MIUI 2.7.27 Kernel installation problem [SOLVED - flashing new kernel works] - HTC Sensation

Hey. Im trying to install any Sense based kernel but everytime I'm getting an error.
My Sensation is S-OFF and I'm on newest firmware 3.33.401.106. 4EXT is 1.0.0.5 RC5
It seems that is a problem since MIUI 2.7.13 and there is the same error on 2.7.20.
OK, is there any solution for this ?

Did you try a fresh download? First download could have gotten corrupted? This happened to me once when flashing a Rom , installation was aborted. I did another download of the file, flashed the new download and it worked perfectly then. You can give it a try and see. If that helps at all. It worked for me when my installation was aborted. For me, something corrupted my first download. Perhaps this also happened to you? It wouldn't hurt to try. If you continue to get the error after the fresh download then It's a different issue . Best of luck to you and I hope you get your issue resolved Best wishes.

You will get error status 7 with every kernel out there for the sensation if you're running MIUI 2.6.13 or above, after trying them all I have yet to find one that works.

I've tried many kernels I have with the same result. There is for sure no download/CRC error. It's an action that MIUI took to "secure" boot.img but I don't know why. This needs deeper investigation what exactly is changed and causing the problem.
There is the same on MIUI 2.8.3 and probably will be the same with new version. I wrote to MIUI about this and I mention this problem is discussed on forums worldwide but probably this will change nothing. So, it's on us to find the solution I think.

Guys.
There is a very simple way to get rid of this f*** secured boot.img in new MIUI.
I am right now on MIUI 2.8.10 and Bricked kernel 1.4 with lovely Sweep2Wake and Badass governor. Take a look at the screenshot.
[sorry, I can't post outside links, <10 posts ]
Code:
s12.postimage.org/jp3yctvd9/Screenshot_2012_08_10_20_10_07.png
How to do it?
1. Download boot.img from there ->
Code:
sendspace.com/file/y9olql
[sorry, I can't post outside links, <10 posts ]
2. Install 4EXT Recovery
3. Replace original boot.img in your MIUI Rom .zip package by the one you donwloaded.
4. Flash ROM file with replaced boot.img
5. Run your ROM/reboot - it will reboot again to flash update for boot partition.
6. GO back to 4EXT Recovery.
7. Flash your Sense kernel (I've used bricked 1.4)
8. Have fun
Hope this helps, it is really simple.

Thanks for your reply.
I just followed the above link and flashed the "insercure-kernel.zip" followed by Bricked-3.0-aosp kernel. I am still getting the same error during flashing. Just to let you know I have S ON, is that stopping me?

i don't know why it's telling you that but when i flashed the insecure.img and after sebastianFM 's kernel all went well
it is suppose to work(status 7)
i can't think something else
if you want wait for someone else to tell you what to do
Have you checked to make sure your download is not corrupt? MD5 sums?
Could be a corrupt download. Do another download then check the MD5 sums before trying to install.

Your kernel cmdline is messed up = you need to flash a boot.img manually or it wont work
Thanks everyone for your kind suggestion. I am finally able to flash CM10 ROM on my phone . It worked fine after installing 4EXT recovery and also enabled the smart flash option in 4EXT before flashing as same as some other member on this thread suggested the work around for the same.
Yes if you are S ON you will need to enable SMARTFLASH EVERY time you flash a rom, unless you have it enabled permanently.

CWM isn't supported officially for our device. I recommend using TWRP, or you might run into problems later on.
Sent from my HTC One S using Tapatalk 2
There are several possibilities:
- Did you use the latest version of TWRP? Reflash/flash it.
- Did you perform a full wipe before installing v1.2.1? Just do so.
- Redownload v.1.2.1 and install it again due to possible download errors.
I downgraded as well to 1.06 some weeks ago. Installation of v1.2.1 was successful on the first try. Never experienced problems since the downgrade.
Do these problems occur with other roms as well?
i've the latest TWRP recovery
and i performed a factory reset before flashing
i checked the md5 sum too
i 'll test later with the CWM recovery
now i'm on CM10

What am I doing wrong? Hboot 98.2, S-OFF (Revolutionary), SD card in FAT32. I flashed boot.img via fastboot before installing, did the wipe ... What's with all those "No such file or directory" strings"? Please help me out. Thanks.
P.S. the DS is currently in the "No OS" state (i am able to enter into bootloader/recovery).
Why did you flash the boot.img BEFORE flashing the ROM? Especially since you're S-OFF already and there was no need in doing so?

As a last resort. Tried normaly (direct) few times, and only after i did this. Is there anything i can do?
I say try again with 4EXT recovery. If the problem persists - then it may be a bad download

Custom ROM's fail to install set_metadata: some changes failed Installer Error (Statu

I am S-Off and have tried both TWRP and CWM and keep getting - set_metadata: some changes failed Installer Error (Status 7). I have also tried Venom ROM to and get the same error. Should I go stock and re root, it seems like the installer isnt getting access to the directories? Thanks

Yes weaksauce is uninstalled and I installed SuperSU in CWM and it is working correctly from what I can see.I can run apps that need SU access. I have also made sure I installed the VZW TWRP and CWM and no success on either. I just got this phone 2 days ago.

So I just answered my own question. I had been trying to install the ROM from the SD card and figured I would copy to the internal SD and give it a shot and that fixed the issues and the ROM installed no problem. Hope this helps anyone else out there having this problem. Thanks
