Huge thanks to Peoplearmy for providing me with the knowledge on how to do this.
This guide is intended for those who:
Lost their IMEI and did not back it up
OR
Lost their IMEI, which now reads "0" (one zero)
Operating system needed: WINDOWS
If you are running OSX or Linux you can emulate Windows by using Parallels (OSX) or Virtualbox (Linux)
Things you need:
QPST_2.7_378
Rooted stock ROM (Root66 preferred)
======================START======================
Download QPST from the link above
Write down your IMEI (you can find it on the back of the phone behind the battery)
Turn on your phone
Open the keypad and dial *#22745927
Enable hidden menu
Go back to the keypad and dial *#7284#
Click Qualcomm USB Settings
Select RMNET + DM + MODEM and click ok
On your computer, open up Device Manager
Locate Ports (COM & LPT) and expand it
You should see the following:
{
"lightbox_close": "Close",
"lightbox_next": "Next",
"lightbox_previous": "Previous",
"lightbox_error": "The requested content cannot be loaded. Please try again later.",
"lightbox_start_slideshow": "Start slideshow",

"lightbox_download": "Download",
"lightbox_share": "Share",
"lightbox_zoom": "Zoom",
"lightbox_new_window": "New window",
"lightbox_toggle_sidebar": "Toggle sidebar"
}
Write down (COM10) (yours may be different, just write it down)
Open up QPST
Select Ports & Add new port...
Enter your port (mine was (COM10) so I will put "COM10" in BOTH boxes)
In QPST select Start Clients and RF NV Item Manager
In RF NV Item Manager go to Settings -> Comport
Select your port from the drop menu and press ok
Under "File" choose Read Supported NV RF Items
From the list of items navigate to number 550
You will see 9 text boxes. This is where you will put in your IMEI. It's weird how it's ordered so follow this EXACTLY. You will need to enter your IMEI from left to right, but backwards. Here's what I mean:
***Make sure the Hex box is checked***
Code:
[B]EXAMPLE:[/B] Say your IMEI is 954091051099226
The boxes would look like so:
8 (This must go in the first box)
9a (The "a" represents the fact that the last pair only consists of 1 number)
45
90
01 (this can be written as 1 as well)
15
90
29
62
Once you enter in the data, press Write NV
Reboot your phone (remember to put your phone back to MTP + ADB by dialing *#7284#)
Your IMEI is now back!
Nice work going through all that :highfive:
=============NEED HELP / HAVE QUESTIONS?=============
I don't see "Ports (COM & LPT)" in Device Manager. Where is it?
Some of you may have trouble, even after dialing the correct numbers and that's okay. Here's what you need to do:
Open up cmd as Administrator
Type hdwwiz.exe to start the Hardware Wizard
Follow the onscreen prompts until you come to two choices
Select Install the hardware that I manually select from a list (Advanced)
Scroll down until you find Ports (COM & LPT) and select it
Add your phone's ports
Now go into Device Manager on your computer and start from instruction #10 in the first part of this guide.
Any news on fixing _______?
If there are any developments, I'd be posting about them on Twitter
I like this a lot. I want to donate to you.
Thanks for the consideration, but please donate to Peoplearmy instead. He is the main mastermind behind this.
=================FOR KNOWLEDGE=================
If your previous phone was only capable of 3G - remember we had to dial *228 to activate it or update our PRL? Well, DO NOT dial this on a 4G phone. Constantly dialing *228 on our Galaxy S3s has the potential to fry the SIM cards rendering our phones useless. With 4G phones, the PRL is automatically pushed to the phone via the SIM card and should be given periodic updates by Verizon.
Great info. Thanks for the how to! Third (or fourth) line should be 01 btw . Hope this will ressurect some bricks!

Oh, right. Thanks lol
This should encourage more people to try out the AOSP releases!
One note, in your IMEI example, I think you have 10 instead of 01. If I'm wrong, please delete this post.
Mods, feel free to delete once it's fixed.

It is awesome to know... I may try CM9 or CM10 later...
Just wanted to point out on the QPST download page, don't click any of the "download" buttons (there are multiple on the page). Just scroll to the middle of the page, enter the code, and click on "Qualcomm Product Support Tools (QPST) v.2.7.323"
Hitting the download buttons downloaded a "setup.exe" file. Not sure what it does but it sounds suspicious. Hope that helps and thanks PureMotive for the very thorough guide.
Thanks for your hard work, looks great..

Can anyone go to Settings -> Status and locate their MEID and tell me how many digits it is? Also, please let me know if you only see numbers or if there are letters as well. I believe a corrupt MEID (Dec & Hex) is the cause of errors such as persistent roaming and I would like to try to find a fix.
my MEID is 14 digits long. IMEI is 15 digits. both correct. on cm10.

MEID DEC = all numbers. 18 total
MEID HEX = numbers and letters. 1 letter (x) and 15 numbers. The letter is the 2nd thing listed followed by 14 numbers. For example, 0x13234123412341

Thank you. Do you have numbers and letters in your MEID or is it just one or the other? Also, is it a single string of numbers?
I forgot to ask, but if anyone is thinking of switching ROMs soon, can you compare the MEID on your first ROM with the MEID on the second ROM? Tell me if they are the same or different. This will greatly help development. Thanks!

Background:
The HTC Sensation has a sim unlock code on /dev/block/mmcblk0p6.
This was found and exploited months ago by Sensation users.
For the One S, HTC have decided to get a bit sneaky. The code still exists on the same block but they have encrypted the actual SIM unlock code by adding a key generated from the phone’s IMEI number.
This method uses the IMEI number to calculate the key which can then be subtracted to give a working SIM unlock code.
Thanks to contributions from various users, we now have 3 different methods of obtaining your SIM unlock code.
All are tested and confirmed to work on all versions of the HTC One S.
Method 1 (details below) requires no downloads and takes about 5 minutes.
Method 2 uses the first step of method 1 and then a small executable program on a Windows PC to do the calculation.
Method 3 requires the download of a Bash Script but fully automates the procedure.
Note 1: All methods require Root and only work at present for the S4 version.
Note 2: It is possible that the 'strings' command referred to in the text will only work if you have Busybox installed. If you are already using a custom ROM, you will probably have this. If you are on a rooted Stock ROM and cannot execute the strings command, try installing Busybox first.
Any feedback on this issue would be welcomed in the thread.
Note 3: CM10 based ROMS will normally return the correct values for UN_Lock_code, but fail to unlock when a new SIM card is inserted. If you have this problem, revert to a Sense-based ROM (e.g Trickdroid, Venom) for the unlock process. You may return to a CM10 base after the phone is unlocked.
Methods 2 and 3 can be found in Post 2.
METHOD 1
To find your SIM UNLOCK CODE you need:
1) Root
2) Android Terminal Emulator (free from the market)
3) Your IMEI number (dial *#06# on your dialler)
There are 4 steps to the process:
1) Obtain your UN_lock_code from your phone
2) Calculate the key from your IMEI number
3) Subtract (2) from (1)
4) Unlock your phone
Step 1
Obtain your UN_lock_code from your phone as follows:
Open the Terminal Emulator app and type:
su [enter]
strings -n 8 /dev/block/mmcblk0p6 [enter]
It will output several lines of data (including your IMEI number)
One of the lines will be [eg] UN_Lock_code=063312345
Make a note of this number (This is NOT your SIM unlock code)!
Step 2
Make a key from your IMEI number:
a) Write down the last 7 digits of your IMEI number in this format: 1234 567
b) Reverse the 2 blocks: 567 1234
c) Add a 4th digit X: 567 X 1234 where:
X = the sum of the first 3 digits (If the sum is 2 digits, write only the 2nd digit)
[5 + 6 + 7 = 18 in the example above so X = 8]
[if the sum is 3, X = 3]
[if the sum is 17, X = 7]
[if the sum is 25, X = 5] etc.
Using the above IMEI number we get:
567 8 1234 (= the key)
Step 3
Perform a simple sum.
UN_Lock_code [step 1] – key [step 2] = SIM UNLOCK CODE
e.g. 063312345 - 56781234 = 6 531 111
This needs to be an 8-digit number, so add a zero at the beginning if necessary
YOUR SIM UNLOCK CODE IS: 0653 1111
Step 4
Unlock your phone
a) Remove your SIM card (no need to turn off the phone)
b) Insert alternate SIM card
c) When prompted, enter SIM UNLOCK CODE obtained from step 3
d) Reboot when instructed
Please hit the thanks button!
METHOD 2 - Semi Automatic
Windows PC.
For this method follow step (1) from the above post to obtain your UN_Lock code
You can then download this app which will automate the calculation process.

}
Enter your UN_Lock code and the last 7 digits of your IMEI number and press the 'OK' button.
Your SIM Unlock code will be shown in the bottom box.
METHOD 3 - Fully Automatic
a) Download this Bash Script
b) Extract the zip
c) Move the unlock.sh to /system/ (it will not run from the sdcard due to Android restrictions)
d) Open terminal and run:
su <enter>
/system/unlock.sh <enter>
(Or execute the .sh file directly from root explorer)
The SIM Unlock code will be shown in the terminal and also saved to /sdcard/sim_unlock_code.txt

Method 1
Thank you to jh787 for this post. He was the first guy to compare the UN_Lock_code to his real (paid-for) sim unlock code.
I just tweaked the idea to find the mysterious X (and provided this guide).
Thanks also to jh787, mycomputerisjunk, rh387 and eneka who provided me with their actual unlock codes.
This allowed me to work out how to calculate the key and validate the method.
Method 2

With a lot of help from jh787, I have been discussing a hack which will give us SIM unlock for free.
I now have a method which I think works for all, but I need a few people to test first.
So, if you:
a) Have already bought an unlock SIM code for your phone OR
b) Want to see if this method will work
Then please read on and send me a pm with your results.
You need:
1) Root
2) Terminal Emulator (free from the market)
3) A spare Micro SIM from another network
Step 1
Obtain your UN_lock_code from your phone as follows:
Open the Terminal Emulator app and type:
su [enter]
strings -n 8 /dev/block/mmcblk0p6 [enter]
It will output several lines of data.
One of the lines will be [eg] UN_Lock_code=063312345
Make a note of this number (This is NOT your SIM unlock code)
Step 2
Send me a pm with:
1) The last 7 digits of your IMEI number (type *#06# in dialler to get this)
2) The UN_Lock_code obtained from step 1 above.
If you have already bought a SIM unlock code and know that it works, please send me that as well. (This will help to confirm if this method works properly).
For anyone who has not yet SIM-unlocked their phone, but is willing to try [1 attempt!], I will generate a SIM unlock code and send it back via pm for you to try. If it works, I will publish the method for all to use.
Thanks in advance for your help!

Have you ever lose your phone ‘s signal due to accidentally selecting USA BAND in *#*#4636#*#* menu? If yes, this guide is for you. Thanks to @ian.anindya for guidance and clues on how to restore my phone’s signal back.
Requirement:
1. Rooted HTC One E8 phone
2. Knowledge on how to use ADB command
3. Software Qpst, Qxdm and Mztool
4. A cup of coffee
This is how to do it:
1. Download all necessary software here and extract to separate folder.
2. Install Qpst and Qxdm.
3. Enable USB debugging on your phone and connect it to PC. Verify with command
Code:
adb devices
It must show your device ID and must not be offline.

}
4. Input command below to activate diagnostic mode
Code:
adb shell
su
If this is the first time you issue the command, check your phone. There is a prompt asking for root permission, grant it. Continue with below command
Code:
echo 1 > /sys/devices/virtual/android_usb/android0/f_diag/on
5. Your PC will detect new hardware and install necessary drivers. If you do not have the drivers, browse to HTC Diag folder which you download together with qpst and qxdm software. If the drivers installation succeed, check your PC device manager and it will show your HTC Diagnostic Interface (in my case COM5, the value can be different on your PC).
Your phone is now ready for the fun part playing with NV items
6. Open QPST configuration from your windows start menu. Go to Ports tab, and then add your HTC Diag com port.
7. We need to backup current NV items in case something goes wrong. Choose start client, software download. On backup tab, select where to store .qcn file and click start and wait until finished. After finished, close QPST program.
8. Open QXDM professional from your windows start menu. Select NV Browser in the drop down list. Since we do not connect our phone yet, the NV list is not editable.
9. Choose option, communications. Select HTC Diag com port in the target port. If succeed now the NV browser window is editable.
Tick Dual SIM if your phone is dual SIM version. Subscription ID field will be activated.
ID 0 is for SIM 1 and ID 1 is for SIM 2.
For this purpose, we will only need to edit NV item 1877, 441, 946 and 2954.
10. SIM 1
Make sure Dual SIM is ticked and Subscription id is 0.
We use Mztool application to define frequency parameters.
Go to Band Preference (NV Value) tab to configure GSM and WCDMA frequency that we want to put in our phone. Choose the frequency that supported by your phone.
Mine is like this
According to the picture,
Box No.1 refers to NV item 1877. Value is 73925504 (remove commas)
Box No.2 refers to NV item 441. Value is 896
Box No.3 refers to NV item 946. Value is 1128
Box No.4 referes to NV item 2954. Value is 0
All values are in Decimal
Now we need to input these values in NV browser window in Qxdm.
NV Item 1877
On column ID, find item 1877. Click Read to read current value. Take note of it, in case something goes wrong. Write the new value 73925504 under input field and click Write. Click Read again to verify.
NV Item 441
On column ID, find item 441. Click Read to read current value. Take note of it, in case something goes wrong. Write the new value 896 under input field. The value is automatically converted in to Hex.
In my case 896 in decimal is the same as 0x380 in Hex. Click Write. Click Read again to verify.
Do not touch the nam value.
NV Item 946
On column ID, find item 946. Click Read to read current value. Take note of it, in case something goes wrong. Write the new value 1128 under input field. The value is automatically converted in to Hex.
In my case 1128 in decimal is the same as 0x468 in Hex. Click Write. Click Read again to verify.
Do not touch the nam value.
NV Item 2954
On column ID, find item 2954. Click Read to read current value. Take note of it, in case something goes wrong. Write the new value 0 under input field and click Write. Click Read again to verify.
Do not touch the nam value.
Up to here, if you reboot your phone, It should get GSM/WCDMA signal on SIM 1 only. Now we are working for SIM 2.
11. SIM 2
Dual SIM is still ticked but this time choose Subscription ID 1
Remember that SIM 2 supports only GSM (no WCDMA). So in Mztool, choose only GSM signal.
Mine is like this
According to the picture,
NV item 1877 value is 2622336
NV item 441 value is 896
NV item 946 value is 40
NV item 2954 value is 0
All values are in Decimal
Do the same procedures as SIM 1.
12. After finished editing NV items, close Qxdm and then we have to close the diagnostic mode.
Wait around 10 seconds and then input command below to deactivate diagnostic mode
Code:
adb shell
su
echo 0 > /sys/devices/virtual/android_usb/android0/f_diag/on
13. Reboot your phone using ADB command
Code:
adb reboot
After rebooting your phone, wait for 1 or 2 minutes and then hopefully you will get the GSM/WCDMA signal.
Later on, I will continue this guide on how to add LTE Band

I have not tried roam with other network, but have you checked frequency band of your destination network? and compare with the one in your NV items list?

Hi, this is more about a national roaming within india and i dont think the bands will vary in such case...and to be more clear i had searched the bands listed for E8 dual sim on htc site and added them on the mz tool. i believe there is some other nv item that needs an edit to enable the roaming, would be of great help if you could suggest reg it.
Install Superuser "The su binary is out of date."

I am having difficulty in rooting my phone (HTC One E8 Dual Sim) completely, as I get error message "The Superuser binary (su) must be updated. Please choose an installation method. Recovery mode installation is recommended for HTC devices." Options are --> Cancel/ Recovery Install. When I choose Recovery Install, I get another screen which states "There was an error installing Superuser. Please send a log of the error to the developer."
I used TWRP 2.8.7.0 to flash recovery through ADB and installed superuser.zip obtained from clockworkmod site which I guess is the latest version of SU.
I request for your technical expertise to help m e out as I need to perform lot of troubleshooting steps further to rectify the issue with USA Band.
Thank you.

For people under warranty !
Hey Guys ! I had the same problem in my HTC E8. Gave it to the service centre and got the motherboard replaced after ~25 days.
Just got the phone back . Has a different IMEI number now.
Phone now has Wifi signal issues ( Getting very less signal strength in relative comparison to my other phone ) and it takes about ~15minutes for the data to turn ON.
Hence the phone is back to the service centre .
can be refurbished device

The warranty replacement can be refurbished ones. This is the only reason I did not send my mobile to HTC US warranty claim centre. The Indian purchased mobile also have global warranty , but the claim device can be refurbished. I purchased mine just 3 month back for full price and dont want to receive refubished unit
So still working on my second sim slot, hopefully if the first sim slot works in India once I reach , I will be very happy . Atleast i dont have to fight with HTC for warranty replacement .
Anyways i will never buy another HTC .

Atleast it has come back to original setting , even though i still dont have n/w in sim slot 1
With my experiance ..... pls follow the below ,,,,
Put the CDMA in SIM lot 1 and GSM in sim slot 2
1 . Got to *#*#4636#*#* and selct radio bands to Cellular (800 MHz) only ,,,,
2 .. and keep the all type of signalings like WCDMA/GSM/CDMA/EVODO/LTE auto ......
u will get sifnal in both sims.................

I am using T-Mobile gsm in slot one . I think wcdma or 3g gsm should work onnslot one . Correct me if I am wrong
Airtel 2g/3g used to work in slot one when I was in India
I will be happy even if 2g works . I have kept the settings as you have mentioned

I did not have this problem and it may have been because in the RegEdit I changed the phone to a Lumia 930 instead of a 735... This may help or it may not, just thought I'd throw it out there.:
PhoneManufacturer to Nokia
PhoneManufacturerModelName to RM-1045_1009
PhoneModelName to Lumia 930

Hi. It works with 735 as well. I think MS has fixed the issue in Redstone!.. Also after updating to latest version try a Hardreset. It'll bring back Phone configuration back to HTC M8 from what ever the custom models numbers you gave.

Hi... Thanks for noticing... Corrected!
stuck at preview for developers
NEVERMIND
no data
So I got this done and hit the road to evac for hurricane and have no data. On wifi now,lol. I updated until I couldn't anymore and show the build 14393.221. Did I stop too soon?
So this process requires me to get the 10.0.10586.338 preview build?(Step 37) If so then I'm out of luck. Seems my HTC One M8 will not acquire that update.
Whenever I try to access the Preview for Developers app I get this:
Developer Account
To download the preview. you must be registered as a windows phone developer.
Is this correct? Am I being a dunce? If not could it be because I have a paid developer account?
I appreciate the help.
I was excited to try this but see it is failing. I did have my phone on WM10 but they stopped providing insider builds. I reverted back to 8.1 and disliked it.
Unfortunately, I'm stopped at developer phone registration. The registration tool can't get to http://api.marketplace.windowsmobile.com/ from my workstation, so I get an error, https://social.msdn.microsoft.com/F...stration-failing-errorcode-0x64?forum=wptools
Will try tomorrow.
i got redstone working. by only sending collected cabs.
no device spoofing involved. need to reproduce it again to write a tutorial.
only works for tmous-version.
for other versions (verizon/at&t), other lang packs might be needed.
I was going to post a quick update to this, but I ended up completely redoing your instruction set. I don't want to step on anyone's toes, but I'm going to post a new topic in this forum with the revised instructions. Yours were ok, but needed some substantial clarification in a number of places. I hope this doesn't offend or upset anyone.

[ATTENTION]: Before proceeding, save all your data on your computer and REMOVE ANY KIND OF UNLOCKING (sequence, pin, fingerprint etc ..); remove the sim and the microSD; get a microSD, at least 3/4 giga, where you can upload the files necessary for the procedure.
[NECESSARY CONDITIONS]: Starting from emui 8; have the cell phone charged to 100%; bootloader unlocked and the only procedure I know and working is the one I propose in the guide, the code is obtained by paying 4 €/$, THERE ARE NO FREE ALTERNATIVES.
[PREREQUISITES]: Download -> HiSuite , Dc-Unlocker
At this point we create a folder on the desktop and we will call it ANDROID1O to have a reference point and we will extract the folder contained in the dc-unlocker archive. Once the folder has been extracted, install adb and fastboot in order. At this point we can also install HiSuite.
[PROCEDURE]
[DOWNGRADE] In
order for dc-unlocker to read the bootloader code it is necessary to go back to an older version of android, so let's proceed as follows:
(1) We connect the mobile phone to the computer and start HiSuite, in some cases it will start automatically, and we follow the procedure that will be shown to us to enable debugging. If you have followed everything correctly HiSuite will read your device without problems.
(2) Remaining on HiSuite, click on the UPDATE SYSTEM item, a window will appear, at this point we can press on PREVIOUS VERSION (now I don't remember the precise wording) and we can start the downgrade. It will take a while.
(3) At the end of the downgrade we can start the mobile phone by skipping and ignoring the various configurations by putting the language in Italian as a matter of practicality, let's move on to the next step
[GET BOOTLOADER CODE]
(1) We go to the system settings ---> information ----> we do many taps until the message "now you are a developer" appears ----> we go back ----> developer options and activate usb debugging.
(2) Let's go to HiSuite and in the settings located at the top right we remove the check mark under "Start when it connects to the device" and close it.
(3) We buy the credits to read the bootloader code from https://www.dc-unlocker.com/buy in this way:
- We select the payment method
- We leave "new user account"
- We enter a username that we like it
- We enter an e-mail address to which we can easily access, here we will be sent the credentials to be able to access dc-ulocker
- We enter 4 in the credits box and then type on confirm
- If everything went well, the screen will appear with the credentials and you will receive a copy on the email
(We now have the necessary credits to be able to read the unlock code)
(4) Let's go back to the folder created on the desktop and start dc-unlocker and clicking on the SERVER item we enter the credentials obtained on the site
(5) At this point in the drop-down at the top left we look for the item HUAWEI PHONES
(6) A guide will appear that in any case I will report here:
- In the call keypad type the following combination * # * # 2846579 # * # *
- Press on MANUFACTURE MODE
(7) We can connect the mobile phone and press on the magnifying glass we see on dc-unlocker and if we have done everything correctly the program it will detect our mobile phone
(8) When the phone has been recognized we go to the UNLOCKING section and press on READ BOOTLOADER CODE, if we have done everything correctly we will get a code that we will enter somewhere so as not to lose it, we will need it later
(I leave you the video dc-unlocker official guide on how to unlock bootloader if you have any doubts ---> Help
(9) We disconnect the mobile phone from the computer
(10) After writing down the bootloader code we can close dc-unlocker, connect the mobile phone to a wifi network and search for system updates to return to the latest version of android and therefore to emui8,
if no updates appear, we try to force them by going to settings, wifi, press and hold on the wifi to which we are connected, modify, check advanced options, press on proxy, manual,
in proxy hostname we write localhost and in the port we write 8080 , we press on connect and if we return to the updates item it should find the most recent version. At this point we can update the mobile phone to the most recent version.
[BOOTLOADER UNLOCK]
(1) After returning to the most recent version of android we turn on the mobile phone
(2) We go to the system settings ---> information ----> do many taps until the message "you are now a developer "----> go back ----> developer options and activate the usb debug and the active voice unlock manufacturer
(3) We connect the mobile phone to the computer, press on transfer files, go back to the developer settings and activate the debug , at this point the mobile will ask us to give permissions to our computer and we confirm
(4) Let's go back to the desktop and at the top right click on file, open windows powershell, open windows poweshell as administrator and click on yes
(5) We type the command "adb devices" (write it without quotes), we wait for the end of the 'execution of the command and type again the command "adb devices" (without quotes)
and so we will see a number that corresponds to our mobile phone
(6) We give the command "adb reboot bootloader" (without quotes) and we send
(7) The mobile phone will start in a white screen with an android, the important thing is that two written in red appear with the words PHONE Unlocked and FRP Unlock
(8) From the Widows poweshell screen opened previously we give the command "fastboot oem unlock CODICEBOOTLOADER" (without quotation marks) (CODICEBOOTLOADER refers to the code obtained with Dc-Unlocker) and press on
enter (9) On the cellualre a warning will appear, press once the volume up key and then the power key to confirm the unlocking of the bootloader
(10) When the procedure is finished, it will take very little time, we give the command "fastboot reboot" (without quotes) and when the mobile phone screen it will go black we unplug it
(11) The cellualre will restart a couple of times with a white and other yellow writing, let it go, it will be returned to the factory settings and we will just have to skip all the configuration procedures but set the language in Italian
Finally the bootloader is unlocked!

I didn't need to downgrade. I've just downgraded after the unlock via dload in order to install Android 11 Rom.

It's almost impossible to find it randomly. There are too many combinations...
If you read the issue section of this git, you'll see it by yourself.

I tried but It didn't work. Unfortunately I had an aplhanumeric code despite that my device was european, and this made impossible the task to find the code ( it would take millions of years to do a minimum percentage of combinations ).
I found it using PotatoNV, it adds the difficult part to disassemble the phone but it is very efficient.

It is not supposed to happen this way. You have to see something like "fastboot error: wrong password", so you're probably missing some permissions.
Anyway unless you have a numeric code there is virtually zero chance to find it in that way.
In my case I ran the script and in ~4 hours it tried all the numeric codes supposed to fit with my imei, but with no success. Later I discovered that my code was alphanumeric.
Hi everyone, I've just obtained te bootloader code, but now I'm stuck on EMUI 5.0.3, there are no updates available.
I tried forcing it but nothing changes..
On my P8 Lite 2017, I've tried the PotatoNV method which is, in fact, very easy (the most difficult part was to open the back cover, but with an opening tool it's easier) and no need to downgrade. For me the SkyEmie method was just a waste of time.

NEW: Install official Global ROM on Chinese TB132FU running ZUI 14 or Fake globalDISCLAMER: Flashing on TB132FU is pretty much safe and a hard brick has not occured yet, but do it at your own risk. If anything goes wrong you can return to ZUI 14 using one of the restoration methods listed on the FAQ thread. ALL YOUR FILES WILL BE DELETED. Make a backup of your personal files before proceeding.
Did my work help you? Be free to buy me a coffee. PayPal me at @alsbvg
Current version: TB132FU_S000094_221117_ROW
To see what works and what doesn't check below.
To flash this version you will need:
1 - A computer running Windows
2 - Flashtool (attached to the thread)
3 - ADB drivers or UsbDk drives & MTK drivers
4 - ZUI 14 installed on your TB132FU. If you have fake global you can flash as well, but having ZUI is recommended.
5 - Firmware file
6 - Attention to the really detailed tutorial below.
How to flash
Preparation:
1 - Download and install the drivers provided above. If you already have them installed skip this step.
2 - On your computer create a folder on your Desktop. Name it LENOVO.
3 - Download the firmware file (download link provided above) and un-zip it inside the LENOVO folder on your desktop. So inside your LENOVO folder now you should have a folder called TB132FU_S000094 Global.
4 - Download the attached flash tool and un-zip it inside the LENOVO folder on your desktop. Now you have a folder called TB132FU_S000094 Global and a folder called MTK_Flashtool.
5 - Power off your TB132FU and disconnect it from your computer in case you have it connected.
Flashing:
1 - Go to the LENOVO folder, and open the folder MTK-Flashtool. Inside this folder find flash_tool and double-click to open it.
2 - Once it opens click the TAB download. Do not click the green arrow.
3 - For the Download agent click Choose. Navigate to your Desktop > Lenovo > MT_Flashtool and select the file MTK_AllInOne_DA_onyx_signed
4- For Scatter-loading file click Choose. Navigate to your Desktop > Lenovo > TB132FU_S000094 Global and select MT6893_Android_scatter.txt. You will see two files with the same name. Click the one with the paper with lines icon. Wait for it to load.
5 - For Authentication File click Choose. Navigate to your Desktop > Lenovo > MT_Flashtool and select the file auth_sv5
6 - You will see white and green lines below. Scroll down and find the line that starts with lk_a and UNMARK it. All the other options should be marked, only lk_a should be unmarked.
Ex:
{
"lightbox_close": "Close",
"lightbox_next": "Next",
"lightbox_previous": "Previous",
"lightbox_error": "The requested content cannot be loaded. Please try again later.",
"lightbox_start_slideshow": "Start slideshow",
"lightbox_stop_slideshow": "Stop slideshow",
"lightbox_full_screen": "Full screen",
"lightbox_thumbnails": "Thumbnails",
"lightbox_download": "Download",
"lightbox_share": "Share",
"lightbox_zoom": "Zoom",
"lightbox_new_window": "New window",
"lightbox_toggle_sidebar": "Toggle sidebar"
}
7 - Click the green arrow DOWNLOAD and plug in your tablet. Wait until it completes flashing the firmware.
And done. Once it is finished you can unplug your tablet and turn it on. You now should be running the latest global rom on your TB132FU;
What works:
Google Sync
HDR with true black
Productivity mode (PC mode)
And almost everything else. I'm still testing it.
What doesn't work:
OTA - once a new update is available it will be needed to be flashed manually losing all data. OTA did not work on a previous version.
Ultra-fast charging. It has Rapid charge but not the super fast charging available on ZUI
Some users reported L1 when flashing this global.
For users who lost L1 status, no solution to get it back from L3 yet. :/
"Scroll to the left" on the home screen to access the media center will not turn off even if you try manually setting it as off.
Time-zone issue: Factory reset it after the first boot to get it fixed.
You tell me what else is not working.
Thanks for the detailed explanation.
Some cuestions that you may have an answer for:
1. Has the bootloader to be unlock? What happens if I have the bootloader lock? (I lock mine with zui 14 in order to get L1)
2. Is there a way to change region code like in others lenovo models? Will it have any impact on OTAs?
3. Can you rollback to zui 14?
Thanks in advance. I think that will be able to have a full working rom with OTAs and L1 eventually. This is a huge step forward

Out of curiosity, does the Chinese model have an Ultra fast charging?
My Global P11 Pro gen 2 does Rapid charge and my cable display caps out at 10w which I wouldn't say is rapid...
Same cable and charger gives me much faster speeds on my Galaxy S22U.

It does. The Chinese running ZUI has Ultra-fast charging with the original cable and charger.

1 - You don't need the bootloader to be unlocked to flash this global version. I had Zui 14 with a locked bootloader and OEM locked, and the flashing worked. The OEM toggle will not be available once you use this version. It says you need to connect to the internet or contact your carrier.
2 - No way to change the region code so far. OTA will not work as described. It was tested on an older version. It will download and try to install but will fail. This is the latest rom so no OTA updates so far, we will have to wait to see if it will be the same.
3 - Yes, you can roll back to Zui 14. I did that quite a few times during my tests. Bricked the device more than 20 times and was always able to roll back to ZUI.
Thank you so much!
Generating User Accounts is working too? Wanted to use the tablet for the family, but ZUI doesn't offer accounts and Google Family doesn't work.
Hi. Thank you very much for the excellent work! Testing, so far so good. Do I have an L1 or am I misunderstanding something? Screenshot attached.
Thanks for the great work you do.
We have successfully implemented the global implementation.
My tablet is formatted with the SP Flash Tool. The serial number was lost at that time. (When I looked in the settings, the serial number was 0123456789ABCDEF.)
The serial number itself was recovered by rewriting the proinfo.bin. I think this formatting probably caused the Widevine-related settings to disappear and become L3.
I ask other L3 users, did you format with SP Flash Tool or python?
Flash mine today from ZUI 14 with bootloader lock, L1 and Google Play Certified to Global ROM and I kept L1, Google Certified Device and everything Is working. Even fast charging.
Thanks a lot! Let's see what happens when an OTA Will be available.

I bought it for my daughter to use and have Family link for her Google Account and its all kinds of wonky (it shows my daughters account under Accounts then it vanishes. the only way I can add it back in is by signing into the Play store but then after an hour or so it goes. Works fine with my google account. Damn Family Link!)
(its on 14.0.413, and has an update pending for 14.0.640 ST). Not a clue how to check if its a modified ROM or what, but was going to try the above and see how it gets on.
Just to clarify fast charging Is shown on the screen but I don't if it's 10w ir 30w. I Will do some measures today and keep you posted

Try the AccuBattery app, it may not be accurate, but it shows the charging current. I don't want to charge it yet. I will first discharge it and then install this app and start charging. It's convenient because it shows time to charge up to 100%.

Thanks for your input. I formated it before using the option "format + download" and serial number is now 012345678ABCDEF. I can try doing what you did with the file proinfo.bin. Any specific tutorial you used?

Go to your settings menu. If you see the word ZUI anywhere, it's the Chinese model and you can flash the global if you want.

Thanks! Yep, I have ZUI! I think its the family link attached to my daughters Google account that makes it annoying, but can't see any down sides in going to the Global to be honest. Can't get any worse... can it?!

It shouldn't get any worse lol, but if your daughter is a kid you might benefit of a global rom, it has Kids space and the possibility of creating multiple users.
Awesome! Big thanks.

What I did.
Install Python and mtkclient on a windows 10 computer.
python mtk rl --skip userdata "Destination path"
Backup everything but the user data with the above command
Open the backed up proinfo.bin with HxD and rewrite the serial number at the beginning.
python mtk wl "Destination path"
Flash the rewritten proinfo.bin with the above command.

I used to be able to do this, but I just tried it with a globalised tablet and it didn't work: the BROM mode (press power and volume plus simultaneously to connect the cable) is difficult to connect and even if it does, an error message appears and the process stops. When I get more time, I will switch back to zui14 and give it a try.

Nice one! I can test it tomorrow. It's actually easier to pull the proinfo.bin file using MTK META Utility by using option Dump NV region. I was able to get and edit the file. Not sure how to flash it again on ZUI with a unlocked bootloader. But that's a start. I managed to get another Serial number by flashing another user's backup, but I still have L3, so might not be connected. I'll keep trying.

Now let's see if it impacts or not L3. Testing...
