I would post this in the synergy thread, but it's moving at the speed of sound and would be hard to keep up.
Oh. And I don't want hijack the thread.
But what's everyone's up time with this rom? I've had my mind blown by it... I'm at 32% after 11h and 45min. I haven't had a phone last me this long since I last had a feature phone! I've had a blackberry storm 1, dinc1, dinc2, razr (non max) and the gs3 since last week. With the same usage, my razr would of been dead 8 hours ago.
I'm incredibly happy to say the least. Just curious to know what everyone else is getting. I'm on 1.3

I'm sure that someone is going to say something about this being in the dev section as it should be in general or qa but to answer your question this phone has great battery life on stock to begin with. With 1.3 I'm currently at 16%, 13 hours with fairly heavy use and screen on for about 3 hours while using waze (GPS heavy) and playing music. With moderate use, I'm easily in the 20 hour range.

I'm not so lucky. With stock I get maybe 8 hours with light use, and no better on any rooted Rom. If I actually use the phone, I get 4 to 6 hours max.
This is not the Q&A section. This is development. I advise you to check the stuck threads in development an/or read the xda rules.

on Synergy Rom 1.2, I'm at 73% after 10h 51m. Mostly light use today.
I updated to Synergy v1.3 this morning from 1.1....Which I was getting a SOLID TWO DAYS worth of battery life!
In 1.3, the issue with the wallpaper cropping and scrolling wallpapers showing black bars on either side of the image forced me to try the app Wallbase, which was suggested by another poster...
Wallbase provided a solution to have the wallpapers back to full size and scrollable, but for some reason, it was draining battery for me...Kept my phone in a constant AWAKE state...Going back to a stock wallpaper fixed the constant awake problem. But now I'm left with either a stock wallpaper image that properly scrolls, or a custom image with black bars on the sides when you switch between homescreens...

IIRC it's a "feature" that's enabled on the touchscreen controller itself, nothing we can enable or disable through easy software means...
At least the time has been slightly increased from the 20seconds of the Atrix 1. I count 30 seconds for the Atrix 2.
Looks like someone figured out how:

We have it disabled on the photon as well.
We also have the 1% battery fix that I'm working on for the Atrix 2. Btw I didn't notice anything about that in any of the threads but has it already been fixed?

This won't work for us. We don't have the touchscreen files in the same location as the old atrix. Not sure, but it may need to be fixed with kernel tweaks... Samsung phones have a similar problem called "ghost touch". See here for their solution: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1554540

After much discussion here, I decided to flash this on my Sonya V4 Atrix 2, even though I didn't need to. Well I tested it with some multi-touch tester apps and it did work for me. I didn't experience any rain drop effects or bugs after the 15-30 secs window. I think it should stay here since its a mod that work on my Atrix 2. YMMV.

Well, shoot, I guess I'll eat my words... Maybe I just don't understand enough about this phone yet, but that zip only installs a touchpad.cfg file in the /system/etc/touchpad/22 folder.. which we do not have (at least I don't... does SonyaV4 have that file?).. And, if you read through that thread, people have just replaced their own .cfg files through root explorer instead of flashing the zip. So, again.. I don't get it. (did you do the same test before flashing that zip? - just checking, does the A2 even have the raindrop protection? And, why is this even a feature, who uses their phones in the rain anyway??)

JRW put a set of them together here: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1449631&highlight=1+battery+mod
Also, yes, they are included in most all of the available roms, as well as some additional mods have been posted within the rom threads (i know i put some together for Victory rom, cause it wasn't showing 1% increments and that dev posted his rom and left the country or civilization...).
Note that they are only for deodexed roms at this point (due to the services.jar edits required)

Well I don't know what you guys did, but I tested that zip file as well, using Dotty and Mutitouch Vis Test before and after, and it did nothing for me. Still bugs out and doesn't register both fingers after 30 seconds or so until I tap a bunch of times, then it comes back to normal, then bugs out again in another 30 seconds. I double checked, and it definitely installed the new config file in /system/etc.. but no change. I'm deleting the new folders...
EDIT: Also, it definitely doesn't register 5 fingers, as the mod apparently is also supposed to do.. and read this from the mod developer (it's kinda what i said earlier):http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=22076100&postcount=49

I really wish people would understand to see how a rom preforms you need to use it for more than a couple hours. Hell even a couple of days. The first day will be spent with the user messing with it to figure out all the settings. Once you are back to normal and not looking for all the new features the battery will stabilize and start lasting longer.

You may have a valid point, but thelgow said nothing about battery life being the reason for going back to vahalla final. I try ROMs for only a couple hours at a time regularly. I switch back simply because I prefer the look and feel of what I was already using. Once I find one that looks and feels better to me, then I'll give it an extended run and see how it works in my situation.

I understand this. There have been so many posts from people that post this kind of thing that is not helpful, off-topic, and honestly is rude its getting frustrating. You can not get a real feel of how the roms perform in a couple hours. I guarantee you that. There might be a setting that you over looked in your initial scan of the features. Even tho people claim you dont have to give the rom break in time. You do have to give YOURSELF break in time on the rom. Battery life, setting for themes, tweaks like notification toggles, and other things are all dependent on the person using the phone. If you flash a rom install your most used apps and never look into cutomizing the phone phone you will probably get longer battery. But if you are looking for a theme for the theme engine and a launcher theme you will have less battery. Plus if you are swapping themes several times at some point you need to reboot the phone for certain things to change properly.
TL;DR? A couple hours tinkering with a rom is not long enough to make a decision. Plain and simple.

Number 1 for me is stability. I am looking for a Rom that fully works or for the most part everything is working. Full camera functionality/flash, Sending and receiving SMS & MMS, GPS (I use navigation often), making and receiving calls, all the basic stuff that work on stock. Stability is my main objective. Second would be battery life & fluidity. Everything else like customization options is a nice bonus
I expected the Jelly Bean OTA to be better than it was. I did a factory reset when I got the update to make sure my phone started fresh. Even formatted internal and external SD card. I just expected a better experience. They took away some things I loved and added some things I don't like. But the main thing that bothers me is the occasional stutter/lag. And I notice battery life is worst on the JB OTA. I thought JB was suppose to be refined, it's not totally buttery smooth like they promote it to be. At least not on the stock Verizon variant of the GS3.
I am looking at "The Executioner" or the CleanRom/CleanRom Lite Edition. Any opinions or thoughts by people who have ran both would be appreciated!! I realize roms, as most things in life are a personal preference but I'd still like to get some opinions.

Who cares that the mods hate it... Isnt this what the forum is for? To talk about the galaxy s3? At least its not in the wrong section

People spend hours putting together guides, doing reviews, etc. It's frustrating sometimes to see how little effort some people put into utilizing the forum.
It works both ways. These boards would be alot less cluttered if people searched. We're all guilty of it, I'm not preaching. Just know where he coming from.
For example there's a great guide in the android development forum that compares many different roms.

Now i know LG abandoned this ship. I'm just as pissed off as the next guy about that one. I wouldn't mind an official jb or at least an ics update. But either way, I'm honestly quite satisfied with this phone and its performance. I'm running standard cm7 nightlies (latest) with Trinity t15 kernel and wolf script mod. Battery life is decent and bad when i whore wifi but that's the biggest iissue with my g2x. With all the hate threads around this forum there have to be others who have positive experiences with this device.
This phone is awesome. Since I started carrying around my portable nuclear power plant all my battery issues are gone.
Seriously though, if you use the phone the battery will drop. That is a law of physics you can't avoid. My problem with this phone was that with stock ROM the battery dropped a lot even when I did absolutely nothing. CM7 solved that, so I am happy.
I still don't get sufficient standby life so I am working on fixing an old HTC amaze (fixed bootloop, now waiting for screen to arrive). My wife's amaze can get over 4 days of standby and I just noticed that she has not rebooted it in close to 400 hours.

4 days of standby time? Sorry this is the g2x forum I don't know what that means.
Lol that's crazy!
I have about six months left until I'm available for an upgrade. Thinking the new s4, razor or nexus.
I agree this is still a pretty slick phone. I'm loving the dual boot setup with CM7/Trinity ELP as my runner and CM10.1 as my gaming/test platform. I'd probably be way more disappointed with the phone if I was stuck with stock software, but thanks to the awesome devs and their work I'm very happy with this phone.

For sure, if it weren't for the devs, we'd be screwed lol

I am currently running cm7 with Mazout360's kernel and wolfscript. I have themed my phone to be as similar to ICS/JB as possible, as that was the only way I could return to GB. I am very content with how it turned out.
In the end, I have accepted that I will probably never have fully functioning ICS or JB on this phone. But, I guess all that I was really looking for was that updated look and crisp feel, which I have since obtained!
Although I will move on to some sort of Nexus when I have better funding, I am satisfied with the g2x.
The only problem I seem to have with cm7 is this noticeable static flicker that appears very quickly after turning on the display. It only seems to do that with cm7 roms.

Not trying to hijack the thread, but is it possible to get the jellybean notification bar on gingerbread? Like with notifications you can swipe away and quick message replies to texts and all that. That might be the only thing keeping me on jellybean right now because I love the way it feels so intuitive and such.

I can swipe away notifications, that's something GB can do already I think. As for quick replys to messages and emails and such, I don't think so.
At least as far as I know.
I miss those features too, but I guess we can't have everything.
There are apps for pop up notifications though.
I can also swipe away notifications. Actually i found that out on mistake, had a few too many whisky cokes and tried responding to a text and swiped it away lol

Oh I went straight from Froyo on my old Optimus V to Jellybean on the G2X (I rooted and installed Paranoid Android right away) so I thought swipe notifications was a Jellybean thing. I'll install a Gingerbread ROM when I get back from work and try to make it look and feel like JB.
On topic, yes I'm very satisfied with my G2X, but that might also be because I wasnt expecting a high end phone when I bought it from eBay a few months ago. Also I have a Nexus 7 for any apps that I use that require a hardware accelerated jellybean.

AFAIK swipe notifications is a CM7 thing in GB ROMs.

The g2x works best if you chant "humba lumba humba" while standing on one leg!
I though problems would be fixed by updates.
And once rooted and a with custom rom
Everything was going to be working good like the days of the HTC G1.

For those of you who are content with cm7, even though it is old software, I am working on my "Speedster" rom. It is still quite alpha but my goals is to optimize CM7 for our G2xs. I am also doing a bunch of software updates inside and using Mazkrnl to have speed and stability. I use the latest ADW launcher in it and JB sounds so it really gives CM7 new life and gives it a great CM10 feel. I can't do anything about play store, still limited to 2.3 aps. No google keep/now
Pie, I'm willing to flash your rom whenever its out of the alpha stage. Or let me know if you need a tester
I use this for the theme.
