Offline voice recognition from 4.1 - Nexus S Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Does anyone know what licensing issues would be involved with building an app for the Nexus S using the android source code so that you could use the offline voice recognition from android 4.1 on the Nexus S?

I read that it's up to the dev to put it on their rom or not...But I'm I CAN be wrong. Anyways if you use English US only this

will work. I tried in French my language it didn't work, but in English US it's impressive almost flawless. Enjoy offline typing...Lazy dude

vocal sms composing?

Hello everyone.
I'm looking for a software that allow to compose a sms without using the keyboard on the HD2.
There is something free or pay?
Something like Shout Out for iphone...
Thanks
Do a search for TellMe.
Does it work on the HD2?
TellMe does work, I installed it last night.
I was just about to make a thread on this very topic. I was wondering if there was anything available similar to the voice dictation thing that Android has. I used a Hero for about 2 days & that's the only thing I really miss about it now.

You need to install microsoft voice command first as it uses this to recognise your voice. But you are correct in assuming is is US only, it has trouble understanding any other accent.
In writing this I have just had the thought that as it uses MVC as the underlying software perhaps you can install the british/french/german version of MVC and see if TellMe then responds in these languages.
What nationality are you?, it would be worth giving that a go if you are french or german and would also bring some usefulness to this thread as your original question has been answered a few times before. (use the search )

Onscripter for android (Visual Novel)

Here's a link for an onscripter port
http://forum.androidcentral.com/and...1-onscripter-android-visual-novel-engine.html
i tested it out with Narcissu, it works great!
but the text seems to bug, probably a problem of it being a port of the japanese onscripter.
Had a go at porting onscripter EN but its way over my head, couldn't get the NDK to compile properly.
It works!
This is so great!
Thank you a lot for this post!
I tested it just now on my HTC Desire (Gingerbread) and it works!
But I have also problems with the text... Any solutions?
It's a Japanese port, and was designed to work with Japanese.
Due to the difference in how Japanese and English are being used in computers (and obviously, our smartphones as well) it's impossible to use the original port.
For more information, search "Japanese language and computers" on wikipedia.
There seems to be an updated apk for english translations on this site.
You are ONScripter on Anroid
i try this one...thank you
humm, I've tried the most recent apk before and it worked. But to my opinion it was unusable because it garbled up the text.
This english version could proof to be a fix, I'll try this when I got some spare time.
What makes it different seems to be "ENABLE_1BYTE_CHAR" and "FORCE_1BYTE_CHAR" being enabled. If this is the only change, and it proves to be working, we could compile the latest version with these arguments.
I hope to see some progress on this, I like visual-novels a lot

Google Voice does only speak english ?

Hello,
I am french and I run the official stock JB release. I tried to use Google Now and thought I would be able to ask questions and my answer would then be spoken like I saw on youtube videos, but it's not the case ...
All it does is display the answer, but does not speak like SIRI does ... I downloaded the french voice pack, I activated voice everywhere in JB, but still does not talk ...
I then tried in english but still no voice !
Am I missing something ? Is Google Voice only a pre-release and will only be speaking in futures releases ?
EDIT : it seems that the button named "download offline speech recognition" is not present in the official stock JB release, and we need to click on it to download files which will let Google Now speak ... Does anyone know why this button is not there ? Will it be there in a future release ?
Thanks for your help !

Multilinguage ICS advice

Hello guys. I was recently given a MT4G Slide to flash with any custom ROM (preferably ICS), with key criteria being stability and availability of various languages (not just keyboard, but change the whole OS). The phone will be used in Russia, therefore that's the language that needs to be added. I did look at most ROMS and no one really specifies which languages if any are in the ROM. I assume most slim ROMs don't have anything other then basic english/spanish. I wanted to ask if anyone with good stable ICS ROM can check if they have the Russian in the language selection menu. I understand it will be hard to come by as this is a US-only variant, but has hoping that many one of the cooks used stock google with multiple languages pre-installed.
Also, how hard would it be to remap the hardware keyboard or has anyone seen or knows where to purchase cyrilic keyboard for the device? Thanks for any info anyone can provide.

Blasphemous noob may the heavens rain down on thee with the vengeful hatred for that which we call ignorance and inability to follow forum rules!
The FBI has been alerted. Any second they will kick down your door and proceed to charge you with crimes that "you did not commit"
Yea we know, you're innocent.

Hi there!
I've already adopted the keyboard for russian locale. I'll provide you some instructions a bit later, when I'll be at my home computer. I use Russian Keyboard app with Virtuos Infinity beta1 mod, and I like it a lot - it supports custom layouts via xml, language toggle with sym button, and some other perks. Stay tuned
Sent from my myTouch 4G Slide using xda app-developers app
First of all, this is the wrong section for creating this kind of threads.
CyanogenMod (CM 9.1) supports all bunch of languages including Russian, Ukrainian, Arabic, many Asian languages and a lot more.
SKAm69, CM out-of-the-box does not support localization of the hardware keyboard - a third party app is needed for that. As for UI translation, I personally prefer English UI anyway.
So... here we go.
The archive includes: keychars/keylayouts - put it to corresponding folder in /system/usr and fix permissions (root is a must!), xml file for RuKeyboard and xls table to understand which letter goes where. Everything is made and tested on an ICS rom.
I usually switch languages with single press of the sym button, shift+sym does the symbol selection popup, alt+sym gives the smiles popup window.
www./com button is mapped as a tab, alt+www. gives a "www." input, shift+www. calls web popup window.
Every keymap can be customized using these files - just lurk a little bit and make a try.
