Did anyone notice before .26 that the top unused speeds in cpu spy were 1.9 and the top speed now is 1.7??

Yes, there's been some changes in the DVFS tables (tegra3_dvfs.c) in the newer kernel:
.22:
Code:
CPU_DVFS("cpu_g", 5, 3, MHZ, 1, 1, 770, 770, 910, 910, 1150, 1230, 1280, 1330, 1370, 1400, 1470, 1500, 1500, 1540, 1540, 1700,1810,1900),
CPU_DVFS("cpu_g", 5, 4, MHZ, 1, 1, 770, 770, 940, 940, 1160, 1240, 1280, 1360, 1390, 1470, 1500, 1520, 1520, 1590, 1700, 1700,1810,1900),
.26:
Code:
CPU_DVFS("cpu_g", 5, 3, MHZ, 1, 1, 770, 770, 910, 910, 1150, 1230, 1280, 1330, 1370, 1400, 1470, 1500, 1500, 1540, 1540, 1700),
CPU_DVFS("cpu_g", 5, 4, MHZ, 1, 1, 770, 770, 940, 940, 1160, 1240, 1280, 1360, 1390, 1470, 1500, 1520, 1520, 1590, 1700),
As you can see they've removed 1810 and 1900 MHz from the dynamic frequency range. Probably because it wasn't supposed to be there?
T33 can be overclocked to 1900, but on the stock kernel couldn't and can't go beyond 1700 for single-core and 1600 for multi-core use, so now it just shows what was actually happening already.

Correct. those higher speeds were only for testing purposes. now if you were rooted and still on older firmware, you couldve manually overclocked those higher speeds.

Isn't this the same thing we ran into with the Prime. The higher speeds were listed but not accessible and we surmised they were saving them for the next model.

Which is the overall better processor? I've heard that OMAP3430 is better for graphics because it has a dedicated GPU and snapdragon is better for overall snappyness. I've debating between the Motorola Droid or waiting out for the HTC Passion. I'm more interested in video playback and browsing speeds so which of these processors would be better for those?
Passion has only been rumored to be out, its not actually out, and no specs have been out for it.
I have seen some Android 2.0 ROMS with OMAP 3430 running at 1 GHZ, I have seen some running at 600 Mhz, so its hard to say for sure what will be out,
But I would say do not go with what the rumors tell you, until you can verify everything with 1-2 sources, with the exact same details.
Once you can do that then believe it, but at this time, i have only seen one story about Passion.
I have seen stuff about HTC Dragon that says 1 Ghz Snapdragon, but looking inside a Dragon ROM, and its filled with OMAP reference to everything (1500 OMAP reference, and 5 Qualcomm Reference) So what does that mean, its been rumored for SnapDragon, but I tend to think otherwise.
Just for the record snapdragon too has dedicated GPU - AMD z430(now rebranded adreno 200) and their performance is similar.

yup, in Barcelona, back in February, I've played Price of persia running at WVGA on the Toshi TG01 (1 GHz Snapdragon) pretty much - the 3D performance was pretty good. also see my dedicated article & video.
interesting, so it seems the snapdragon is in another league... i had no idea it had a dedicated GPU.

Your assessment of which is faster is true. The GPU on the OMAP is a PowerVR SGX which performs better than the Snapdragon GPU which is an AMD Z430. I hope someone else can provide more details on what exactly that means for running applications like the new google navigator.
With screen of 800x480 or above, a fast GPU is a must. With all those graphic applications (games, video, GPS maps, etc), a phone will need high speed graphics. One does not need a number crunching CPU on phone. The phone/processor which has better and faster graphic processor will win.
2D graphics operations aren't hardware-accelerated (in WinMo, at least).

I'm also waiting on this device. It has been a long wait already though, so I hope some definitive specifications and/or date of release will become availabe soon. Some specs appear to be quite certain, but in the end we have nothing but rumors at this moment.
I do really hope they maintain the 4.7" screensize. I really don't want a bulky phone that will annoy me when I have it in my pocket...
The latest info I can find is from the facebook-page of Jiayu Germany. https://www.facebook.com/JiayuDE/posts/865090990278818 (this link is in German of course, but for those able to read it (or use google translate) I include it here). It seems that the German distributor is the most active in spreading the news about the S4. I'm defenitly keeping an eye on them for this.
I guess we will have to wait a little longer...
This is false, Jiayu phones have Jiayu LOGO on the back.
This photo comes from the facebook-page of Jiayu Germany, an official distributor. They say it was a non-functioning dummy. That could explain the absence of a logo.
But like I said: all we have at the moment are rumors. I'm really waiting for some confirmed specs.
Hey all
This thread is for general discussions regarding the Samsung Galaxy S Duos specifications and general design features. As the device has been around for some time, it would be interesting to hear from members who own the device, what has made you stick with it for so long?

2016 say ta ta, Bye Bye, Adios, Sayonara, Astala vista
This is the worst phone that Samsung made, and to think that they made Samsung s Duos 2 and 3 too (even worse than worse). it's a shame on us as well. it was heavily priced, and we made it the most selling device back in 2012-2013. just because it had an S series title and 5mp camera. nothing else was good about this. (Now I realize it's not even 5mp, check in antutu benchmark)
200 USD You get octa core devices man, even if it was quad core, dual core atleast, we would have survived, for another year.
2016 is "The End" for this.
We are only using this mobile, to take out with us, so that if it get lost, we don't feel bad about it that much.
We are keeping this mobile, to get rid of our wives and bosses cause the battery drains faster in call than they come to their point where you can't take any of them with you, the battery dies. :good:
People are selling this online as low as 30 USD, in exchange, it's even worse, they are giving 20 USD.
change the subject to farewell s duos, will you. that would be much appropriate.
Thank you

Qualcomm has received an order from big clients for a faster iteration of Snapdragon and, guess what? The Snapdragon 821 is born and its Kryo core frequency has jumped from a previous 2.15GHz to 2.4Ghz.
One of the design wins that got leaked a few weeks back is the LeEco LeMax 2 Pro with 8GB or RAM but we suspect that Qualcomm wanted to prepare this chip for the Samsung Galaxy Note S7, the biggest design win to come in the Android space.
Since the Snapdragon 820 with Kryo core clocked at 2.15GHz has been selling for two quarters, the company managed to do additional optimization and increased the clock by an impressive 250MHz getting it to a final 2.4Ghz. This is again a maximal processor clock and as you know this maximal clock will only occur occasionally when the SoC needs a lot of power. We can think of two possible scenarios where you will be able to max the Snapdragon 821, launching the application and some of the games.
Qualcomm has managed to get to 115 design wins with Snapdragon 820, but again since the Snapdragon 820 got so successful, some important clients wanted to get something a bit faster. The company claims a 10 percent performance increase in performance.
It is clear that Snapdragon 821 will not replace the Snapdragon 820. They will both co-exist as many vendors will not want to pay the premium.
The rest of the device including DSP, Snapdragon X12 LTE modem remain unchanged and we are waiting to hear back about the possible change of the maximal GPU clock. Qualcomm Snapdragon 820 is inside of the Samsung Galaxy S7, Galaxy S7 Edge , Xiaomi Mi5, LG G5, HTC 10, LeEco LeMax 2 and Sony Xperia X and at least 108 other less prominent phones.
Snapdragon 821 is expected in phones in the second half of 2016 and it won’t be reserved for smartphones only. You can expect to see Snapdragon 821 based tablets, mobile VR head mounted displays and other new devices. The last Galaxy Note 5 was launched in the middle of August, and that gives us the idea that the Galaxy Note 7 might not be far off either.
We can guess that IFA, that starts in the first days of September in Berlin German will be an interesting place and time for some additional Snapdragon 821 devices too.

The Adreno 418 inside the Snapdragon 808 (LG V10) is to graphically couple talking about the Adreno 510 Snapdragon 652 (LENOVO PHAB 2 PRO)
That is, much has been said that if this processor did not compete with the snapdragon 810 ... but we can see that the snapdragon 808 has much less throttling the snapdragon 810, which low frequency clock very fast ...
Currently the Snapdragon 808 we can classify as a processor SUPER MEDIA RANGE, like the. Snapdragon 650-652
I leave this interesting information
Finally, snapdragon 652 processor is faster cpu, since this has cores A72 A57 snapdragon vs 808, but graphics are on par, and almost reach the graph huawei mate 8
I hope you have served this information, and although the 808 is not a snapdragon 820, is undoubtedly a very good processor
A hug, and sorry for my english

i cant belive 808 is almost 13000 lower than 810...i think is lower than that, i already have a 810 phone the G Flex2 and it overheat time to time but men, 810 is a faster much much faster than 808 in my V10.
652 is the new generation of 600 series so is for sure faster than 808, the 808 came only because the 810 overheat and to make 808 dont overheat Qualcomm cut 2 big cores and reduce the frequency of them.
if Qualcomm dont make the mistake they did with 810 i belive V10 could came with 810 inside and will be a monster, killing everything of other brands...they could do like Huawei do in 6P, put a revision 2.1 or newer of 810 but no, anyway V10 is a great overall phone, i dont regreat the change of G Flex2 to V10.
