custom ROMS with Samsung apps - Samsung Infuse 4G

I have a question. First off I really like all the roms available for the infuse. I'm currently using paranoid Android Ics. But my question is, is it possible to install some Samsung stock apps like the video player or music player, program monitor widget, ect I have the "my files" Apk but it won't install.... Is their a way, what should I do.

You should be able to download samsung apps in the play store, but i'm not sure they are compatible with ICS

Andtos is right...Samsung apps are nit compatible with ics...most if nit all of them have touchwiz dependencies

Well my wife has skyrocket and she just got official update to ics. And all her Samsung Alps still work. Would installing touchwiz help. And allow me those apps?

You may have a chance by copying the samsung apps from the skyrocket and see if they install.
But I personally believe there are far better 3rd party apps in the play store that will meet your needs.

Most likely they still wont work...the dependencies are in the twframework-res.apk and framework-res.apk -thats where the real touchwiz is
We no longer have twframework-res in ICS and our framework-res is different because its built off of aosp... so we don't have any of the dependencies...and will most likely never get them, porting them isn't an option...it would have to come from Samsung :/...they require libs and other stuff not available in aosp

[Q] Safe to remove Apps? Nexus S

Nearly every device has a list of safely removable Apps. Not ours
I use the 2.3.6 Stock-Rom and would like to remove some of the bloat.
Please post which Apps you have safely removed, and if there was problems after removing. Also on which Android System you did this (2.x or 4.x).
Thank you!
We already vanilla..thats why..other phones have apps from samsung htc blah blah..
For me removed maps wallet carhome did not interfere with system either GB or.ICS

Thanks, but i prefer Gingerbread. Any idea which Apps the GB-Customs have removed? There is no list in their Threads.
Lol. Nexus S is vanilla as vanilla gets. The stuff that's on there is basically just the basics like gallery and the Google Apps. Here's what I would do, freeze the apps you think you don't need and see how you get along using the phone. If it doesn't cause instability, or if there's an app on the market which is better(ie Quick Pic> Stock gallery), you're good to go. At least that way, if something happens, you can always fall back on something. I haven't been on Gingerbread in so long so I don't know the default apps off the top. ICS added a few more Google Apps which I had no need for on stock so I have them disabled.

If you use stock because you prefer stock, that's on you. But If you want a GB ROM that's 99% stock and has no bloatware, use oxygen 2.3.2.
Or look up what apps Oxygen 2.3.2 comes with
+1 for Oxygen. A few extras but about as stock can be. You can also try Bugless Beast or Blandroid. I've used all three and they're all great.
Devnull also great..yeahh

S-Voice

Anybody interested in trying it out..
http://db.tt/sXWJVMUX
I tried yesterday for a while with no luck. I tried fixing permissions manually but always got a parsing error. I ended up giving up after a while. It may work with some effort but it was not a simple install for me.

Close this thread its only for ics phones thats why u get parsing error anything under 4.0 it wont work
Sent From a Galaxy S with 4G
I read tonight it only works on ics. There is a function it requires to install that is not part of GB stock based ROMs. Not sure if it will work on AOSP based ROMs or not.
Sent from my SGH-T959V using Xparent Purple Tapatalk 2
1. You need twframeworks .. obviously cause ICS AOSP doesn't support an assistant built in.
2. Two, all of the resources are dependent on new ICS frameworks.
3. It won't work on this phone no matter what we do. We don't have TW ICS.
We''ll probably get AOSP, but for this to work, we'll ned TW.
4. Jelly Bean, Android 4.1/5.0 will have it's own integrated personal assistant probably, which will be 100% better than S-Voice.
-reasons
-better hardware at the time
-better API
-android integration(you need to open your app drawer to get to S-Voice. which sucks)
Will this run for me on ics Rom ? Can I just install or no
Sent From My Rooted 3D
no
first of all, I doubt that you are using any form of a Galaxy S(IDK why you posted here)
you are probably using an Evo 3D or an Optimus 3D, and there are "no" chances unless you have touchwiz ICS, which "ONLY" galaxy S phones can have. I doubt it can be ported to other phones like Sense UI can.
in case you didnt read, i mentioned that i used to own a galaxy s 4g. i passed it on to a friend and got a nexus s. No TouchWiz, and the app worked ok after modifying the build.prop a little.
just wanted to share here because i really liked this community. I'm grateful to all the Devs that made my old 4g run flawlessly. So i thought i would share some love.. BUT i honestly had no idea it was an ICS only app... so sorry.
too bad. samsung has fix this leak so the one and only s III is only able to use it now.
Ok well for all people knocking this It's working for my on da 3d with np right now going to post a link in a few uploading now here you go

Yay I have siri!! I mean "Galaxy" lol. It works good but not the double tab home button, oh well its still cool to have
sent from the headquarters of the Umbrella Corporation
If using apex launcher you can set it open by double tapping the home screen.
Hit menu then apex settings, behavior settings, and Desktop double tap. Select launch app and select S-voice.
I thought the double tap thing might be launcher related. I'm going to test Stock launcher vs Nova and see if that makes a difference.
Edit: No luck. Maybe it has to do with the S-Voice version..?
I tried installing it after connecting it via USB mode but it says "there is a problem parsing the package." My Samsung Galaxy S 4G has been rooted btw.

What rom? I believe s-voice will only work on ics based roms.

S-voice

Is s-voice unsuccessful on the skyrocket?as I have not seen it included in ROMs , is there any good alternatives out there?

If you use an AOSP based ROM such as CM10/AOKP they will have Jelly Bean and one of the new things added is Google Now which I think is 10x bettery imo.

You could try Robin from the play store. It worked fine on my GS II Skyrocket. The S-Voice app would always crash.
Embryo ROM has S-Voice.
S voice sucks everytime I tried it (not sure about the S3 , but in SR that is).. Waste of time .
Agreed - I've used both on my S2, and Google Now is better. To be honest, regular Voice Search is just as good in a lot of ways!
S-voice...
I am not totally sure, but I believe it has to be a TW rom in order to work correct? This is more of a question for my own memory banks than a statement...
I use Google Now and it works really well. Just need Google Now to open apps and put events in calendar and the stars will align....

Gs3 Tom for skyrocket?

Is there a rom that's just like the galaxy s3 for the skyrocket that's fast and stable? I can find anything on the xda app
Sent from my SAMSUNG-SGH-I727 using xda app-developers app
There are a few that use the GS3's Touchwiz launcher (example: SkyICS). But, I haven't see any w/ all of the GS3's features (like Smart Stay, etc).
Ya it would be cool to have a ROM that had all the gs3 apks and stuff
Sent from my Transformer Prime TF201 using XDA Premium HD app
yeah people continue to point to those roms but thats not a straight touchwiz rom like on the gs3
i would have thought there would be just about the same amount of TW roms to Stock Android roms

I had smartstay on my rocket before. It didn't work great and I really just didn't care for it. You can get it though. I'm sure you can poke around with search and grab an apk for it

[Q] Outdated Apps

My apps are outdated. When I bought the phone - pre-root, my stock apps were different. I notice that Google Maps, Calendar, and Messaging all seem to be the old version. I am running 4.2.2 and the latest version of GAPPS. Any help would be appreciated, thank you!

I guess I'm not explaining it well. The apps are similar to the versions I had on my Galaxy Nexus, not the S3.

Which GAPPS version did you download and install? HERE is a newer GAPPS (6/15) that I've been using with CM10.1, you may want to give it a try.
My apps currently look like the ones from the Nexus on the right and they used to look like the icons on the left....

That explains it...Before on the left you were on Samsung's touchwiz on 4.1.2 using samsung apps. Now you are on an AOSP 4.2.2 rom using aosp apps. The apps are similar but different and have different icons. The 4.2.2 AOSP rom is going to look like the Nexus.

You'd have to go back to a TW based ROM.
Shoot...was hoping I could have both. At least I know what the issue is!

Keep in mind that other launchers and themes allow you to change the look of the icons as well.
I tried the TW theme but I'm still missing the actual app performance/construction. From what I read, I'm one of few who actually like those better!
