Wanted: Radio For Stock ICS Firmware...(LOOK) - AT&T Samsung Galaxy S II Skyrocket SGH-I727

Ok....i have a Skyrocket that i got that was already ROOTED. But i didnt like the launcher....so i used the Odin and put the Original non root firmware on it then factory reseted the phone. Now im on a stock ICS 4.0.4.
NOW...the phone is unlocked and im using it with T Mobile. But im only getting a Edge "E" signal....which is slow as sh**. My question is....(May be a dumb question but worth asking)....can i keep this Stock Firmware and flash some kind of Radio over it to get 3G/4G? Or do i have to flash a custom ROM to get that? Love the phone...hate the edge tho. By the way....i have the SGH- I727

first check your apn settings.
you have to flash a custom recovery first, then root it so you can flash a different radio, third link in my sig, you can flash any ics radio, there in my first link in my sig.
check your apn settings

Im gonna check both of those out. But to be clear....after i install CWM....then ROOT...ill still have my Stock firmware on the phone after that right? I did yesterday. Then from there what? Clear cache and flash the Blaze Mod Radio on top of the stock 4.0.4 firmware? Is that possible? Thats what i really wanted to know. I did that last night and got my signal all messed you. But i used the Blaze Radio without the "Mod". Which they said was the wrong one.
Main thing is....i wanna keep the same stock firmware i have now....but just add the Blaze Mode Radio to it. Thats what i wanted to know.

yes, installing the recovery and rooting is still stock ics, you wont see any changes when your phone boots up, but its not true stock for warranty purposes because of the custom recovery

Help?

Hey guys. I got a second hand Nexus S today and it came rooted, with a custom rom of ICS installed. It's called Neopolitan or something like that.
I'm wondering how I can probably keep it rooted, but go to a normal stock version of ICS on my Nexus S (So I can install updates straight to the device, etc.)
Thanks
(U.K Version)
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1398186 flash it
Go into recovery and flash? Will this brick my phone or anything as I'm on a custom ROM?
And will this un-root it etc.?
And def. for the U.K version?

No it won't brick the phone. If you see the unlock logo at the bottom when you boot your phone up and the google logo comes up you're OK. That means your boot loaders unlocked. It might unroot it depending on the root the guy used. You'll be OK for the UK version. If its GSM you'll be fine. Just make sure the phone model number matches the stock one. I9020A stock as of now is 2.3.6

No worries. Did it and all seems fine. Thank you to both of you!

My phone wont pull down the OTA after loading the stock image.

I used this http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1755386 and now it wont update to the newest OTA. I locked the bootloader, reset the flash counter, reloaded the stock image and nothing seems to work. I need to send this phone back to Verizon.
Edit: **** it, I just flashed the newest Odin OTA, http://goo.im/devs/invisiblek/i535/...535VZWALG1_743127_REV09_user_low_ship.tar.zip
I doubt Verizon techs will know any better.
When did this ota role out wonder what it is???

[Q] Anyway to go back to stock on SGH-T959W

I am thinking of rooting and installing the cyanogen mod but before I do that, I want to make sure that I can go back to stock if I need do. I have been looking around the wiki and the forums but I couldn't find anything on going back to stock on the SGH-T959W. Can I just use the method which is shown for the T959V?
Stop.
You do not want to flash these roms. Search this forum for your model there have been a lot of bricks and discussions on your model.

I see that I should not flash bootloaders which I already know not to do. I also see that the T959V is the same as the T959W (except for the difference in preinstalled apps and also the fact that one is Verizon and the other is wind) which is why I was wondering if the going back to stock tut will work for this model.
Ok. I wanted to avoid disaster. The one click should bring you back to stock. Just be careful with everything

T959V is t-mobile, T959W is wind. There is also T959P which is telus, and supposedly there is a T959N, but no one has come forward on that one. The telus phone is very different from T959V and T959W.

getochkn is working on getting the OTA update from wind and should be getting it soon.
I'm also working with him to extract the bootloader files from his phone so we can get a back to stock oneclick like we do for T959V.
I hope that helps.
Ahh thank you!!

Yes, as of now, there is no way to go 100% back to Wind stock. You can go back to T959V stock, which for all intensive purposes is the same, +/- a few stupid bloatware installed apps, but nothing that serious. The 2 things are the bootloader, which I am trying to get from Wind, will not much success but I keep emailing and calling and hopefully someone sooner or later will get sick and tired of me and give it up. The second, is the modem, which LB6 (I think) that only appeared on our Wind phones. The T-Mobile KD4-KJ1, etc modems all work fine, so it's not an issue, but I have a second SGS4G that is stock, that when I am ready to upgrade that one, bhundven is going to help me preserve and extract the modem, so we will have the modem, so a one-click back to stock with our modem replaced in it would get you 99% stock, again the only diff being the pre-bundled app's. I only used 1 click to root+cwm mine as you have to flash again and click bootloader to actually flash that, so if you don't do that, you can then explore any of the ROM in this section only on your phone.
You seemed to have done your reading, asked your questions in a good manner, so keep it up and ask or even PM me if/when you're ready and I will help you. Sadly some people don't read and jump in and end up with a bricked phone and it's hard to want to help someone who just randomly flashes stuff to a $400 phone because they watch a youtube video.
Do you research and reading, asking polite, informative questions and you will get help.
............Now on to read the thread of the guy with the T959W phone, showing a picture of it, with the tmobile logo, meaning he flashed the bootloaders and he's stuck in a loop. lol. There is someone who didn't read, jumped in, and may have a bricked phone. We can replace stock apps, I will have the Wind modem soon, but unless Wind gives me the kies tar, we will never have the bootloader.

Thanks for your help! I'll think I will wait till you get the bootloader. Don't wanna do anything major with the phone in case something goes wrong and then I can't go back to stock (when something goes wrong I mean like hardware wise where I would need to get it sent in for repair and then wind will see that it is rooted and modified). But I can wait. I have another tablet that I can play around with in the mean time.
Thanks again!

Yes, I have dumped the wind params and have flashed it without problems. Upon extracting the jpgs from it, there is 1 additional jpg in my params, the Wind one we get. The weird thing is when I flashed the "V" params though, I got no boot logo as the ofsets are different.
Brian and I are trying to put together a package to get it going. I have a stock Wind phone as well still that I am going to dump the GB ROM we get instead, with our default apps, etc, so hopefully in a few days, we should have a FULL restore to stock for Wind people. Having troubles with the modem not flashing though through Heimdall. Can flash one in CWM no prob but that doesn't solve the problem of using a 1-click stock to go back to stock without root, etc.
still searching for stock rom

ARe you sure you have the 959W? I thought the Telus model was the 959P. The W is the UTMS band version of the phone, which Telus doesn't use, so I don't think you have a W.

[Q] Baseband

If I go thru the process and upgrade my baseband to the new one verizon just released, will I still be able to flash any rom I want once I re root the phone again???
You can flash any Verizon GS 3 ROM regardless of the baseband.

Im on a customized rom now. Do you think its best to allow my phone to take the upgrade....go back and re root real quick. and then reflash the old baseband.
Or just flash the new build and reflash the old baseband.
I heard it best to allow your phone to take the OTA from verizon, which if I do I will obviously loose root...

It depends on what you want. The rom does not change the baseband. If you want to stay on the old baseband just flash a new rom. No need to reroot and go through all that unless you just want to.

Questions about flashing 4.4 ROM. Coming from 4.1 Please help!

So like the title says I have been out of the ROM game for a little bit. Every couple of months I check in and see whats new and flash something else.
I was on the Jelly Beans ROM (Build 16 I think) and Android 4.1. I did some searching last night as was going to try flashing Gummy ROM…bad idea. I am guessing I needed something prior to jumping up to a 4.4 base. I booted to recovery and wiped everything and tried to flash with no luck. So the phone would not boot and I could only get into recovery and download mode. I did not have my micro SD adapter in order to get jelly beans back on it to flash so I ended up having to use odin to flash a stock rooted 4.1 image. Finally got everything back up and running but I still want to try some of the 4.4 ROMs. So what exactly do I need first in order to flash one? (Modem maybe)…if you know for sure why that happened and what I need to do please let me know. Thanks!
My Current "About Phone" Info...
Android Version - 4.1.2
Baseband version - I535VRBMB1
Jelly Beans - Build 20
P.S. I have tried doing the research and nothing I have found has been clear but one thing I came across is the official 4.3 update was bad news and broke the root methods? So should I stay away from 4.3 ROMs and is the old root method blocked in 4.4 as well or is that a different case since it wasn't actually released for our phone. If that makes sense lol

Can't tell you exactly why that happened, but it shouldve worked.
You're right though, stay away from the stock Ota 4.3 update. I'm happy you read first because so many people don't. My guess is your firmware was a little too old. Try to flash the mf1 firmware aio and then try gummy.
To be clear, you can still use any custom rom, even the 4.3 ones, just stay away from the stock rom or anything having to do with 4.3 ML1 firmware

Thanks for the quick reply. What do you mean try to flash the MF1 firmware...does that mean a 4.2 ROM?
I think I saw the new jellyBeans/alliance ROM was 4.3...or maybe it was something else..either way it would be ok to flash the 4.3 ROM? and if I wanted I could go back to a 4.1 Rom then..

Yes you can interchange between both of them if you want to.
So go here, read all of the details, and just follow his recommendation:

Also don't double post, modify your post in the development section and put "wrong section, mod please delete".

The reason I have so confused is cause of the link you sent. I read that before and it says..
"You should NOT flash the I535VRUCML1 firmware (or any subsequent releases for that matter). You will brick. This is what vzw/samsung did on the first OTA for the Galaxy S4. They changed the keys they sign the firmware with. This prevents us from 'mis-matching' our firmware like we've been doing all along. We've been leaving aboot (VRUAME6, the african-canadian sock-monkey leaked bootloader) alone and updating everything else. Since they're signing with different keys now, doing this will brick your device. If you update the ENTIRE bootchain (including aboot) you shouldn't brick, but will be stuck with a locked bootloader and any attempt to downgrade (via dd, etc) will brick you as well."
Like i said I have been out for a while and lost track of what firmwares came out and the order of them and which I need to be on to flash a 4.4 ROM. Someone else told me the only reason my first flash failed was because my recovery was older
***EDIT****

I see, that actually makes perfect sense.
I think I read you were on the mb1 firmware, that's new enough to not cause problems.
Basically you can't get the ml1 firmware from that thread I linked you. The only ml1 file available is the modem, and that's perfectly safe to flash.

You're close, firmware is completely independent from rom. You can flash any 4.3, 4.4, or 4.1 rom without changing your firmware.
Right now you can flash mf1 aio package, then ml1 modem, or just flash the ml1 modem over your current mb1 firmware.
Basically you aren't required to be on a specific rom build in order to use a specific modem.
Edit: I think you have the right idea, flash any rom you want, then the mf1 aio package, then the ml1 modem. Your firmware sequence is correct.

Edit: I think you have the right idea, flash any rom you want, then the mf1 aio package, then the ml1 modem. Your firmware sequence is correct.

ah ok...idk why I was thinking the firmware was what the ROMs were based from....so either way ML1 firmware sucks and I stay away...I guess my last questions are...what would be an advantage of going to the MF1 firmware...
and I always used clockworkmod recovery...do you know the option available now? and maybe some features of each
