So what does VoLTE (Voice over LTE) Mean for us sprint customers? Will it be another WiMax horror all over again where we have to buy a new phone because eventually the current 1X CDMA Voice network will be decommissioned?
What are the advantages and disadvantages to this system???

Is there any way to use a carriers 3g network that doesn't have a contract agreement with at&t instead of only being able to use edge data in a non at&t coverage area?

Not in the states.

Yeah, I'm pretty sure it can't work on other networks because of the broadcast frequencies.
My inspire is for AT&T which I have unlocked for t - mobile but I only get edge internet...
I saw there was a number to(call)/ dial to change settings but when I set it to 3g my signal would just stop and say no service. I also heard wasn't possible to have 3 but I doubt that, is it true?

That depends on the area where you are....in the case you are using a different carrier from ATT you wont get 3g...just edge.
So "lay012" gets 3g because he has AT&T?
There's no way then?

For 3G
Tmobile uses 1700/2100 MHz
HTC Inspire uses 850/1900 MHz
So to answer you, there is NO way. Have to get a phone that matches the network.
The stuff they teach you in school 'skimming and scanning' or whatever your teachers called it shouldn't be used in life after school. I didn't see the unlocked for T-Mobile part .-.
I'm on AT&T.

No the bands are hardware dependent. This has been talked about it hundreds of times. A search would have shown this.

I heard that tmobile was launching their first LTE network during ces. They tooted their horns, but I don't see any updates about it.
Any feedback would be appreciative

I've got an AT&T straight talk sim in my i9020t and can only get an edge connection, from what I can tell it looks like I need a Tmobile sim. I read about an SII that you could flash a radio that would make it work though, anyone know anything about this? I'd rather try flashing some before I order a new sim.
I've heard that too about the GSII, but I'm afraid the situation is different for the nexus s. Your I9020T's 3g radio will only work on tmobiles frequencies; the hardware's reception capabilities cannot be changed by flashing something.
Now, I'm not familiar with the sim you currently have in, BUT, if that network uses the same frequencies as T-Mobile, all you need to do is adjust your APN's.
I'd look up the frequencies for you, but I'm off to class..
Let my know how it goes/what you find!

I'm pretty sure that he's right about being stuck on the edge with at&t. 3g frequency only on tmobile. You would need a pentaband phone like the gnex to get both carriers 3g or hpsa+

Yep, at&t 3g frequencies are not the same as T-Mobile frequencies. You definitely need a T-Mobile sim for your i9020T

Hello friends, i just want to know that if i have 4G SIM in my fone and am out of 4G coverage area. So does 4G SIM improve voice calls quality on GSM.

yes , but I experienced good voice quality on 3G as compared to GSM ,so it means voice over 3G is different as compared to GSM. This is my perception and my own experience. Voice break on GSM but on 3G signal it won't. So it that's why I think it might be be more good on 4G.
