My build is .21 and it's not showing an OTA update.
Any help? Please and thanks!
I'm having the same problem. Mine came with .21, and never found the .22 OTA. I manually did it, but its also not seeing the new .26 update.
I'd just do it manually again, but I want to see if I ever get it because I want to unlock the bootloader in a month or two after I'm sure I dont need the warranty. I've heard of people not being able to unlock, and am a bit worried it may be related to not getting OTAs. Really hope its just a staggered rollout.
How do I manually install the update?
So the unlock bootloader doesn't work. I install it, accept all of the agreements, and it says there is a network error and idk what to do.I'm getting very frustrated..
I'm not getting the OTA update either, and I'm still on .21. I really don't want to do it manually, because that'll require me buying an sd card and sd card adaptor for my laptop, which I don't want to do. Why won't my infinity do the OTA update? I tried cold booting it, but it's still not working.
Have you tried going to settings/about tablet/update?

Of course. It says that there is no update available.
It seems that there are several reasons that may be the cause of this:
1) ASUS putting out the updates in a staggered fashion -- i.e., some regions get the update already, others will have to wait; and
2) The device's serial number has not been registered into ASUS' OTA database. This is NOT something you can do something about, since it is a different database than the one you would register your device in regarding warranty.
Reason 1 would solve itself by having patience, while reason 2 is terminal (i.e., you're screwed unless you send it in to ASUS and get the issue addressed under warranty).
All this has been mentioned before several times on the forum. Please, please, please (learn how to) use the search function, and read about a bit. It keeps us from having to reply in identicals time and again.
Thank you.

Hi all,
I received my Thunderbolt today from Wirefly and one of the things it's offering me is an OTA update dated today.
Has anyone experienced any rooting issues with this update? So far, my phone is stock, and it would be easy for me to apply the update. But, if it's going to be an issue with rooting it then I'd rather hold off.
Thoughts?
Robert
Its probably the MR1 update the phone got a little bit ago. When they send phones out, they come with the factory firmware (meaning not updated). If you root your phone, then return to stock, your phone won't be on the latest firmware anymore.
What I'm trying to say is it's probably not a new update.
The info on the update is:
Mecha_VERIZON_WWE_1.13.605.7-1.12.605.6
Does that help figuring out which one it is? If it is the MR1 is it OK to update without causing issues for rooting?

Go to the root tutorial sticky in the development section and compare them. If it is the Mr1 then rooting will not be a problem.

Im pretty sure its fine... we have that update already anyways so if you just have them ship you the phone when you root it you'll end up with the update. Rooting on this phone requires a downgrade first so I would just have them ship you the phone then you can update when you root.

So I went and checked that does appear to be the OTA update number. I already have the phone. Sounds like it really doesn't matter whether I update now and then root, or vice versa.
I wouldn't update it if your planning root, its the update that has been causing reboots, so I would just not update, root your phone and do whatever mine was never updated and it works great.

I just got my Thunderbolt today, I got the same message about an update, I went ahead with it, thought it was GB Anywho, just finished jcase's PermRoot all is good, so you should have no problems.
So I chose "reject" the last time I was offered the OTA. Does that mean it's going to embargo that update going forward?

If you decide you changed your mind, you can always go to Settings ->Software Update -> Check new, and it will prompt you again.
Like somebody else said, though, if you are planning on rooting, there is no need to do the OTA beforehand. You will end up with a rooted version of the OTA update at the end of the rooting process, anyway (assuming you follow jcase's instructions...which you should).
If you accept the update is there a way to remove it?

Only by rooting and flashing a new ROM.
Thanks, Robertus
OK - so I am yet another one who just got the Infinity TF700 and cannot receive any OTA updates and receive the infamous 'network issue' error message when trying to use the unlocker apk. Question - are there any developers (or other talented people) who would be able to figure out what the unlocker does so that we can get a manual unlock like we have to do for the manual updates? Probably a stupid question - if it was possible, it probably would have already been done by someone. Just a thought.
Welcome to the team of locked devices screwed up by Asus. No solutions provided by Asus, too complex to develop a soft to unlock (encrypton). To summarize almost no chance to unlock your device.
I have the same problem. No OTA and no Unlock. I have make the Update to .26 manually but i can not manually unlock.
Yeah, after doing some further research, it's not just the Infinity. The same problem occurs with all Asus tablets - some can unlock, some can't, and there doesn't seem to be any solution. Sucks big time cause other than a tiny bit of light bleeding, this thing is fabulous after manually updating to the .26 version.

Same issue has been on the Prime as well, as tmaurice pointed out, and while a lot of people have tried, all have failed thus far due to the encryption level used. I think there is a straight 0% chance of any development to a third-party unlocker, sorry. And it sucks, I know. Returning it might be the only option.
So the best thing to do if i can't unlock the bootloader is to just return it and get a new one and hope that it can unlock? Without being able to unlock i cannot flash a new rom, kernel or anything, correct?

Yes, and yes. I'd keep returning until you get an unlockable unit -- if you really want to have OTA. And no, you can't do anything minorly advanced whn your unit is locked (no ROMs. no kernels, no recoveries).
I have now my second Infinity and the same problem. I can not unlock .

I see a lot of different people doing 2 or 3 RMAs and still having the same problem as a lot of us. Samsung has to be aware of the issue by now. Not sure if they're just ignoring it or don't know how to fix it. If you dig around their website you can find quite a few 404 errors and dead links as well. I think they have some serious problems with their servers.
Is there anyway to tell if I can unlock my bootloader without going throught the process? At which point does it show the error when you try to unlock? Anyone know?

Not really, but a positive sign would be if you were able to receive OTA. Mostly if you have issues with OTA updates you could also have with bootloader unlock... but still no way to be sure without using tha unlock tool.
EDIT: I've just unlocked mine 5 minutes ago without any issue. My tabled come from the batch C6OKASxxxxx and didn't had the OTA update issue either.

Has anyone with a non-C6O S/N been able to unlock? I'm wondering if the unlock is only working on the C6Oxxxxxxx serial numbers for some reason (mine is a C6Oxxxxxx and I was able to unlock without issue).

My S/N is the C6O series and will not OTA or unlock. There are several others in the C6O series that are also unable to lock. At first we thought it might be the 'O' being read as a 'zero' by the Asus servers (maybe they had it wrong in their database), but a couple of people switched their serial numbers between the numeric and the letter for the third digit, but neither solved the issue. It's definitely something either with Asus' servers or their database of serial numbers. Someone in the Prime forum pulled apart what happens when you click the app, and the first thing it does is reach out for confirmation from Asus - and more than half of us with valid serial numbers are getting an immediate bounceback with the network error. Kinda frustrating. At the moment I'm OK with it since we can still root and manually apply the latest updates, but at some point more development is going to happen on these units and I'd love to flash away like I have with all my other devices.

That's not a solution though, it still wont let him unlock.
Before I exchanged mine, it was C60 and would not unlock.
Here we go again. Just when I think I finally got an ASUS tablet without issues. I went through 3 primes but OTA updates was not a problem. I had to manually update my Infinity to both .22 and .26 firmwares. It is an easy process so I wasn't that concerned. I haven't attempted to unlock yet. Is there anyone who didn't get the OTA updates but was able to unlock or do both situations always happen together?

Hello!
I have recieved the Android 4.0.4 OTA update but am unable to install it. I had unlocked my bootloader but havent installed any ROM, and tried to do the OTA update, the phone shut down and booted up to the fastboot menu.. i relocked my phone and tried again, same result.. I called HTC and they had no idea, they got me to turn off the fast boot in the power settings, but that didnt work!
What do I need to do to get the OTA update to work?
Based on your avatar, you are in Australia? Not sure what the firmware changes are for your region. But in the US, the latest 4.0.4 firmware also changes hboot, and plugs the holes by which kernels and radios can be flashed from recovery. In other words, not being able to install the OTA may be a good thing. It might be better to install one of the rooted stock ROMs in the Development forum.
Can't say for certain, since my US carrier (AT&T) does things so much differently than anyone else. So hopefully some folks in your region can chime in.

Hey thanks for the response.
Yeah I am in Australia, but I would like to get OTA Updates until Im comfortable with properly putting new ROMs onto my phone..
My service provider (Optus) took it's sweet time to release this update and their only solution is to take it into their shop to get it repaired/looked at..
If you are rooted, you may need to unroot.
You may also want to try finding the OTA file on the SD card and deleting it, and trying to download it again.

Yeah, Ive unrooted it.. I relocked the phone and ran the stock RUU for it.. but after a day I haven't received the OTA notification.. so I might have to wait a while for that to come back I guess..
I have a rooted, unlocked SG3 running stock ROM and as of a couple weeks ago, continue to get prompted to install the OTA update (VRAGL7 I believe). Unsurprisingly the install fails when I try to apply it.
My question is, do I have to restore in order to apply this update? And if so, is it possible to instead defer the update indefinitely (since I dont want to restore and there doesnt appear to be anything useful in this update according to their site).
Im also sure someone else must have asked this before, but after browsing the last few pages and searching, I couldnt find anything. Feel free to direct me to a previous response if I missed it.
Thanks in advance!
This has been covered numerous times, but, here you go. If you want to take the update, lock your bootloader, Odin back to stock, take the OTA update, reroot, unlock, etc.
If you don't want to do that, freeze SDM 1.0 with Titanium and the message will stop. One thing though, you will not be able to update OTA until you restore SDM. Which, you shouldn't be updating a rooted phone to begin with unless you want a world of problems.
Good luck!

So to be clear, absolutely no way to apply the update without going back to stock first, correct?
Sorry for posting up whats probably been asked 100 times, but really couldnt track it down with a search and browse of the last few pages.

I did not have to do all that...
I used Mobile Odin Pro to Pre-Inject Root into the OTA Update before flashing it, then I flashed the latest modem immediately after flashing the OTA update.
I didn't lose Root or Unlocked Bootloader status..
Best part of it was... I didn't need my PC to do any of it...

Make sure that you read it and pay attention very carefully. I tried to do the same exact thing and had problems. Had to Odin back to stock. I think my problem was that I was running a custom kernel. Anyway I got the unauthorized software message and could only get into stock recovery and download mode.
Guess I will read the thread myself and see where I screwed up at.

one more thing. will i lose all my data from that method?
p.s.
mark my words, if it were my phone, i would know how to update this phone easily. but it's my brothers haha.
It shouldn't wipe any data but make backups just in case. If it's your brother's phone then he should be doing the work, I don't assist when the person who owns the phone isn't willing to do the learning and the work.
