6-bar signal meter for Skyraider 3.3? - Droid Incredible Themes and Apps

Anyone have the 6-bar signal meter files for Skyraider 3.3? Don't wanna load the uncommon sense pack...thanks!
Sent from my ADR6300 using XDA App

Please do help, I would like to modify the signal meter as well.

download the "Uncommon" theme, its in the 2nd post of the skyraider 3.3 thread.

Any way to get the 6 signal bar on stock sense? I am rooted and that is it.

In the OP I stated I didn't want the entire theme. Just the 6-bar signal meter. The reason why I don't want the Uncommon pack is because I like the Sense Rosie.

Download the pack, and push just the "services.jar" file to /system/framework.

Have you tested this? Here's what happened to me: I pushed the services.jar as instructed. Afterwards, my phone boots, but it takes about 5 minutes each time it reboots. But it does show the 6 bar signal meter. I only get to see it for about 10 seconds before my phone reboots again. It then just keeps going in a loop, rebooting.

Did you grant services.jar rw-r--r-- permissions, thats how I pushed it with rootexplorer?
Hope this helps you!

You guys are on the money. Download the pack, push services.jar. That will give you 6 bars. The 5 minute reboot is normal, and it should only happen the first time. Any jar changes will cause this.

I don't have any problems with the push. And I do get the 6 bars. The only problem is that my phone keeps rebooting, and it takes about 5 minutes EVERY TIME it reboots.
I'd feel much better if someone with SR3.3.1 will admit that the've done this successfully. Then I'd have some hope. Because I just tried this again this morning (for the 3rd time) and get the same results.

Okay. I personally hand coded the signal bar modification to the services.jar you are using. I made this for skyraider. I'm using it, with my uncommon pack, on skyraider without any issues.
Feel better?

But I'm not using the uncommon pack. Wasn't that what the OP's original post was about.?.just the signal meter WITHOUT the uncommon sense pack? I'm only installing the services.jar, and that is all. When did the thread subject change to include the uncommon sense pack?

We were discussing pulling services.jar from the pack, and using it by itself. I am certifying that it works. That's all.

I appreciate that, thanks.

Just to add one more confirmation:
To install this on SkyRaider 3.3.1:
1) Pull services.jar from the uncommon pack
2) Use Root Explorer to rename the old services.jar to services.bak (just in case)
3) Again with Root Explorer, copy/paste the new services.jar (/system/framework)
4) Long press the new file, select Permissions, then check Read/Write for User, Read for Group, and Read for Others. You could also chmod 644 using Terminal, I believe.
5) Reboot and be patient.
6) Enjoy!

Thank you. Your procedure is confirmed. It was my permissions that were not right. "lemaj5" actually mentioned this to me in an earlier post, and it went right over my thick head. Thanks again everyone, for being patient with me.

Would this work on a stock sense rom?

[GUIDE] How to customize a ROM

I've been getting a lot of messages asking, 'How do you create ROM's?' Well, I got so many I decided to make this. This process is called cooking a ROM.
The first thing you have to do is get a ROM that's already been created and signed that you'd like to change around. Make sure it's a signed update.zip. Then, you unzip the rom, and you should see directories, like data/ and system/. If you want to add/remove applications in the ROM, you would goto data/app/. In there you will find the apk's of files that will be pre-installed on the ROM. You can add or remove the apk's there. Another place for the apk's is in /system/app. You really shouldn't put new apk's in here, but you can remove the system apk's. So, if you wanted to remove Sprint TV, delete Sprint_tv.apk. Also, the apk's can be treated as zip's; you can unzip them and look inside, and if you wanted to, change around the icon's and stuff like that. After you are done changing around the ROM, you might want to edit the build.prop (This part is optional!) You would find it in system/build.prop. Look for a line that says 'ro.build.description='. You can edit that with the name of your ROM. When your all done, you would zip it all back up, and sign the update.zip. On windows, this is pretty easy. Download flipz pre-kitchen, and use a setting in tools called something like sign apk/update.zip. Navigate to where you put your rom, and sign it. Then, your rom should be ready to flash.
This is also a good post to read:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=551711
Notes:
*DO NOT* TRY TO FLASH A GSM ROM TO A CDMA HERO!
If you edited a apk, make sure to sign it before zipping it and signing the update.zip.
If you have any problems, I created a IRC channel for this, so I can give live support:
server: irc.bikcmp.info port 6667 (port 6670 for SSL)
channel #hero-cdma
If you don't have a IRC client, use mibbit:

Thanks for the guide, what I really like is the irc, I think we should have had one of these up for awhile now, it would help keep the clutter in the forums down.

What's even better is it's being DDoSed. . Anyone got a spare server? LOL.
But seriously, DDoS'es ARE NOT COOL.
Alright, I've got my ROM made and everything -- signed it as well. I put it on my SD Card, and its flashes successfully -- but now I'm stuck at the HTC Screen?
I took the battery out; went back into recovery and Wiped and formatted my SD Card, and flashed again (successful), but still stuck on HTC screen?
Any ideas?

I think this is crazy awesome to give a small how to on 'cooking' ROMS....I've always been interested! However what are DDoS'es....if it's all good to ask?
I don't have linux on my windows laptop...but do I need to get a dual boot/OS on my laptop to get this running. Last I knew, Linux and Windows were not friends...?

What ROM did you start with...? Did you do all kinds of crazy stuff to it? I found a ROM, downloaded it and opened it....saw a bunch of stuff in there that the OP described. Not quite sure what is game to pull and what is cool to add...?

Alright -- this is what I did.
1. I made a new folder called Penguin
2. Took Gumbo1.5c and unzipped it
3. Moved all the stuff from Gumbo to Penguin
4. Began removing apps I didn't want in /system/app
5. Added some apps in /data/app
6. Added a white taskbar to its respective dir
7. Added Espresso -- again to its respective dir
8. Added the 2.1 Icons
9. SIGNED the new zipped folder (Penguin) successfully
10. Copied to SD Card
11. Flashed successfully
12. When I reboot, I stuck at the HTC Screen (I waited about 2 and half minutes)
Steps I've taken to solve:
1. Removed battery
2. Wiped
3. Formatted card
4. Flashed again
5. Stuck again at HTC (again 2 minutes or so, until removing battery again)
5. Stuck again

DDoS is a denial of service attack. They are attacking my server and also my home network. I've got a lot of it cleared out, but still a lot of IP's doing it. Also, try Wubi for that Linux and windows issue.
Should you have waited longer than 2 and a half mins? I flashed Godzson Dialer and rebooted and it took 5 or 6 mins to boot, and when it did...I was happy.
Not sure if you took too much out or added something you shouldn't have, or just perhaps didn't wait long enough for it to boot.
...OH Wait, you mean that HTC symbol at the very begining..........gotcha now! I at least was on the nexus bootscreen when I waited.
Hope you get an awnser soon, I am looking forward to playing around and perhaps cooking up something good of my own

Here is a good list of Apps/Apks I found to help out some who don't know what to remove without causing a slew of FC's......if anyone knows of anymore that are safe, please keep this "How To" going strong!

Question....where would the respective 'dir' be for throwing 2.1 icons into a ROM while cooking...? data/apps?
I'm honestly trying to google all my questions as well as search this forums threads....but sometimes I don't get the answer I need

The directory that the 2.1 icons should go in is /system/app/
Lets say I want to change the Browser.apk icon. I would pull it, open it as a zip file, look for ic_laucher.png (or something of this sort) -- and replace this file with the newly created icon (has to be the SAME name as the original file), you'll copy this new "icon" into the original dir, overwriting the changes -- and that's it.

I waited 15 minutes and still nothing -- so I just did a nandroid. I'll work on it some more tomorrow.

What files exactly are you saying I should edit? I'm up for any ideas -- I'm definitely going to get this to work, I want to contribute damn it!!
I just downloaded a ROM and took some apks that were on the "SAFE" list to remove from the link in the above post. Replaced some apk files with the 2.1 icons....using the same name as the ones I replaces (so I'm not 'adding' anything new)
Renaming my ROM and then zipping it up to flash. (doing it now, and if that works....then I will play with it a little more and see how far I can get until it does not boot)
HOPEFULLY this boot with what I've just done....lol. I should, I've done nothing really...

[Theme] Blue Sense

By request I put together a blue theme for a friend so I figured i would share.
Every thing is stock sense except for a couple changes that were made to stock images.... all the green has been removed from framework-res.apk and com.htc.resources.apk and has been replaced with blue. I re-drew all the .9pngs and there should be no major bugs... if there is please let me know. Location icon was also removed.
This theme will work on any 2.1 based sense rom.

Sorry I've been busy working on putting together themes for the community. You want to put the zip file on your sdcard then boot into recovery. You can boot into recovery by holding the - volume button and then power when your phone is off then choosing the appropriate options on the bootloader screen. Once you get into recovery, select the choose zip from sdcard option and find the theme.
You must be rooted in order to apply. If you don't know how to flash a zip from recovery then you may need to do more reading before modding your phone. If you need more assistance than this, please donate and I will walk through the process via gtalk or gmail. Please don't post rude comments because haven't replied for a day.
Thank you that is all.

Yeah, my fault man. Thanks for your work. I'm not rooted & don't know how & don't know as much as I should about how to do all that stuff, so I don't guess I'll be using this theme. It's hard to learn just by reading when you don't know what a lot of stuff you're reading even means.
i just tried this. just noticed that you said you removed the location bullseye icon. you did, but it leaves a black space where it used to be. something else needs to be edited for the icon and the blank space to completely go away.

I dont pretend to know a lot about theming for Android, cause I dont, but can you replace the missing icon with a transparent blank image causing the black box to disapear and show the bar below it?
I understand it wont remove it completely but it might help for the black box he is seeing.

Have you loaded the theme up? His issue is the space the invisible icon takes up, there is no black box.

Download root explorer from the market. Download the .apk from the first post and place it on the root of your sdcard. Open root explorer and find the .apk you just placed on your sdcard and long press it and hit copy. The go to system>app and paste it there. It should replace the stock SystemUI.apk. Then reboot and you should have the green icons.
Thank You. Any info on maybe a segmented accurate battery mod? (Im sure their are a few floating around here, but thought I would post)

[MOD] MDPI Phone apk for CM9/AOKP 160dpi

I'm fairly new to the xda community... So I'm hoping this works for others like it worked for me. I tried about 20 different modded phone apks that were supposedly designed to work for 160dpi setting on AOKP and CM9 roms and I was just about to give up when I stumbled across one that actually works!!! Directions are pretty simple...
1. Download phone.apk file from below
2. move to root of sd card
3. In root explorer (or any file browser with root access) go to /system/app and rename original phone.apk to phone.apk.bak
4. Copy and paste new phone.apk in /system/app
5. Reboot phone and enjoy
No need to change app permissions to -rw-r--r--

It replaces the stock phone app... The stock phone app will crash on any LCD density below 200 dpi. This modded phone app will run on the lower densities so you can use the 160 dpi setting and still be able to make/receive phone calls without a FC error.

It's nothing major... Just a fix for a force close error when using the phone app on different LCD densities. A lot of ppl like the look of 160 dpi and 128 dpi (tablet mode) but you lose call functionality as a consequence... This fixes that issue.
Also... If you decide to return the phone to stock LCD density there's no need to revert back to the old phone apk... This one will work in all densities from 128-240 dpi. (I haven't tried anything larger than 240 yet... IDK why anyone would though )

thankyou so much! fixed my issue wondered why it kept crashing when it was lower than 200 lol
I'll try it out. That FC pop up gets annoyings as stopping and clearing data after every reboot gets annoying lol.
Does this permanently replace the stock phone apk?
I can't get anything to work. Not the rename, not the copy and past. Nothing.

Make sure the /system folder is mounted as read/write before you do this... If your file explorer app doesn't have the option to give you root access you can mount /system by using terminal emulator.
Use the following commands:
su
busybox mount -o remount,rw /system
[TROLL]You know, a flashable would really help [/TROLL]
Lol, jk, attached is a flashable, uses the same Phone.apk in the OP for those who's having trouble with the push process.
I personally haven't tested it, but it should help with those who are.
Thanks I'll give that a go. Can I flash this directly to the appropriate file or do I need to move it after flashing?

Flash it and it will replace whatever Phone.apk you have with the one in the OP.

Thanks for that! Yea I'm not quite skilled with these things as of yet... Hopefully I'll get there soon though.
The file flash fine, but I'm still experiencing a problem. Fortunately, I think I've narrowed down the problem to Wfi Calling. I started a new thread in search for an answer. Eith way, thanks for the effort guys!
Does this fix the issue where the slider to answer the call is off the screen?

Didn't find any working package so I started browsing the Android source.
I think I found the root of this problem:
https://github.com/AOKP/packages_apps_Phone/blob/ics/res/layout/incall_touch_ui.xml#L52
Code:
<!--
(1) incomingCallWidget: the UI displayed while an incoming call is ringing.
See InCallTouchUi.showIncomingCallWidget().
Layout notes:
- Use an opaque black background since we need to cover up
a bit of the bottom of the contact photo
- The verticalOffset value gets us a little extra space above
the topmost "Respond by SMS" icon
- [b]The negative layout_marginBottom shifts us slightly downward;
we're already aligned with the bottom of the screen, but we
don't have an icon in the downward direction so the whole
bottom area of this widget is just wasted space.[/b]
-->
<com.android.internal.widget.multiwaveview.MultiWaveView
android:id="@+id/incomingCallWidget"
android:layout_width="match_parent"
android:layout_height="wrap_content"
android:layout_alignParentBottom="true"
[b]android:layout_marginBottom="-46dp"[/b]
android:background="@android:color/black"
android:visibility="gone"
I guess this -46dp is too much and needs to be lowered a bit.
Downloading AOKP source right now and trying to rebuild the Phone.apk

Zip file not flashing
Hello! This is some great work on the battery mods, something I'd love to take advantage of. I'm trying to install the Neon collection, but the archive is not flashing.
I followed the instructions in the OP, copied the 100 battery files and the stat_sys_battery.xml into the systemUI.apk, then swapped it into the archive. I uploaded the new archive file to my Dropbox account, then downloaded it onto my Fire, rebooted into recovery (TWRP 2.1.1) and tried to install the Neon_with_Percentage_Mod.zip file. I keep getting an error that says "E:Unable to open zip file. Error flashing zip /sdcard/my_directory/Neon_with_Percentage_Mod.zip".
Do I need to use adb to manually push the archive file onto the Fire rather than passing it through my Dropbox account? Seems unlikely to be the cause of the problem, but I'm not sure what else the problem could be. Any thoughts?
EDIT: I just worked my way back through all the steps, and this time the flash was successful. However, now that I've rebooted into normal mode, there are no battery icons at all in the status bar - just the clock and the wifi signal indicator. I opened the /system/app/SystemUI.apk file and verified that the modifications (stat_sys_battery.xml and 100 battery image files) are indeed there, but for some reason they're not being picked up. I've tried using both the normal tablet statusbar and the quicknav tablet statusbar v2, but no battery icons show up anywhere, though the notifications pop-up contains the text percentage next to my network name. Any help would be much appreciated... Thanks in advance!

Yes, Jandycane. I'm now on 1.7.2, with Gapps from 7-26. I had given up since this post says it's discontinued, but if you know how to get this battery mod working that'd be great. Thanks!

Wow, that's very kind of you! I actually really like the "Neon Battery Mod with Percentage" mod from the OP here. It just didn't work when I put them into my SystemUI.apk file.

Great, thank you! What's the procedure with this? Just flash it, or do I need to follow the instructions in the OP to insert these images into SystemUI.apk?

I tried installing it twice, once just straight up, and the second time after wiping the cache and Dalvik cache. Got the same result for both, and the same thing as when I tried it initially a few days ago - no battery icon is visible at all now. This version of Jandycane has an option to have the percentage overlaid on top of the icon, and since I had that option enabled now all I can see is that number where the icon should be. What should I try next?

Maybe the sys_stats_battery.xml is messed up...

Before I started doing any of this I copied the original SystemUI.apk. I'm back on that original file now, so it should be the original sys_stats_battery.xml, too.
So...any thoughts, or am I just plain stuck?
