Noob question. What is kexec? How can I know if I already have it? I

kexec comes with the bootloader, as far as I know clockwork mod 6.0.1.0 or newer have kexec. I have this version and definitely have kexec

OK so that means that I already have kexec because I'm using cwm 6.0.8.0
Thanks

Incorrect...kexec is packaged with the kernel. Its a process that hijacks the boot process so we can have a custom recovery and kernel even tho the bootloader is locked. Cwm 6.0.1 is recomended for flashing a kexec kernel.
Thanks for the correction. Everywhere I'd read said this cwm version for kexec which is why I responded with it

Seeing how our bootloader is unlocked now, are there any new non kexec kernels out yet? I'm tired of the stock kernel.

CM10 has one i believe, but give it time. We've been unlocked for 24 hours, it'll happen soon enough.
Imoseyon has an AOSP one, and is almost done with this Beta 0.2 (non kexec) TW kernel
Yeah that's what I'm thinking at this point. I'll just stick with my stock kernel till a non kexec one comes out. I'm looking forward to imo's new kernel

Once and for all, it's so freaking confusing since the bootloader has been unlocked, which recovery do I flash if I use a non kexic Rom, and if I don't want the triple boot?
Thanks in advance.

ive been looking around for information about updating the bootloader in my S3....its unlocked but it doesn't seem to want to flash the latest roms and from what ive been reading it seems the bootloader is the issue
any help would be appreciated
Um you can't update the bootloader on the S3. Maybe you meant recovery? Certain recoveries in the past had issues flashing stuff. Go grab GooManager and update TWRP using that app. Maybe that will fix your issue.

You can update the bootloader, can you link the thread that suggests that? Usually it isn't needed to run custom roms.

I had an HTC phone and I could flash radios. Can the same be done with the S3?
Note that the bootloader is unlocked.
And if so, does anyone know where I can get the latest radio from the I535VRUCML1 update?

Now I'm confused.
It says to not flash anything but then gives links to them and recommends to flash one. :what:

Definitely doesn't say that.
It says do not flash an ml1 firmware package. He says specifically to flash the latest mf1 firmware package, then flash the ml1 radio only. It's a little confusing, so make sure you understand it before you flash anything.

So right now I'm rooted with BMB1.
Basically flash the MF1 radio and then flash the ML1 radio, rather than just jumping from BMB1 straight into ML1?
Sorry man, I'm just still confused on what it's saying.

This is my comprehension...
I'm on MB1 still.
So I must go here and flash MF1 for D2VZW:
http://invisiblek.org/d2firmware.html
Then go here: http://invisiblek.org/sch-i535/modems/d2vzw_ML1_modem.zip
and the ML1 radio should start downloading... then flash it?
Both of these are good to flash in recovery without any wipes.
Is this correct? Lol.

As long as the rom is kit kat based then you are fine.
Hey guys. My gs3 is running jellybean 4.3 and its rooted with saferoot. Everything is fine but I want a little more performance. Is there a way I can flash a custom kernel and make it faster or do I have to flash a ROM and then flash the kernel with safestrap? Any help will be great

You need to flash the kernel modules, you don't mess with the kernel at all. It'll brick the phone.
