Very nice - looks like a nice bit of kit, but some specs would be useful.
Also might be worth blurring out the identifying information - such as the IMEI sticker - before your friend's friend loses his job.
Pic has been edited.....
That's all I was able to get. he's not much of a phone guy. I had to tell him how to get the about phone info. I'll see if he still has it. Anything in particular you want to know?
Sent from my Dark Unicorn Resurrected v.2.5 using xda premium
If he's still got it then I guess run standard benchmark tests and try to get an output of the specs for processor, GPU, memory, screen res - and whether it's got external storage, removable battery etc.
Basically all the stuff that you'd want to know if you were looking at buying one
It would be great to know to specs.
Glad they're embracing the soft keys. Still leery because of the locked bootloader that will surely accompany this, but at least Moto is back to making the Droid a respectable line-up.
The screen looks to be a nice size.

well the phone wasn't my friends. Its his coworkers who got it from the engineer. Says you can't take out the battery, HD (duh), fast, and 8MP camera. As for the storage, im not quite sure what he tried explaining but said something about the sim card slot looks like it can hold both sim and sd card.
The guy isn't at work so he's gonna try to check it out tomorrow.

does it say "T-Mobile" on the third pic, .. upper-left corner? ... is this not only for Verizon?

pretty much yeah, .. as i was referring to the third pic, when people see my post they can just look at my post to see the pic instead of going all the way to the first post, ... yeah i could have only quoted the third pic, .. but meh.
back to topic, .. does the cover seem pre-production ? with the holes and everything? personally i think the previous leaked image back cover looked much cooler
or maybe the Verizon will have a different back cover? .. hmm
don't know much about Motorola but I googled the model number and Droid HD were the results I got.

From what he tried explaining, he thinks dual but didn't pay attention. A for ram, he's gonna check out the specks when he gets ahold of it again
Edit: just spoke to him a bit better (lunch breaks). Says it's a dual port. Also said it "has 2 USB Ports but one looks a bit different" I'm thinking mini hdmi?
He owns a 4s and said it doesn't come close to it. He's already planning on switching carriers when that phone is released. Dont know when though
Sent from my Dark Unicorn Resurrected v.2.5 using xda premium
i dont like its back cover
now its google, i would have expected to be really good
i think this is a vodafone/verzion deal.
the droid razer HD for Verizon.
and then the Motorola Razer HD for Vodafone.
(since vodafone owns 45% of verizon wireless)
he was able to put a t-mobile sim in cause it still a developers version. (i guess)
Can you tell me how thin is it? Also a full front pic would be nice to see the bezel. I'm almost guaranteed that is not the kevlar pattern for the Verizon version
A lot of Moto phones for verizon have GSM radios don't forget
Any chance you could get us the battery capacity?

Ive seen today that the atrix has root, I also seen that the post was made by alot of you cappy owners hero designgears. Just wondering how many are leaving? I will be sticking by htc's side. I hated my captivate for the couple weeks I had it when it was launched, such a cheap device, and was to easy for some processes and involved no work. The Inspire is where its at in my mind for now, dual core or not this ***** flys and does work for me.
Nope HTC > than Motorola as far as dev community is concerned. I'm happy with my purchase and could have pre-ordered the Atrix for the same money I was looking at for this phone.
Sticking with HTC. I believe the grass is greener here. ;-)

Root is actually pretty easy on this phone. I must admit that I have rooted alot of phones and this one did give me some grief mostly with the gold card cause it works diff for everyone but with the help of irc channel it was a walk in the park. Plus you get to freshen up on adb skills

It has root, but they still don't know if the boot loader is locked. If it is, there will be no way to install custom roms. as far as I know nobody has cracked their bootloader encryption.
As far as fastboot not working, did you hit the power button to switch to h boot to loss the image? On the SD card I had to use the instructions to get my image then I used the utility to write the image and had no problems. @gunny ya I am curious on that as well. Bootloader controls their destiny. I still feel like I have the upper hand with HTC. To much development. Soon we will have sense, aosp, and miui. Doesn't get much better

I just got my inspire today, but I may actually need a FFC, (I know right, who "needs" one, but as it turns out my work is thinking about requiring us to have them on our work phones).
I may pick one up as a toy. Not with the stupid laptop dock though.

Yes... it's because we're gadget geeks and have the attention span of a 2 year old! I got the Inspire because I couldn't wait until March 6th (the original Atrix release date) to dump my POS Craptivate.
My biggest complaint with the Inspire: No HDMI out... but I figured I'll be staring at a 4.3" screen much more often than hooking up a 4" screen phone to a TV. Also I hate where they placed the micro-usb port on the Atrix.
it just has stuff i dont need, hence finger print scanner, an outrageous priced dock. If I buy anything moto it will be the xoom
Ugh this is such a hard decision but I'm honestly so tired of my atrix. Development...yeah right. Basically dead. Really wants to make me switch phones. I got offered an inspire on Craigslist and I tested one out at the att store. Top 3 for me would be inspire, sgs2, and infuse but I haven't gotten any sgs2 or infuse offers sso I'm thinking about taking up this inspire offer. Any atrix converts over here? Heard the inspire is laggy and bbattery life isn't all that great but everything seemed pretty nice to me at the att store. Can I get any input of previous atrix owners? Is it worth the switch?
Sent from my CM7 ATRIX via XDA Premium App
i have both. i currently have my inspire up for sale in the marketplace, not because its not an outstanding device, but i have had my run, i still have my atrix as a backup, and i got a new GS2 as my daily.
if i had to chose between the atrix and inspire as daily drivers, i would go inspire
the deciding factor in me keeping my atrix over my inspire is that i also have the laptop dock, and i am looking forward to seeing what can be done on it. maybe i should focus my efforts on creating something for the atrix now.....
I had an atrix. Took it back and got an Inspire. Never looked back haha. If you do decide to get an Inspire, buy pirateghost's

I'm running cm7 right now and i did a factory reset and moved all files from /mnt/emmc to my computer yet there seem to still be some files left behind...what do i do? is it safe to keep these? or is there a better way to make sure my personal info is nowhere to be found on the phone. Under file manager there are files such as .Spotlight-v100, .Trashes, .Adobe, .android_secure, LOST.DIR. why is this?

I like my Inspire but I don't have much to compare it to. The battery life is not teriffic, with wifi, bluetooth and the occasional GPS query I will go about 24 hours. YMMV.
Not sure where the laggy comes in. It works well for me.
This phone isn't laggy at all with a custom rom. Lagginess comes from poor development on HTCs end. It holds its own compared to the tegra2 imo ...

I was presented with the same decision and am glad I went with inspire. I think sense is pretty cool. Also the guy at att told me that the atrix only uses one of its cores for the mobile os, and the other core is for the docking function.
Is this really true? I know att reps are heavily misinformed sometimes.

Well to be honest, I just paid $600 for this phone, so if HTC can't design a [email protected] sticker that contains the serial # to stay on the phone for more than a couple of days of very light use, then they aren't worth my time anymore and I'll just move on to another phone once it's released

I really don't think HTC designed that sticker to stay on there, considering every ad for the One X shows the phone sans sticker. Just peel it off, it looks better without it anyway. And you are sure you didn't have to go through a process asking if you wanted to void your warranty? It seems strange to ship with a voided phone

Nothing worked on the phone besides the launcher. The slide up notifications per icon was badass. But it had no network service or WiFi. Not even a play store. Had a bunch of apps but they were dummy icons. He said it was for development purposes and show. It was extremely smooth though. I asked about the boot loader and he said yes to being unlocked. He was quick to answer and said that it is the first Motorola device to ever ship with an unlockable boot loader. He said it would be kinda similar to the gnexs. There will be an easy to access option out of the box to unlock the boot loader.

He also gave me a statistics speech about why they have ignored bootloader unlock claims in the past but I don't remember. I was playing with the phone lol. But I'll ask again when he comes around next month. Had something to do with percentage and how we the people asking for the unlocked boot loader are only a 1%

If you can get information on the bootloader unlock process that'd be awesome. The Atrix HD has an option but doesn't say a code. If the Photon Q shows the code for you when you run 'fastboot oem unlock' then I think it would mean hard work to get the Atrix HD unlocked.
Price??
Is there any mention of the price for photon Q?

Thanks for sharing this - still surprised that the phone is marketed with business users, as subjectively put... in mind - being that the battery is fixed, what options have you heard for individuals needing more power for voice calls on the go?
I loved the previous one which I still use - mainly for it's swappable batteries for continuous voice calls - not everyone has the chance to be by a power source to charge (e.g. wall / car). There are external power packs as I mentioned in another post; (either by solar or pre-charged that plug into the microusb).

They can market it as a business phone but I love the new features and I know most other consumers would. Of course smartactions and the new swipe feature for notifications on icons. He said the RAZR already has smart actions. Why hasn't anyone ported that feature yet?!

oh damn! i didnt even think of looking. he was in the store for about half an hour talking to us about it. i spent most my time testing out the keyboard and messing around with the new UI. which btw on the 19th, 20th at the latest i hope to see this new launcher ported to other devices! trust me, everyone will love it! they took features from jellybean and pimped them up for ics on the q
our store should get them by this friday. if so then ill get the model number for you then. and whatever else you need. and sense the bootloader is unlocked it should be fairly easy for me to extract an image from it to post here before the 19th
actually.. we would probably get the demo phone before the actual phones.. which should be in the next few days. demo phones are no different than the real thing. they come to us with a demo video app preinstalled. we have factory reset our demo phones before and used them as a store phone. could someone point me in the right direction of getting an image from this phone? **safely**. dont want to **** the phone up and get fired lol
ive never tried with dump_image but i would imagine that might work. ideally we could root it and grab the images that we need then unroot it easily enough. once it launches and the tool comes out i could put out the CWM and have people unlock to root
