Hi,
Is there anyway to disable "under the hood" power widgets buttons (the ones in the notification drawer) ?
In previous builds of CM9, I had the flashlight button selected in the power widget settings, even if the flashlight was not working. I was keeping it in case the flashlight gets fixed. Now, in more recent builds, the flashlight button is grayed out, so we cannot enable/disable it. However mine is checked and I would like to disable it, but I can't. Is it possible to disable the button in a configuration file somewhere ? Or is there a way to wipe power widget settings ? I checked with Titanium Backup to wipe data, but couldn't find data specific to the power widget and I would like to avoid wiping all my system data.
Thanks,
Neo.

I used to have Widget Locker before I started rooting and using custom ROMs on my EVO 4G, and it worked very well.
I have tried CM7 and Gingerbread-EVO-Deck(1.2), and both have issues with Widget Locker. This first is that not all widgets function properly. I can deal with that and make adjustments. The second, however, is that the "native" unlock screen stays active, so that I actually have to unlock and then unlock again to access the phone. Any ideas for fixes? Or is this just an incompatability with AOSP Gingerbread ROMs?

Ok, here's where it gets tricky, but not so much.
I found a way to make the WidgetLocker lockscreen completely replace the stock lockscreen and to make the volume keys work without waking the phone.
A little background info: The stock lockscreen is what prevents the volume buttons from turning on the screen (ie when you're highering/lowering volume of music with the screen off). Once you disable the stock lockscreen, using the volume keys will turn on the screen. Here's how to fix everything:
1. Disable the stock lockscreen in CyanogenMod/Advanced Settings -> Tablet Tweaks -> Disable lockscreen.
2. In WidgetLocker settings, go into, I believe the Behavior menu, and check the Allow Volume Control (or whatever it's called).
3. Download ButtonRemapper. Open it up and find Volume Up and Volume Down. It'll say "W" next to them. Change it to NONE. Hit apply, your phone will Hot Reboot. Even if you decide to stop using WidgetLocker and use the stock lockscreen instead, you shouldn't need to change these back since the stock lockscreen disables volume button waking anyway.
4. Enable Root Helper in WidgetLocker settings so that there isn't a delay when turning the screen on and off.
The only "issue" is that when you first turn on/reboot the phone, you'll hit the homescreen, since the homescreen is disabled and WidgetLocker starts up after the phone turns on. But that's it. After that, everything works perfectly.

Which widgets aren't behaving properly? There are some settings in WidgetLocker to disable the "Dragging Disabled" tooltip and to adjust widget space and disable widget interaction, etc. Just look through; it took me a while to notice.

Thanks a bunch, I'll try those sugggestions out.
Tried disabling the lock screen, seemed to work. The only trouble with this solution is that disabling the lock screen also disables the security (passcode/password).
Thanks again.

There's definitely a way to use a password, although I don't know if it requires disabling the lockscreen. It's in the WidgetLocker FAQ.

Cool, I found it.
With non-Sense, the WidgetLocker will hit the second unlock screen if you use a password/passcode. It will work with an unlock pattern, however.
In my case, this doesn't really help, as my work e-mail requires a password/passcode, and does not allow patterns.
Thanks, again.
Hello all! There's a cool feature called springflash in iPhone that consists on double tapping the lock button and the flashlight turns automatically on, if you doubletap again flashlight goes off
I love this feature and have been searching for a similar thing or a "gesture maker" to turn flashlight on (or unless open the torch app)
can someone tell me any app they know either to do this or to enable small gestures to open apps like torch or directly turn on the flashlight? thanks in advance
I'm using last miui rom so the option of using the search button as a launcher of the app torch is not possible!
for the miui rom i believe if i remember correctly all you have to do is hold the home button and the torch will turn on for you. i was on the miui rom just about 2 days ago and did work. if not there are other apps that you can use as widgets and they automatically turn on the torch for you

I'm using MIUI ROM and holding down Home brings up "Recent Apps" screen, just like CM7.
On cm7 you can change what long press on home does, under cm settings
Sent from my MB525 using XDA App
I thinks this is possible ONLY in custom ROM, Android System does not permit to any user's app to override Home or Power button,
bye,

You may have luck with the app called "Tasker" - Check it out
With CM7 you can define lockscreen gestures which can be used to toggle the flashlight.
I have setup a very simple gesture (looks like an upside down "L") for that. That makes the flashlight very accessible, though i does not engage accidently.
I used the built in powermanagement widget for the notification area to toggle the flashlight before i found that solution and this is a lot less of a hassle as i dont have to unlock the phone or pull down the notification area.
thanks for the replies! the torch thing of miui works sometimes but other times you mantain home button and it just flash 1 sec and goes off
If I can't find any solution and the problem of miui isn't solved I will go back to the cm7 and notification bar flashlight which is quite cool

well for me it specifically said once i opened the torch app that came with it miui a message came up and said i no longer needed to open the app just to long press the home and the torch would light and indeed it did light
Is there an app that will add turn wifi on/off option to the menu, with power down, airplane mode and silent mode, that shows up when you press the powerbutton?
It sounds like you need to be rooted. Then you can add almost anything to anything. OR search a power wiget on the market.
i dont think apps will be able to edit this dialog. you'll need to find a custom rom which implemented this feature (or ask a cook to do so..)
:'( that sucks should be an apparently to change them to whatever you want :-D
With something like Notification Toggle you could add it to your expanded notification bar if you don't want a widget on your homes screen.
I wanted to assign the camera shutter button to wake up the phone. I've used other lockscreen apps like Go Locker, Live Screen, and Magic Locker and they all allow the volume rocker to wake the screen, but not the camera button. I then tried the app "buttonremapper" or something like that that I found on xda. It didn't work.
I found this folder:
/system/usr/keylayout/
with the files:
AVRCP.kl
cpcap-key.kl
edison-keypad.kl
evfwd.kl
omap-keypad.kl
qwerty.kl
usb_keyboard_102_en_us.kl
Everywhere I saw:
212 Camera
(all but the first two files)
I changed it to:
212 Camera WAKE_DROPPED
(and added this to cpcap-key.kl)
It worked...but not always. Every now and then, it would not wake up with the camera button (especially if I hadn't had the screen on in a while). Any ideas? Is this a foolish endeavor?
Also, the Search button sometimes does not bring up the search function (long-pressing doesn't bring the voice search) right after unlocking the screen. The haptic still works, but the search doesn't pop up. The ability returns if I press the home button first. The same goes for the camera hardware button not opening the camera app but working after I press home first. This was happening even before my modifications and only intermittently.
My mod is not at all important, but I'm curious why it doesn't work all the time. I'm not sure if it's related to my buttons not working regularly, but I suspect it does.
I am using Go Launcher and tried a variety of lockscreen apps. I just did a factory reset last night to see if it fixed it, but it didn't. I reloaded a minimal amount of apps. I am using the stock camera at this point (I didn't reload camera zoom fx--but it had the same issue before the factory reset anyway). Could this be related to an app or is there something deeper at fault? I doubt it's a hardware defect since it is corrected by touching the home button.
If you think you have an idea but need more info, let me know. I appreciate any suggestions!
My power button is damaged and I have requested a replacement of the back cover (hopefully can fix it). Till that time, Is it possible to wake up my phone using the volume (up or down key) instead of power button?
Also, recently, I am missing a few app icons from the app drawer (sound hound, tune radio etc), however, they are showing under Settings --> Apps --> All apps. I tried removing these apps using sdMaid (however) these apps showed up again (without icons).
Please advise.

Thanks, i got a good cover for the phone, power button is much responsive. But, I am not sure what is going wrong with missing app icons (however, app still present in phone). I am trying to remove some bloatware.
