I've been really intrested in widget locker recently, but i could never make a locker that i like
All the ones on the threads look really cool, but i don't know how to make mine look like that
with minimalistic text, how do you link apps to it so it could be"TEXT" and be linked to messaging?
Any really good tutorials out there.. or do i need a launcher to make areally sick lock/home screen

[Request&Bounty]Lack of Creativity! Set my screens up 4 me!

Sad story.
I've had my EVO for over 3 months now and in that 3 months I have not been able to create one layout of which I had liked and stuck with for more than a week. It's getting old but I just can't seem to decide on something that fits my taste as far as home screens, wallpaper, theme, widgets, and everything else. I couldn't even find a screen in the post your screens thread that was very appealing to me.
So here's my request: Create a layout/theme for me and post the screens and I will donate $5-10 for the first one that I am happy with. Theme, wallpaper, screen layout, widgets(weather, clock, in-car screen, calendar, astrid)
Just make something that looks cool and is functional at the same time. I am running myn's RLS 5 with stock rosie but am open to ADW or LauncherPRO launchers. I use ChompSMS.
Widgets to include:
Clock
Weather
Music
Calendar
Unread Chomp SMS
Unread GMail SMS
Screen dedicated to Car widgets
Multicon?
Other notes:
Throw a theme and font on it from this forum
IF you make this into a flashable zip for me, I will donate $15. If not, just post screen shots.
Thanks I'll be back tonight after work. I look forward to seeing in anyone bites on this. Trust me, I wouldn't be asking people to do this if I had one ounce of creativity but nothing I ever make even looks slighty cool or unique.
download sweeterhome from the market. it has a bunch of layouts bult in.
is this for real ?
if so its sad so very sad
that's the fun thing about android so many way to change things

Scrollable Bookmark Widget (Found)

Hi. I'm looking for a scrollable bookmark widget for a long time (about a year) but I can't find something like that somehow.
I don't understand why there isn't. Is it so hard to make or doesn't Android support that?
Btw, I don't want to use LauncherPro.
-----------
Edit: App's name is Colorize. It's free and you can find in Market by searching ''colorize''.
Thanks to AquaeAtrae and developer
Would love to see a widget like that as well
Upssss!!
I believe Colorize may have a good widget for you. I prefer it's Facebook and Twitter widgets over all others.
I've posted a collection of all scrollable widgets in the Themes forum if you want to see and compare what the various widgets look like...

Visual Bookmarks.
Launcher pro plus has a good one

Thanks a lot. That's what I've been looking for. Great widget. But it needs a new name to be found easily

Agreed. I'm sure it has, like so many Android projects, grown far beyond its initial design. It really has outgrown its name; I only found it because I was searching for EVERY scrollable widget out there. I was quite surprised when I found decent sized thumbnails in its social feed widgets--something I'd been looking for. Glad it worked for ya.

[Q] Transparent Apps

Hi
i have a question which most of you will count as stupid, but i just download the Transparent Launcher app and i fell in love
i can only do 4 widgets with it though, and would like to know if there is a similar free version that gives me unlimited amount of widgets i can create?
searched the internet with nothing interesting popping up
any help would be appreciated
If you want transparent widgets, there's a couple threads with a bajillion of them. Just do a search, or I'll link you to it if I can find it.
EDIT:
This isn't the original thread, but it's fairly organized while the original isn't. I'm sorry if this wasn't what you were looking for - I know it doesn't answer your original question (to be honest, I don't know what you're talking about), but maybe you'll like it.
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=796399
hmm
maybe i wasn't too clear, the app i am interested in is called Transparent Launcher, which takes a normal app icon, makes it into a widget, and controls the transparency of if, i can see some other app's that have similar functions, but aren't very good
looks like im gonna have to pay for an app
Ohhhhh, okay.
You can use Desktop Visualizer, but you'd have to create the transparent icons in photoshop or gimp. I think the quickest method would be just buying the app in this case. Of course, the cheapest way would be doing the icons yourself. But if the app's only a couple of bucks, I'd go ahead and buy it.

[Q] App suggestions for CM7?

I'm looking for some good apps that will improve CM7. Here are the things I'm looking for:
Sense-type dialer (where it makes suggestions based on numbers and letters)
a good clock/weather widget, like the HTC one (I already have Fancy Widgets Pro but that one is kind of ugly)
Other sense-type features
I like CM7, but I still want some Sense-like features...
Any suggestions?
Did you fix the fancy widget so it can look like the HTC clock
Sent from my Desire HD using XDA Premium App
Yeah, I didn't know there were different skins, but I got it so it looks nice now

This isn't what you were asking , but if you like CM7 and you like Sense, you might want to give Ultimate Droid a look over. It's based on CM7 but is a little easier to customize. Don't remember what the dialer looks like.
Now back to CM7: the default dialer will suggest contacts as you type out their name, so I'm not quite sure what you're getting at there. I'm surprised to hear that you can't find a clock/weather widget you like in FWP. The main widget is called Fancy Home and can be themed to look pretty damn close to the HTC widget, flip numbers and all. It also supports the weather effect across the home screen after unlocking, and it has the rain/wiper effect in there somewhere.
One of the things I like about Sense is the thinner icon font. There are themes for CM7/ADW that will give you this look, such as y0rk's Black ADW theme. Makes a big and pleasing difference to the overall look of CM7 IMO. There are also themes to give you some cool things like the circle battery mod, custom status bar, etc. There are custom dock backgrounds for ADW that will give you that curved dock look (either 3 or 5 icons) similar to the Sense dock.
edit: sorry I see you found the FWP skins - disregard

no, but you know the dialer in HTC Sense, where you start typing a number in the dialer, it suggests people based on the numbers you've typed and the letters on those numbers.

Dialer One does that for you. I, however, don't care for the interface much. Just personal preference though.
I just downloaded Dialer One and I'm trying it out now...Is there any way to make it the default dialer?
Any good deskclock apps?

It should automatically prompt if you choose to do something that would use a dialer. If it doesn't automatically prompt you (with the option to make it default) then try going into Settings > Applications > All > Dialer - in dialer see if you can click the Clear Defaults button.
it does, but then when I go to the dialer it's the regular one...I solved the problem by just using Launcher Pro Plus, so my dialer just goes to Dialer One.

How do I theme using Nova Launcher? Are there guides? (coming from iPhone!)

Hello all,
So I am coming from an iPhone. Back on android after 4-5 years. A lot has changed. I saw a lot of beautiful homescreens around and want to replicate those. But none of them have steps/settings/instructions.
I have Nova Launcher Prime installed and I know where to get Icon Packs. Can someone point me at any good resources/tutorials?
Cheers.

You can take a look at mycolorscreen for example. I'm personal using the launcher they published. It's called themer. You can find it on playstore.
You can't really 'theme' Nova Launcher, in that there isn't a button you press to apply themes. Everything is done manually.
You will probably need a combination of widgets, icon packs, and wallpaper to get the theme you want.
Nova Launcher is meant as a replacement launcher that is both simplistic and offering more options at the same time.

If your into themes, there are a lot of theme communities on Google+. Many of the themers including myself have been launching our themes to the Play Store. Mycolorscreen used to be popular, but its slowly dying and the site has been having tons of issues, not maintained from the looks of it. I would look at Google+, deviantart, behance, dribbble, etc. I always post instructions on the Play Store for my themes, it just varies from themer to themer on how detailed they want to be.
As far as apps go, Zooper widget is still popular for widget creation, but the new boy in town has been KLWP and KWGT, pronounced "Kustom Wallpaper" and "Kustom Widget". KLWP is a live wallpaper editor, essentially its a full theme creator with built in "one click" apply/backup. It allows for animations, formulas, touch input and much much more. The best part is that its a live wallpaper with low battery consumption that makes it super easy to setup themes without going through so much hassle of setting up everything. When it comes to theming nothing compares to KLWP out there right now. KWGT is KLWP's little brother which is focused on just widget creation but without the animation support since its not based on screens.
Nova is still the king of launchers in the enthusist area, since it sticks close to Googles design language but with tons of cool features.
I would say, go to the Play Store and find a themer's profile like mine or someone else, and click on one of their themes, and the Play Store will show similar apps on the Play Store which will give you a way to see themes similar to the one your selected. Zooper widget packs normally have zooper in the title of Play Store themes, same with KLWP and KWGT. So you can easily find themes by searching by those keywords. Google+....just search and you will find tons of people posting themes, tons of communities with FAQ and tutorial sections, so much help from other users and developers on there that its worth checking out.
Go to settings. Search themes. It will take you to a Samsung store with free themes. You can get many themes there thag will change settings... Keyboard... Messaging... Etc.. I personally like the material dark theme. You can search within the Samsung store.

Most of the teeming is done with widgets. The popular ones are UCCW and Zooper from the Play store. Once you have those installed you can search "zooper widget" or "uccw widget" and you will see different widgets for those apps.
There is a general Android Theme section on xda. There you will find all kinds of widgets and icons that aren't on the store. You can also browse other people's creations.

If you're into theme or fancy homescreen, try Buzz Launcher

KWLP takes some getting used to but there are plenty of tutorials to get you started.
Check out google+ communities. There are loads there specifically for themes, icons and widgets.

I was too at first. Watch some tuts on Youtube, its the best theming thing around right now. No point in using anything else really.
Try these tuts by Brandon Craft, great place to start. Gosh, I didn't have any video tuts when I got started, it was hard to learn:
