Hey all!
Have finally rooted my Desire and installed Ginger Villain on it.
Have played about quite a bit, and searched the forum but there are 2 things I cannot seem to work out with it.
Ok... 1 is that when connecting headphones with a Mic, (the only ones I have tried are the Monster Dre Dre Beats Control talk)... i can hear people but the volume / answer controls dont work and neither does the mic. When rolled back to the standard 2.2 rom on my desire, all works fine (the icon shows a headset with mic, etc and all controls work).
Also.. does anyone know if there are any plans to include a good full page calender widget? The Sense 2.2 one is awesome, showing a full day's agenda etc, but the smooth calendar, when installed doesnt give the widget option on the GV rom, but does on the 2.2 stock?
Currently running GINGERVillain 0.8.
Thanks!
Kev

My gingerbread build is also bullet proof. Very nice rom. It is based on the Saga port which is an official build mate! I used it and all is well with the battery. I like the Super Ace the best as that is my daily driver.
Cheers,
Shokouhi
Great , Downloaded that will be flashing it in a while, will report soon

Mr.Shokouhi very very thanks because of your smooth, fast, stable rom.
Your rom is perfect BUT dont support arabic rtl :-(.
I am waiting for a good arabize ;-)
Loving this ROM seems absolutely perfect, rock solid stability and pretty good battery life aswell. Cant wait for 4.0
Ricey
Love your ROM
Hi Shokouhi,
Your ROM is great, but I got some issues dunno whether you can guide me a bit:
DSP Manager --> how to have the "Stage" virtual room effect? I was not able to turn it on with all of my music players, e.g. HTC music, Winamp, PowerAMP, etc.
HTC Music + Gallery --> when I playing Music, if I open Gallery, sound stop working? Notice that also if switch sound effect between DOLBY/SRS/EQ someitme cause music sound mute too.
1.72 base sound (better sound quality) --> Can I have this sound as a patch without affecting current 1.84 base phone ring and in-call volume?
As I post this I am looking into 4.0. Sorry you guys never got 1-3 they were hosted else where. I will be themeing a bit more. There will be some new skins to go with the rom and Looking into some kernel options. Although this one is bullet proof. Do you guys know if there is a 2.0ghz kernel out there? Looking into languages.
Shokouhi
Hey guys-
I'm getting kind of fed up with the performance/stability of my phone on stock, and I'm tired of waiting for the official 2.2 upgrade. So I'd like to venture into the world of Froyo ROMs.
I've watched reverendkjr's videos and feel comfortable doing this, but I don't really know which one to pick. I know there's Dexter's and khalpowers, and I guess a third MIUI one now, but ultimately I just want the best performance and stability possible. Also, its my understanding the khalpowers ones come with non-default skins on the ui- is there a way to change the skin to default android or to another skin? What else differentiates the ROMs from each other?
Sorry if this has been discussed before- I searched for a while on the forum and couldn't really find anything.
Try this: http://www.multiupload.com/BUDRPCK8EO StealBlueEpic Optimized. Excellent preformance. I'm with StealBlueEpic and I did optimized it myself and I'm pretty sure this will work the same way. As for the theme... yes! You can change your themes true updating'em true Open Recovery or Theme installer from Nandroidiani. I'm personaly using http://www.mediafire.com/?rx0f4443571d05d DarkFroyoRemix from 3rdstring and it just looks Awesome!

Most of the "guts" of the ROMs are very similar now (except the MIUI which I think is pretty different). If you prefer a stock-flavored ROM, you can try Dexter's 1.3 with the bugfix v3 patch. I think Khal's are the most updated at the moment--there are some things he's tried that I'm still evaluating before adding them to bugfix v4.
Thanks, guys. On Dext3r's now and LOVING it- faster, more stable, everything I was looking for!

Nope. None of the ROMs based on Dexter's 2.2.1 have working gallery button. You can long press the camera shutter to open the camera, though. The FM Radio volume also doesn't work (but fwals has a modified FMRadio.apk so that you can change the radio volume from within the FMRadio app). I don't know about the status of the gallery button or FM radio support in MIUI.

Details please! Are you using fwals' FMRadio.apk or the FM radio volume works everywhere (lockscreen etc)?
How to find out whether it is fwals Radio?
I am using dexter's 1.3 and 3rdstrings "orange" dark froyo theme.
I will try it out later with lockscreen etc as I have no ear-phones on me right now.
Also there is rusmod for russian speaking users.
It also using everything that we can found/change.
The volume button only works within the FM app.
Doesn't work on lock-screen or elsewhere.

I'm pretty sure that would be fwals radio.
Okay, so i just updated to Gingerbread from Froyo using the LG Updater on their site. They said i would loose everything but i didnt, everything was the same.
Thing is, im using it now and im not liking it. Yes, it has all of the features from Froyo G2X but its ugly. The style is bad, the music player buttons are boxes unlike Froyo when its actually buttons, the menu button on the Lancher (app drawer, phone, browser) looks way more better than Gingerbread
I think im going to try to root and find a way to downgrade it back to Froyo, Gingerbread is really not worth having as for style. As for now, im waiting for SuperOneClick to fix for Windows 7 and i will root again.
But... tell me what you think... is it work it? And why?
i agree with u also..i too, also want to downgrade back to froyo :/ if anyone knows how, please lmk
Nvflash clockworkmod. Boot to recovery, and restore the stock nandroid. Problem solved.
GB seems like a downgrade. Where's the benefit?
GB smaller fonts are really unacceptable.
Awesome, im not alone i guess. Probably ganna do it when i have time, cant keep this Gingerbread.
I even noticed the pattern lock screen is worse in GB than Froyo

"- Orginal Gingerbread Camera Restores orginal gingerbread camera from ota if you installed flako's froyo camera"
it says that it restores it back to GB camera
And i repeat. The froyo camera is at the bottom of xboarder's FIRST post. The name of the flashable zip file is LGCamV1.2.1.zip
It's working, but still not as good as the original froyo one. that's why I'm still rocking with a froyo rom.
One click worked for me. I had agps and sporatic data issues with gb. So far froyo is working just as it did... honestly their update to gb is not a true update otherwise it would all function including the green solid connection icons. Oh well... :/

Wow... really wish i can get all of Gingerbreads features into Froyo, or atleast get back Froyos design, that would be nice.
I still havent found one person who posted ROOT for G2X Gingerbread or most new phones running on Gingerbread, i really hope that does not mean im stuck without ROOT
Totally worth it. I updated it last Nite and everything is a positive to me longer battery life, works faster and I like to black notification bar

Hey everyone. I've been working on this ROM for months. I'm not a big fan of Sense 3.6. A lot has changed since 3.0. Some features I'm extremely pleased with but not so much with others. So I came up with a ROM called Sense Mix. It's based on RUU 3.33.401.53.
Removed:
All apps attainable from the Market except for Facebook (used by Friendstream), Maps, Street, Soundhound and YouTube (used by me)
Other apps I find useless (STK, HTC Facebookchat, possibly others I cannot recall)
Old Google Search and Voice (replaced with GNow)
HTC Sense Launcher and Widgets (I dislike them)
'Recent Apps' in status bar
Lockscreen shortcuts (cannot be set because Rosie is removed)
Features:
Adfree hosts file
Galaxy S3 Launcher
Google Now
UI rendering improvments
Supercharged services.jar
Sense 4.0 Theme
Sense 4.0 Sounds
Sense 4.0 Wallpapers
Sense 4.0 styled Keyboard
Sense 4.0 styled MMS app
SONY Playstation Certification (Playstation Mobile app available at SONY's website)
SONY BRAVIA Engine
SONY xLoud
SONY Xperia Widgets and Fonts
SONY Walkman (Music app with many plugins)
SONY Albums (Gallery app)
Notes:
The ROM itself is T-Mobile USA optimized. If you are a T-Mobile user, you can flash Wi-Fi Calling. If you are are a Sensation XE or Sensation Z710e user, you can flash a patch to change the device name.
Sense 4.0 theme: I took SadeSkin 2.0 and fixed many errors I found with the images. I have also made the lock screen's navigation bar invisible. If you select a different skin, it will reappear.
SuperSU - I have not included SuperSU because it is in the Market AND because root apps are automatically granted acces (I don't know how I did that). There is a 'su' binary in the ROM so if you want control over what apps are granted root, download ONLY the SuperSU app. The binary is built into the ROM.
I've been working on this ROM for months. I know exactly how I want it to be but nevertheless, suggestions are welcome
Adobe Flash Player must be updated but it is not displayed in the Market. Bypass the issue by clicking here from your phone.
MOST IMORTANTLY: I am a chef, not a developer. There are system apps I want to modify since some system options are no longer relevant; for example, the Personlize app no longer needs 'Lock screen shortcuts', 'Scene', 'Add to home'. If anyone can modify the apps to how I want them, please PM me. It'll make this ROM more complete.

One suggestion, use aroma to provide users ability to choose app they want to remove, it is much better than u delete it by yourself

Which camera is in this ROM? Sense 3.6 or 4.0?
And does it have Sense low storage wizard?
how about battery life? any bencmark please?
Where did you acquire the Galaxy S3 Touchwiz launcher?
Steve's Elegencia ROM has option to use S3 launcher in aroma.
From Galaxy S3?
Nice ROM, but i dont really think xLoud is working, because there's no difference on its loudness compared to xLoudless ROMs.
xLoud effect is clearly visible on viperS rom.
this rom looks good, but anything more special which makes this rom different from others?
