So I just got this thing for my One X called the Gameklip. What it is is a bracket that mounts your phone to a PS3 controller effectively turning it into an awesome portable game system. It is made by a fellow XDA'er, he charges $15, makes them to order specifically for whatever phone you order it for. Believe me when I tell you, this thing is worth EVERY damn penny. It's just a piece of plastic, but it is damn sturdy and the One X fits in it perfectly. Check out his thread to see what it's about and expect a video review from me tomorrow evening. To summarize what I will be saying in the video, if you game on your One X and use the PS3 controller, you MUST buy this thing. It's not an option. Buy it. This is EASILY the coolest thing ever made for Android phones. You buy now!

Lol, that looks so tacky! If I had a PS3 controller I'd prolly buy one though...

Tacky? No way. It is a thing of absolute beauty.

Does it hook/unhook nicely? Or does it sound like its gonna crack every time?

Once you figure out how to put it on, it goes on nice and smooth. It's flexible enough that it snaps on with a minimal amount of effort.

There are stock pics in the OP. Video review is coming, probably won't get to it tonight though. Been having issues with my phone, gonna flash a new ROM and get my HOX all set back up again. That's gonna take some time.

yeah, ive been following the OP, just wanted to see if actual shipping products looked like that or varried at all

Does the wired version work with an unrooted One X?

It is my understanding that ICS does have native USB game controller support but don't quote me on that. This is just a plastic bracket, there are no electronics in it. The "wired version" just comes with a USB OTG cable. If you have an OTG cable already, you can try it out and see if it works for you. You also won't need to buy the wired one then. But considering where you're posting, I must recommend that you do root. It opens up a world of possibilities, including bluetooth PS3 controller support.

What emulators are you guys using? I grabbed "john nes" from the Play store and I'm having trouble getting the PS3 controller to work with it.

I have used DroidEmu and N64oid so far. Yet to try Gensoid and GENPLUSDroid I have installed.
Finally tried XBox controller and was PnP!

I cant get anything to work with this PS3 controller. It pairs but thats about it.

does the JoyCenter app show buttons being pressed?

I can't find a joycenter app on the play store. I'm using DroidEmu and the Sixaxis app. The Sixaxis app starts up and tells me "Client connected" then the 1 light stays lit on the controller, then I switch the IME to Sixaxis controller. When I fire up DroidEmu with a rom running I get nothing. I tried playing with some settings in DroidEmu but no luck.

I know he has a Test App too, but I have to use this as well as the PS3 pairing to get mine to work. I have a thread on it.

yup!
the program i use personally is called "wii controller ime" or something like that. I think it costs 5 bucks. I think I heard somewhere that there were other programs that were free and were just as good. So check it out unless you are like my and 5 bucks is nothing really... Wii IME had the highest ratings back when I was looking for an app so it didnt hurt to pay the extra money.
If you are only playing at home then youll be fine. Its when you wanna play on the go or something like that is annoying. again why i made my controller setup. Now I can play while laying in my bed on my back.
I just got the wii mote. I have the wii app from the market and tested it on my sisters controllers it works fine. I tried a nyko controller but it didn't sync. I was told it haas to be a original controller. Hopefully the one I get is a official remote and not a good replica.are there other apps to use third party remotes?

correct, ive bought at least 5-6 different types of aftermarket wii controllers and non of them would sync up.
I'm seriously waiting for nintendo to make an official wireless classic controller so that I can remake my little controller to be a little bit smaller. But it all honesty it isnt that bad. I just throw it in my bag and it holds up fine. Been two weeks now and its still just as tight as the first day.

One thing you can do which isn't very honest is after u get your wii mote, go buy a real one at walmart or something. Swap the two and keep the real one and then bring the aftermarket one back.
Because of return policies there are a lot of loop holes that are possible to use. Ofc your own ethics have a lot to do with your actions. I for one won't judge, most people have done far worse one time or another in their lives.

And according to another thread, there is a Datel Wii Classic controller which doesn't require a Wiimote. At least one person was successful in using it with his Android.
Ill try the walmart swap lol but the controller is black and doesn't even say wii on it. But most people working for a store don't know much of their product anyway. Ill look for a used one online.

I dont feel like risking the 50 bucks.
The controller I ordered from ebay is confirmed working. Just played different emulators with it and it synched and played through all with no errors or disconnecting. Not bad for $23 including the rechargeable battery.

Your prayer worked The controller works with no problem.
Sent from my T-Mobile G2 using XDA App
Has anybody here considered buying the Datel controller? I would buy something like that if my G2 could somehow output to a larger screen.
I have considered it, but since I have no problem doing a dragon punch with the classic controller and the guy that reviewed the datel wireless said he was unable to that really turned me off. Even if it was specially designed to hold the phone I doubt id get it.
That's what you get from an oem manufacture usually though. Quality.

If I may ask/suggest why you are using screws in the construct? Try to use wood glue or wooden dowels to avoid the screws getting in your way later.

@deliriousdroid: That looks nice, what kind of wood is it? Is it designed to work in both portrait and landscape mode?
I've got the ~$20 plastic dock that has the built-in spare battery charger in the back, but today, in my office, I had my car setup (Arkon) on my desk using the bean bag/friction mount. I really liked the fact that I could flip it from portrait to landscape, and adjust the angle, etc. I may have to try and combine the two...
Wow I love the grain in that wood. Very nice.

On my next dock, I am planning on buying a cable specifically for the project and in the side of the dock, have another strip of wood, make a hole the right size and glue it in. Currently I am just plugging my phone in for the night, hitting a app that keeps my screen on and leaving it on my home screen.
By the way, do you think there would be any demand for high end custom made phone docks?

mesmerize new us cellular rom 2.2 with working wiimote????

so this maybe a far off idea cuz i really know nothing about how to work over or cook a rom but now that us cellular has put out 2.2 and everything is working is there a way to copy the bluetooth stack out of the cooked rom's that could run wiimote and put it into the stock rom so that we can blow are horns about how we can also run wiimote in 2.2. it sounds like this is a real hard one to crack so the person that gets it done would have big bragging rights.lol let me know what you think.

I have been wanting this feature on the Mesmerize for a long time. I'd love to donate to a developer that could bring us this feature. Yesterday I beat the original Legend of Zelda on tiger nes emulator I can personally say the touch screen controls are a terrible way to play. Thank goodness for save states.

Now I'm working on beating Double Dragon - and I'd sure love to be able to do the jump kick without lifting my hand off the phone and tapping a and b together with my pointer and index finger. Unfortunately I feel like I'm playing with a hand up my ass.
I would donate to whoever got it working too! I've been waiting for one- I haven't tried it yet and i don't really plan to but I heard that the bt might work on the AOSP ROM. Worth a shot.
PS Where do you go after you get the sword in Zelda?

Oh hot damn that would be nice.
AFAIK, and a dev might chime in and prove me wrong, but the main reason the wiimote doesn't work is because Bluetooth HID (human interface device) drivers are not built into our roms. There are workarounds for Bluetooth keyboards, but I doubt they'd work for the wii remote. That's my understanding of it, like I said though, I may be wrong.
Sent from EC10 PnP 0.3 + voodoo
from what i have been reading is that some HID items will work and some people are saying that it has to do with are phones using bluetooth 3.0 and wii remotes can't do 3.0 but i have seen clams that some of the other Roms out there when flashed to are phone can run wiimote but the Roms that can have most if not all the samsung software removed. I'm just hoping that someone smarter then me come along and tells us " o thats an easy fix now that 2.2 is out. here you go" well till then i guess we will all just be here hoping.
Not sure about the wiimote, but some bt hid drivers can be compiled into the kernel. Will try to look into it soon.

"jt1134" Hey. That would be great. Thank you for reading my post and looking into it

It's hard to explain but on my phone it kind of stutters. It seems like the FPS is slightly below 30 so it looks a tiny bit choppy. Perhaps because of trying to process the game *and* outputting to TV.
But on my TV, it seems it's smoother. Not sure why. Either way, the picture quality and color reproduction is a million times better, not to mention the size!

Already tested the Xbox 360 controller for Windows and it is working (also PS3 controller, Logitech F310 and F710).
Putting details about my connectivity testing in this thread. Be great if others dropped a line about what they're using!

You don't need root. You can use cable.

If you read a little more carefully you will see that I was replying to comment about the Sixaxis Controller app, which makes the PS3 the best controller option, but does require Root to be at its best.
Obviously I am aware that it works via USB OTG - I already reported that here. You can check my YouTube channel to see that I know a little about device connection options ;p

I recently bought a moga pro controller and absolutely love it. The build quality is awesome and the built in clip is great.

Have you tried it with any emulators? I'm about 99% certain I'm getting one but I'm really curious about how it works with emulators.

It worked great with Mupen N64 emulator but that's the only emulator I've tried. For games that are optimized for it, the experience is superb (GTA: Vice City)

I've tried with my HTC One for emulators and the right analog stick and shoulder buttons do nothing, but that may be due to HTCs bluetooth stack which has historically been a pain with HID controllers.
Will test with my S4 tonight.
I really want to get a game pad, is there any reviews on how any of them look/work on the S4?
also probably wrong thread to ask this but where can i get some good emulators? I currently have the Myboy one but only use it for pokemon lol
want a better gaming experience
