, too. Not everytime i open it, but it happens. After the ASUS update of course.
Before the update everything fast OK.
But the fun part is that after the update, the first few times i opened Gmail, it was actually must faster than before, and i was pretty surprised by that. After a day or two, went back to normal slow operation and sometimes it just goes black/blank, crashes basically.
Also, on Market i can't see any updates, yet (hope so).

OK, so I got the Transformer yesterday...already running into problems but some are not too major and some was resolved. I'm not putting the screen on lock again until this bug is fixed.
Now, the problem is I must not have the latest firmware and I know the latest one was pulled. So I don't have the "myCloud" app.
What about the unlimited webstorage for one year? Where's that? I look online it says you can signed up for free one for 2gb...that's not what I was told. Anyone use that?

Uh what bug are you talking about? Also yes myCloud is in the latest OTA which also includes webstorage. Asus will send it out again once it stops bricking devices I assume. Also you only get the unlimited if you sign up through the app on the transformer.

There seem to be some bug with the screen lock turned on. When your device goes to sleep, it might not turn back on (blank screen). Happened to me this morning and freaked me out because I couldn't do anything. Luckily I came to read on here with users having similar problems. Hold the button for more than 10 seconds to shut down completely. Then wait a bit and power it back on.

I am also able to just wake it up by trying a few times. Although since the first day it hasn't happened to me anymore.

I see, so it's through myCloud then.
But...there is a seperate app called Asus webStorage, I downloaded from the market. This app is also available for iphone. I also have the desktop asus webstorage program. Of course this is not the unlimited one then...since I don't have any set up information. I can only sign up for free 2gb or pay service.

I meant you only get unlimited if you sign up through the myCloud app on the transformer which has webstorage built into it (so you don't need the seperate webstorage app).
Before anyone gets angry....
I tried searching "cancel update", "cancel postpone update", and a couple other combinations - still can't find the thread I'm looking for.
I remember reading that there is a way to cancel updates that have already been pushed to the device. After reading the reviews of 3.2 - I think I'll hold off for now... but the only option I have is to postpone (2 more times).
Can anyone shed light on how to permanently stop the update?

It won't automatically update and install! you will get a notification (in your notification bar ) that an update is available, it will ask you if you want to install the update, just click no.
After reading all the posts on here i'm definately not installing it.

Who told you this nonsense ? I am on 3.2 right now and wifi works exactly like on PRIME 1.6 (3.1 based)
Only issue I've had after 3.2 is Dice Player not loading, but think that's fixed now haven't found the new ver yet, so dunno what peeps are complaining about.
3.2 works great. It's definitely better than 3.1. I dont see a reason not to update unless your tab is rooted.
Does it fix everything people here wanted? Definitely no.
When you get your hope too high, you are going to be disappointed.
A lot of people here act like spoiled whinning kids .
They have no clue about how much work required to debug, program and test it.
They just want everything to be fixed in days. This happens to 3rd party developers as well and that's why they dont feel like their work being appreciated.
Seriously, enjoy what you have.

im sticking with custom roms because i do NOT like the way 3.2 denies you the ability to right to SD cards, or any removable media. At least give us an option, assholes.

A lot of people here also preach about things, ignorantly making the assumption they know what others want.
Enjoying what I have is exactly what I want to do. I use remote connect to my PC all the time - and the new "circle" mouse pointer is a deal breaker for me. I'd simply like to stick with the pointer I have now.
As for the option to say "no" to the update... when is that given? My wife tells me "hey your computer told me to update" (awesome)... so now all I have is the "update" or "postpone" prompt. Will I still get the option?

You can allways try to freeze the DMClient app. Stopped me from getting the update.

I dont have these issues. My wifi N signal is stronger and browser is faster.
Keyboard lag is still there though.

I have not noticed any new issues with 3.2. My wifi & gps still work. In fact one problem seems to have gone away for the time being. That was having to push the power button multiple for my transformer to wake up.
Th default browser still suck with the lag & crashes.

I'm having at least:
- wi-fi problems (connection drops every couple of minutes, major speed decrease)
- browser window refreshing/redrawing much slower
Btw, for the wi-fi a possible temporary solutions is to set the connection to static as opposed to DHCP (the connection drops seem to be connected to DHCP). Also, take a look at http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=16169854&postcount=32

I don't know if there are other meanings of "write to SD" but I ugraded to 3.2 about 20 mins ago and I just created a ".doc" file with Polaris Office and saved directly to my external SD. I also created and deleted a folder from the stock file manager...

Hi All,
Apex launcher seems to be going crazy for me since the last update. Mostly, all the icons disappear and it gets stuck(can only get going by force stopping), or just crashes out all together. The only way I can get Apex to work for extended periods is to restore an old titanium backup from a few updates ago.
HAve tried going through my apps freezing etc to find a conflict, but the prob remains.
Anyone else have this problem? Or better yet, anyone else found a solution other that using an old version?
Edit: even previous versions are stalling now, particularly after the tablet has woken up from deep sleep.

I've found that since the most recent update it won't launch for me at all. Crashes instantly.
I am running CM10 though on the i9300 so might be that.
Downloading beta version from official url fixed my issue for now on my HTC One X:

Thanks for the link mate. Seems to be every launcher (even stock) is buggy now since .30 update. The icons all disappear and get stuck with a blank screen. Factory wipe, format SD and all. I'm normally not one to winge, but this tablet is really starting to give me the sh!ts.
Did you maybe go and read comments on Play Store. I don't think so.
EVERY user has problems. This is not Infinity, .30 update, or anything related problem.
It is just a bad update of the Apex itself, so just hang tight and wait for a fix.

Mate, as I said ... in the post above yours ... this phenomenon (all icons disappearing) is occurring across all launchers for me now. Even stock, and after a factory wipe. I have invested a few hours troubleshooting and researching this frustrating bug.
It will be very welcome if the next update fixes the stalling on Apex, but I'd be extremely surprised if it fixed faults in other apps.

No worries Yup, tried cold boot, factory wipe, reinstalling both stock .30 and then Zeus 4 after it showed up on stock. However, when I reinstall, my apps(170) get pushed from play. So it may be an app I didn't freeze when I was troubleshooting. The only thing I can think of to do now is reinstall, and add apps one at a time. Could take a while, because I think sometimes the bug only comes out after tab has gone into deep sleep. Sigh. I do really like this tab most of the time, but I couldn't recommend it to someone who didn't like playing with tech.

Well, that's the main difference between Apple iOS and Android. For Android you need brains, for iOS not really
Joke aside, i had major problems with waking my tab from sleep (1 in 10 times i locked it i had to hard boot it to "wake up"), but after the update it has never happened again. I have also not faced any of the problems people are reporting. Weird.
This is something I will never understand about HW/SW ... how can thing works for some and not for others.
Well, yeah, there are user modifications and stuff like that, but still...
I think step by step approach to installing apps is a way to go, because if all the launchers are behaving strangely, than for sure there is something SW related and it seems like one of the apps is playing a dirty game there.

Question: will beta release overwrite the stable one? What does that mean for further stable releases? Will I have to uninstall beta version and install stable one. I generally don't want to be on beta release, but it is a workaround.

Yep, it overwrites the stable one. But it gives you the option, and notification to update to the latest model. Only downside is if you have OCD (like most of us who tweak) ignoring the notification to update might bother you after a while

Had this problem on my Razr this morning when I woke up. Uninstalled on both infinity and Razr and installed Nova. No problems so far.
FYI - They've already released a new version that fixes the force closes... Problem is (at least for me), the app drawer is now *way* slower (to open initially and once it is open)...
I've reverted back to the last stable version for now - it performs much better (at least in the app drawer).

Well, after alot of mucking around it was Aldiko Reader that was causing stalls on the launchers...No idea how. Change to Moon reader has sorted it out. Still on beta Apex though. Troubleshooting can be a bit painful with the errors being so random.

Some things I have noticed: pretty zippy in terms of swiping now. The lag that we get when swiping from apps to widget screen had been reduced. Stock browser is exactly the same, still lags here and there. What have you guys noticed about the new update!?

Yup, got it here US EST. I was hopping for JB 4.2. Ugh! My TF700 had been sluggish after the previous update. For me this update has improved the performance.

It appears that this build has improved over all system performance, boot, video, wifi, blutetooth, browsing, app loading and touch response. This based on my experince from the previous build.\
I could not find any additional features at the time of this post but will update when I find any.

When I got the update I thought it was the 4.2 update, but was a little disappointed when it wasn't haha. Im noticing my browser hasn't been force closing like it used to but have yet to find any official release notes. According to the Asus France facebook page, someone posted asking about this update and they said it was for bug fixes and to prepare for bringing up to 4.2
Update didn't work for me on my rooted but still locked Infinity. Everytime I boot or cold boot, it goes through the process of updating/optimizing all the apps. Once the desktop shows I get dialogs for all the background apps closing. Any app I try to start closes immediately. Haven't tried a factory reset yet though I'm not sure that will work. And if it does, I'll probably be left unrooted.
Update: Factory reset fails as I can't even get through the setup wizard as all the background processes are closing and the wizard eventually hangs. Guess I'll have to go back to the beginning with 4.0.3, root and go from there, AGAIN.

Nice, it would be sick if we got that 4.2 update sometime this week! :laugh: :cyclops: I really wanna show this tablet off to some of my friends with ipads, but I'm not trying to embarrass myself because of all these little bugs and browser force closing haha
I do not understand how Asus gets away with releasing updates with no release notes. Frustrating.
Were there any firmware updates to radios, keyboard, or other stuff like that? That's the only reason I install stock images.

Google Now on my S3 is pretty damn good and understands me fairly well.
The voice recognition on this tablet with Google Now is just horrible for me. Doesn't come close to figuring out what I'm saying. I don't even bother with it anymore.
You guys don't think that the best way to achieve better accuracy when using Google Now voice is through a Bluetooth headset? I'm wondering if someone has attempted to see if it has ever made a difference.
