Hello All,
If I download kernel source code from http://nv-tegra.nvidia.com/gitweb/?p=linux-2.6.git;a=summary and flash it after compiling, will my Xoom be able to function correctly?
Tegra 2 is basically a ARM Cortex-A9 processor, so if I download kernel source code from arm.com site instead of nvidia, will that work?
For me, only one way to tell, is to try.....

How would you install it on an Atrix 2 if the bootloader is locked? What kernel are you planning to use?

Who knows? At worst you'll have a brick.
Why would you want to risk doing this?

3G support for what?
Your device doesn't have a sim card slot.
I have a 3G dongle

Shouldn't that work out of the box? I guess you have tried, but you didn't explicitly state it didn't work.

Which is a usb device right?
The 700KL is not just a 700T with additional hardware, it has a very different SOC. So even if you manage to flash the firmware somehow, the chance of bricking your device is approximately 100%.
*facepalm* You'd be better off throwing it off the balcony.
The KL has a different processor. What do you think will happen if you install the Snapdragon Q4 Dualcore driver on a Nvidia Tegra 3 Quadcore processor?

whats, roughly, the exact differences between TF700T and TF700KL ?
Odp: [q] tf700kl on tf700t
So you want to use a 3G USB dongle with TF700?
If you have the keyboard dock - root your device, then download PPP Widget from Google Play. There is a good chance it will work (it works for me, YMMV depending on the modem brand).
If you don't have the dock - purchase an OTG cable and try with it.

I don't understand your intentions. Are you looking for a kernel? Every ROM has one build in as far as I know. You could use the Blackhawk kernel though.

The simple answer is NO !!!

I've been searching through the forums here, but haven't really found a definate answer.
I got a tf300tG that I've updated to 4.2.1 using the tablets own update.
it's build number is:
JOP40D.TW_epad-10.6.2.10-20130918
After the update, I unlocked the bootloader using the file from asus' own website.
So far so good.
Now I'm trying to figure out how to get twrp installed, but most guides seem to be for the non-3g version (tf300t), and no guides on the G version seem to be updated to 4.2.1
I checked the twrp site, but the tf300tg link leads to an empty folder.
However, the tf300t link leads to a folder that inlcudes files seemingly for the tf300tg, but none of the G versions have the 4.2 ending...
So what to do???
Regards
Anders

Yes, as I understand it TWRP is the recovery and the 3g feature is being enable by the ROM - I previously loaded the ROM for the T version and the 3g stopped working. I later flash a rom for the TG version and the 3g worked again.
When you compare the ROM version numbers between T and TG models you will see it's different....

How would one update a phone to a newer version? Would they take a pre-existing one and try to merge it with their stock one? Or would they try to merge all the commits made since their version of android?

If you're phone using mtk chip set you can port ROMs to it. Just search "mtk ROM porting" on xda
No, Qualcomm.
