[Q]Urgent - Samsung Infuse 4G

So a dude wants to trade his Motorola Razr for my Infuse. Should I take it?
He wants to trade today (it's 11:56 PM ET at the moment and he wants to trade at like 5PM ET)
Any bootloader issues or anything?

I don't know much about that device, but I believe the issue with it is that almost everything is signed, which would limit you in terms of flashing, for example, no jelly bean for the moment until a source that is needed is released.

Don't do it!!! Take itbfrom someone who has sold his infusebfor another device (HTC vivid) you will regret it!!!!

Instant nostalgia!
challenge: use your razr v3 for a period of time. No alternate phones. lets see who lasts the longest.

hehehe.. I don't think the battery in mine will hold a charge for a full day as old as it is lol. I am going to have some fun tho'... next time I go to the grocery store just before I get to the line I am going to put the phone to my ear as if on a call, get in the longest line and talk (so that I can be heard) about this cool new phone I have... I'm gonna really play it up just to see the reaction :silly:

I have a Droid Razr and my girlfriend has the Infuse. I personally like the Razr better, but it has a lot less roms available. Its just so sleek and thin, and the battery life is a bit better than the infuse. But to each his own :good:

Yeah...I think all the advice was from flashaholics...we don't like phones with little roms , doesn't matter how nice it is (my vivid) if it doesnt have a lot of roms then I don't like it!

Guys, I am sorry... but I think I am going to deal tomorrow. I just like the dual core better. I mean... I LOVE the infuse, it's just that I want to get the RAZR just so I can trade it with an S2 or higher.

Well..if you can trade the razr with an s2 then go for it...s2 has a lot of development...so I guess I approve, just make sure to get a good Samsung from the razr...Samsung's are the best when it come to development IMO

I'm kind of skeptical to be quite honest because I cannot find anyone at the moment to trade the razr for an s2... fml although razr is good if going stock not gonna lie. Good hardware and stuff just bad software

Yea it's on android central too. Kind of makes sense since we got the infuse which is almost like the gs2 sans dual core etc. Glad I got this phone as well. It is the best phone I've had so far. I absolutely hate physical keyboards on phones now. No reason to add that crap. People need to move on lol. Now att will have two good phones for people to choose at least I guess. Good thing I didn't hold my breath I thought it would be just like the original but it appears I'm wrong lol.

Damn, now I'm regretting not waiting for the Attain.
The Infuse is the first device with a softkeyboard I could consider tolerable... But that's it - tolerable. It still can't come close to my Tilt2.
This makes me giddy like a small child in a candy store. You can keep the keyboard and dual core, I'm fine with my 4.5 inch screen and super thin design. I don't know how many times people have picked up my phone and been wowed by this form factor.
Plus, who needs dual core anyways? There isn't any lag on my infuse to begin with, and now that gb is about to drop, I'm sure whatever the devs come up with will keep me more than satisfied with how well my phone performs.
Sent from my SAMSUNG-SGH-I997 using XDA Premium App
WOW!......How can Samsung ATT justify this? SGSII is a widely anticipated phone all over the world. It is very popular over seas. So based on that they change it last minute???? Not the specs but to a slider? This makes ZERO sense. Unless Samsung was forced to change it through lawsuits by apple, or ATT being Apple's b**ch. Why would you change a device that everyone was expecting and anticipating. Unless Samsung has another device ready to launch soon, I do not get it. It would be one thing if it was always going to be a slider, but you just added thickness to a device that nowdays the thinner the more popular. When I first got a soft keyboard device I hated it, but now I am much faster than I ever was on a hard keyboard. You are also adding the breakable parts factor. I just don't understand this at all.
Makes perfect sense... The only keyboard smartphone they have is the LG Quantum... Also differentiates it from the Infuse.
I must say that the keyboard has me more interested.

i was kinda thinking the addition of an extra core, more memory and official Gingerbread would be enough differentiation?
i've never been a fan of flip/slide phones.. with my experience, the more moving parts it has, the more susceptible it is to wear and ultimately breaking.

well, dont expect it to be like your tilt2. expect it to be like the samsung epic on sprint, like a captivate with a slide out keyboard, pretty pathetic for a hardware keyboard.
If you guys don't want the keyboard, just get an unlocked GSII from newegg. It works on AT&T. We have options.

Im sorry but I am so down to get this phone. i am actually gonna get this phone.
It all depends on how thick it is. If it is nice and slim, I will give it a shot. I could see using a keyboard some times.
Also I would check T-mobile's version. Aren't T-mobile's newest phones shipping with the ability to work on AT&T's network because of the buyout? I thought I heard that a few times....

farewell to infuse and hello to Galaxy S II on tmobile

Man I have been using the Infuse and donating to the cause for a long time now. The roms put together by DMAN bigfau and others have done an awesome job keeping the infuse at the top of its game. I have had the AT&T infuse phone with T-Mobile service and have dealt with not having Edge internet service long enough all the time. Got a sweet deal through target and couldn't pass up the offer. Got a T-mobile 4g Samsung Galaxy S II and am loving the speeds etc. I am going to keep my infuse as a souvenir. Thanks again guys for the long run.

LG OG.
Several of us that were using the Infuse are there.
I personally have gone with the Nexus 4 (Optimus G's brother) not only because i love the look of it but also because of all the developing that's going on with it currently. I can't speak about the OG development but what I've been in terms of development for the N4 is incredible.

Mostly the design. I've had my fun with a brick looking phone (Infuse). You don't really appreciate the curves until you hold it in your hand and get a feel for it. The glass also is curved at the edges like the HTC One and makes swiping feel very nice. The etched back glass looks incredible in the right lighting too. Overall the phone is just simply sexy. The price is absolutely unbeatable and being the first to get updates is really nice too although I'll be going the custom route which this phone as at least 10 different ROMs already.

N4 has 3, 4 & 5 and with a different kernel you can increase the battery life pretty well though it will never be easily removable.

I would support the choice of the Nexus 4. Most bang-for-the-buck Android device since ever imo.
If money isn't that much of an issue, I would definitely look to the HTC One for beauty or maybe the SIV since there will almost definitely be a huge following for that phone..

I wouldn't suggest it....HTC is terrible with development. They have crap source...and even had a DMCA takedown on the HTC msn8660 official cyanogenmod source. Not to mention you not only have to unlock the bootloader but also s-off the device if you wanna be able to flash roms away from a computer. HTC one x had a big problem with achieving s-off for a couple months too....
HTC one looks good as do most htcs, but if you want dome aosp deving its def not the device to go for IMHO
Btw, long time no talk guys I'm still trying to decide on my next device as I'm due for an upgrade as well...

I'm personally leaning towards the SIV... about the same size as the Infuse, except a 5 inch screen+quad core+2gb ram....

I love my infuse but upgrade time came about two weeks ago and I went for the note2 and its awesome!!!! once you start using it you really appreciate the size of the screen it just makes doing everyday things on the phone easier and more enjoyable. I was also on the fence about waiting for the s4 but I went for the bigger screen and battery

I'm up for upgrade too and was looking at the HTC phones. I like the solid metal feel, but I guess I should reconsider. What would you recommend especially regarding development friendliness? (Samsung? LG? I know the Nexus is great for that) I'm not opposed to waiting for a while. I am extremely content with the active and awesome development work on here.
Is the large size of the Note 2 inconvenient at all? My beloved Infuse already takes up most of my pocket
I'll likely get a nexus4 or an iPhone. I'm tired of waiting for 3rd parties to support devices when the motivation is to make you buy a new one.
My wife has an atrix 4g, and still on stock 2.3. It's buggy to say the least.
I have a nexus 7, and didn't even feel the need to root it until recently. Stock actually works, and doesn't leave you wanting much more.
Sure, our infuses still work. We can flash firmware beyond 2.3, but the lack of official support means that some things are broken and will never be fixed... HDMI, 720p, etc.

Besides a nexus...Samsung seems to be the best, although I've read good things about Sony as well...

Been debating getting the N2 for a while.. Just not sure if I want to get it 5 months into its life. But honestly, compared to the GS4, the only thing really better to me at least is the 1080p display which is more of just a number selling point almost. Been out of contract for like 3 months now and getting ready to pull the trigger...
Blackberry Z10 or Q10.
I was playing with the BB Z10 the other day and it looks like they have a winner on their hands.
