I'm going to update xoom to JB (OTA).
Will root be lost ? How to regain root ?
Is root keeper work ?
I'm gonna try OTA then EOS rom just to see the different.
Once I go JB OTA , will I able to flash EOS rom ? (I think yes, with unlocked bootloader and cwm)

If you mean voodoo root keeper, that's what I would try.

i've got some questions
so we all know that the ics update is just some weeks away
i'm not really sure if i should flash the stock rom to get some original ics taste.
1.can i root my tf when flashing to the latest tf honeycomb stock rom?
2.also is it possible to root ics after the update?
also i heard of the new tool from supercurio(OTA rootkeeper) as i understood, it has a function to somehow unroot your device and also reroot it because it keeps some su backups. supercurio says that the reroot will work unless the /system partition will be formated with an update.
so now a little scenario
i flash my tablet to the latest stock honeycomb rom from asus.
then root it. now i use ota rootkeeper to preserve my root and unroot my device when the update is released. i update to ics.
3. should it now be possible to reroot the device?
4.will the /system partition be formated?
5. or should i just wait until some custom roms on ics basis are released?
regards =)

1. yes, with nachoroot
2. it is possible on prime now (see prime forum) and also expected on TF101
No reason to unroot if the update arrives. OTA update is only blocked when CWM is installed.
3. yes if system partition is not formatted. This is not the case on prime and wouldn't expect this also on TF101
4. This is not the case on prime and wouldn't expect this also on TF101
5. Whatever you want. See also point 2.

You need to upgrade to stock JB before to get the JB bootloader. And when installing a custom ROM you cannot retain root - either the ROM is pre-rooted, or you have to install a root app via recovery.

No custom rom will upgrade your device to JB, you need to flash Asus stock JB first, or just flash JB boot loader to bring you from ICS to JB. I recommend to flash full Asus JB stock, then after that you can flash custom rom.

Thanks for the replies.
The problem I am having is when I flash the full Asus JB stock, I lose root. How do I upgrade to JB and keep root?

no expert here and not sure what your asking. I had rooted mine then stuck on a cust rom but had to exchange it. So I used TriangleAway to reset the count then just stuck on the official 4.0.4 and it was back to stock.. no root. Anytime you put on a stock rom it is then unrooted but the counter is still the same so I used TA and perfect.

Ive decided too take one of tf300s home from work to help feed my root hunger (also running cm10.1 on htc evo 4g lte)
This tablet is currently running 4.0.3
Assuming i will be walking the custom ROM road, should I leave tablet at 4.0.3 or upgrade to JB? I won't have my p c to perform fastboot until next week, this is why i ask.
Thanks in advance
Sent from my ASUS Transformer Pad TF300T using xda app-developers app
I would suggest moving up to JB. I've been using CM 10.1 (which is running 4.2.1) on my TF300T and it's been great. The UI and options are better on JB than on ICS, even though ICS was a pretty great step up.

I also just got my tablet now and I'm holding the firmware update while reading, what do you advice? push to OTA or unlock, root, then custom rom? I thought I saw few others having problem with JB is that OTA JB? That's why I'm not pushing any OTA updates for now.
Thanks in advance!

1st solution (That I've made)
Don't update to JB now.
Rooted and unlock in ICS
Backup your root with OTA Rootkeeper
and after JB update by OTA and restore your root with OTA ROOTKEEPER.
2nd Solution:
Or unlock and root your TF and use the NVFLASH tool (with pre-JB bootloader)
3rd solution:
Go on OTA JB Update
Unlock your TF
and use this guide : [ROOT/ROM] Root Stock/Deodex Firmware 10.4.2.20 (US/WW) | Insecure kernel ! when you are on the version of firmware
Go to my index and you will find all the links that you need

Thanks for your help here's what I did:
-Unlocked using APK
-did NVFLASH tool
-flash CWM
-root
-install OTA Rootkeeper
Now I want to install hydro and I know I have to be in JB boot loader the only question for me now to be able to proceed is:
-Install the pending OTA JB update (I dont know if this will proceed installing since it was downloaded while Im stock, I'm afraid it will brick my device since Im now unlocked, nvflash, rooted)
OR
-Just DL latest from ASUS (ASUS Transformer Pad TF300T Firmware: V10.4.2.20 Only for US SKU (Android 4.1)) Can I just install the latest or I need to install pre requisite update first?
THEN
-Install compatible recovery for JB
-Install custom rom

It's really easy now that you're unlocked, rooted and used NVFlash.
I suppose you're still in ICS.
Backup somewhere all of your files (stock rom, nvflash file etc...) use Titanium backup for save & restore your apps later
You can use both process for update your TF
The OTA update, and every time, you are going to have to restore your root.
I'm looking for rooting my device with locked bootloader without recovery!! (d6603) on lollipop 5.0.2
Someone can help me?
Covered before.. U need to downgrade to 4.4.4, then root, then install recovery.. Then flash a pre-rooted 5.0.2 in recovery.

But I do not want recovery my device..
you cannot root a lollipop rom, you have to downgrade to KK, root it then upgrade again to a rooted lollipop rom, only way it via a flashable zip that can only be installed by using one of the 2 recoveries
why don't you want a recovery?

Not true. If you keep the locked bootloader and install a recovery you can still get official updates. But you will lose root, however you will always lose root of you officially update regardless of if you have recovery of not
Yes, but to apply the update you need a stock recovery.

I still do not want recovery .. it does not work as good like the original version ..
A root and a custom recovery is good to backup and most important : RESTORE a working version of the ROM in case of a soft brick.
But it is your choice.

I still prefer only root .. my old phone (Xperia s) made it only root .. no recovery or things like that .. This is the most recommended in my opinion but I do not know when in the new version of z3 came out with only root .. I'm really looking forward to it
