Zip file not flashing
Hello! This is some great work on the battery mods, something I'd love to take advantage of. I'm trying to install the Neon collection, but the archive is not flashing.
I followed the instructions in the OP, copied the 100 battery files and the stat_sys_battery.xml into the systemUI.apk, then swapped it into the archive. I uploaded the new archive file to my Dropbox account, then downloaded it onto my Fire, rebooted into recovery (TWRP 2.1.1) and tried to install the Neon_with_Percentage_Mod.zip file. I keep getting an error that says "E:Unable to open zip file. Error flashing zip /sdcard/my_directory/Neon_with_Percentage_Mod.zip".
Do I need to use adb to manually push the archive file onto the Fire rather than passing it through my Dropbox account? Seems unlikely to be the cause of the problem, but I'm not sure what else the problem could be. Any thoughts?
EDIT: I just worked my way back through all the steps, and this time the flash was successful. However, now that I've rebooted into normal mode, there are no battery icons at all in the status bar - just the clock and the wifi signal indicator. I opened the /system/app/SystemUI.apk file and verified that the modifications (stat_sys_battery.xml and 100 battery image files) are indeed there, but for some reason they're not being picked up. I've tried using both the normal tablet statusbar and the quicknav tablet statusbar v2, but no battery icons show up anywhere, though the notifications pop-up contains the text percentage next to my network name. Any help would be much appreciated... Thanks in advance!

Yes, Jandycane. I'm now on 1.7.2, with Gapps from 7-26. I had given up since this post says it's discontinued, but if you know how to get this battery mod working that'd be great. Thanks!

I tried installing it twice, once just straight up, and the second time after wiping the cache and Dalvik cache. Got the same result for both, and the same thing as when I tried it initially a few days ago - no battery icon is visible at all now. This version of Jandycane has an option to have the percentage overlaid on top of the icon, and since I had that option enabled now all I can see is that number where the icon should be. What should I try next?

Before I started doing any of this I copied the original SystemUI.apk. I'm back on that original file now, so it should be the original sys_stats_battery.xml, too.
So...any thoughts, or am I just plain stuck?

Have you tested this? Here's what happened to me: I pushed the services.jar as instructed. Afterwards, my phone boots, but it takes about 5 minutes each time it reboots. But it does show the 6 bar signal meter. I only get to see it for about 10 seconds before my phone reboots again. It then just keeps going in a loop, rebooting.

Did you grant services.jar rw-r--r-- permissions, thats how I pushed it with rootexplorer?
Hope this helps you!
You guys are on the money. Download the pack, push services.jar. That will give you 6 bars. The 5 minute reboot is normal, and it should only happen the first time. Any jar changes will cause this.
I don't have any problems with the push. And I do get the 6 bars. The only problem is that my phone keeps rebooting, and it takes about 5 minutes EVERY TIME it reboots.
I'd feel much better if someone with SR3.3.1 will admit that the've done this successfully. Then I'd have some hope. Because I just tried this again this morning (for the 3rd time) and get the same results.

Just to add one more confirmation:
To install this on SkyRaider 3.3.1:
1) Pull services.jar from the uncommon pack
2) Use Root Explorer to rename the old services.jar to services.bak (just in case)
3) Again with Root Explorer, copy/paste the new services.jar (/system/framework)
4) Long press the new file, select Permissions, then check Read/Write for User, Read for Group, and Read for Others. You could also chmod 644 using Terminal, I believe.
5) Reboot and be patient.
6) Enjoy!

UPDATE: Worked like a charm! Thanks!
Make your boring old 3G icon on status bar to the new Fancy 4G LTE icon.
Screenshots attached below
-Download the zip file
-Move the file to root of SD card
-Install via Bootstrap if you don't have bootstrap the apk is below move that to Root of SD card also and then install on phone
-Open bootstrap app hit "Bootstrap Recovery" then hit "Reboot Recovery"
-After it reboots hit install from sd card using volume rocker buttons then select it with red camera key
-Pick the file "3G to 4G LTE icon.zip" and install it
-Then reboot your phone
-Theres your fancy 4G LTE icon
ENJOY!
Umm....no
Can I have the stock HTC EVO boot animation while you're at it. What's the point of modding 4G LTE on there when we don't have 4G LTE?

Download root explorer from the market. Download the .apk from the first post and place it on the root of your sdcard. Open root explorer and find the .apk you just placed on your sdcard and long press it and hit copy. The go to system>app and paste it there. It should replace the stock SystemUI.apk. I am running Lithium as my rom, which has beats audio installed. This has caused some problems for me, as it lowers audio quality when using poweramp. If you disagree, keep it to yourself and don't tell me I am wrong in this thread. Wow, that just sounded a lot meaner than it was meant to. Anyways, is there any way to remove it completely?

I was looking at that at one time... and I started writing down all of the files that get installed with the mod... but then I got to the /system/etc/ folder and gave up...
If you're feeling motivated, check out the attached zip for everything it installs, and then you could attempt to remove those files... by your method of choice.
NOTE: NO ONE SHOULD ATTEMPT TO FLASH THE ATTACHMENT - sorry for yelling, but it's not a flashable zip, just the system folder from the BeatsAudiob0314.zip for reference...
You should probably cross-reference and take the proper files from a stock ROM you have lying around though, because a few of the files are replaced, like /system/etc/media_profiles.xml and /lib/libreverbwrapper.so & libvisualizer.so (and possibly others?)... In fact, if you do manage to do all of that it would definitely be worth making a "remove beats audio" script/zip
Well, I removed it from the rom after setting it up with rom kitchen. This has worked before, but now it will not flash, I get an error in CWM that says something about status 0 and it aborts the zip install I think that has something to do with the update binary. anyone have any ideas?

Yea, that sounds like an updater-script or update-binary file issue... You could try borrowing the META-INF folder from a different flashable rom...
Or maybe you could remove the necessary files through adb in recovery (or make a script if you can - that's beyond me) and make a smaller update.zip with the files you need to replace. I have much better luck making small flashable zips as opposed to full roms. Either way, good luck! And keep us posted..

Status 0 refers to an issue eighths updater-script. Make sure you have a semicolon at the end of every line, and the line endings are in Linux format if you using windows.

Another thought... don't know how well it would work but - you could possibly make a cwm backup, get it on to your comp, open the system.ext3.tar with 7-zip, and do all of your deleting/replacing through 7-zip... then close her up, move it back to your sdcard and restore as normal (or restore system only).. obviously not touching the name or md5 sum..
again, never tried anything like that, but it sounds possible (in my head at least)...

But, if you could do it for our phone first (keep it in the family ), I'm sure others would eventually port it to their device if it doesn't work right.. sounds like it'd be a very useful "anti-mod", if you will...

I'm fairly new to the xda community... So I'm hoping this works for others like it worked for me. I tried about 20 different modded phone apks that were supposedly designed to work for 160dpi setting on AOKP and CM9 roms and I was just about to give up when I stumbled across one that actually works!!! Directions are pretty simple...
1. Download phone.apk file from below
2. move to root of sd card
3. In root explorer (or any file browser with root access) go to /system/app and rename original phone.apk to phone.apk.bak
4. Copy and paste new phone.apk in /system/app
5. Reboot phone and enjoy
No need to change app permissions to -rw-r--r--
UPDATE!!!! For those of you that prefer a flashable zip, Mr. Apocalypse was kind enough to upload one in post #12 of this thread

It replaces the stock phone app... The stock phone app will crash on any LCD density below 200 dpi. This modded phone app will run on the lower densities so you can use the 160 dpi setting and still be able to make/receive phone calls without a FC error.

It's nothing major... Just a fix for a force close error when using the phone app on different LCD densities. A lot of ppl like the look of 160 dpi and 128 dpi (tablet mode) but you lose call functionality as a consequence... This fixes that issue.
Also... If you decide to return the phone to stock LCD density there's no need to revert back to the old phone apk... This one will work in all densities from 128-240 dpi. (I haven't tried anything larger than 240 yet... IDK why anyone would though )
Ah, okay got it..
Sent from my LG-P999 using XDA
thankyou so much! fixed my issue wondered why it kept crashing when it was lower than 200 lol
I'll try it out. That FC pop up gets annoyings as stopping and clearing data after every reboot gets annoying lol.
Does this permanently replace the stock phone apk?
I can't get anything to work. Not the rename, not the copy and past. Nothing.

Make sure the /system folder is mounted as read/write before you do this... If your file explorer app doesn't have the option to give you root access you can mount /system by using terminal emulator.
Use the following commands:
su
busybox mount -o remount,rw /system
[TROLL]You know, a flashable would really help [/TROLL]
Lol, jk, attached is a flashable, uses the same Phone.apk in the OP for those who's having trouble with the push process.
I personally haven't tested it, but it should help with those who are.
Thanks I'll give that a go. Can I flash this directly to the appropriate file or do I need to move it after flashing?

Flash it and it will replace whatever Phone.apk you have with the one in the OP.

Thanks for that! Yea I'm not quite skilled with these things as of yet... Hopefully I'll get there soon though.
The file flash fine, but I'm still experiencing a problem. Fortunately, I think I've narrowed down the problem to Wfi Calling. I started a new thread in search for an answer. Eith way, thanks for the effort guys!
Does this fix the issue where the slider to answer the call is off the screen?

No, unfortunately not.
I just ran in this issue, looking for a fix right now.

Didn't find any working package so I started browsing the Android source.
I think I found the root of this problem:
https://github.com/AOKP/packages_apps_Phone/blob/ics/res/layout/incall_touch_ui.xml#L52
Code:
<!--
(1) incomingCallWidget: the UI displayed while an incoming call is ringing.
See InCallTouchUi.showIncomingCallWidget().
Layout notes:
- Use an opaque black background since we need to cover up
a bit of the bottom of the contact photo
- The verticalOffset value gets us a little extra space above
the topmost "Respond by SMS" icon
- [b]The negative layout_marginBottom shifts us slightly downward;
we're already aligned with the bottom of the screen, but we
don't have an icon in the downward direction so the whole
bottom area of this widget is just wasted space.[/b]
-->
<com.android.internal.widget.multiwaveview.MultiWaveView
android:id="@+id/incomingCallWidget"
android:layout_width="match_parent"
android:layout_height="wrap_content"
android:layout_alignParentBottom="true"
[b]android:layout_marginBottom="-46dp"[/b]
android:background="@android:color/black"
android:visibility="gone"
I guess this -46dp is too much and needs to be lowered a bit.
Downloading AOKP source right now and trying to rebuild the Phone.apk
