Hi,
I was wondering if there was any way to get a password from the standard android browser as i have forgotten what the password is but it is still remembered by the phone. Are there any plugins I can get or anything like that? And root apps that might do it for me?
Thanks in advance

I don't understand in the thread - what do I have to do?
1, You must be rooted.
2, Install SQLite Editor from Play Store
3, Open app, wait until all apps are listed
4, Tap Internet -> webview.db -> password
5, All your passwords stored in default web browser should be listed there
I just tested it on my Desire S, and found my stored facebook password
Thanks, what is the easiest way to root my htc desire s? S-on 2.3.5 and latest hboot i think
If you are not rooted yet, it's irrelevant to root now, because you will loose all your data during downgrade and rooting.
Check my signature btw, i was also downgrading from latest RUU, S-ON, LOCKED, same as you.
But you have no reason to do it now, because as i said, you will loose your data.
Maybe temprooting and then installing the mentioned app would work.
But im not sure.
It's worth try in my oppinion. By temprooting you will not loose anything. After rebooting the phone, it will be in it's previous state, untouched...
As i said, check link in my sig.
The 1st step, but don't push misc_version, you don't need to when you are not going to downgrade.. Push just zergrush, or tacoroot, depending on your SW version.
Better wait for someone more experienced, as im still prety new here, and don't want to make brick of your phone.
Thanks - but I think I have found a guide: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1390496 What do you think to this?
Big No No, from me.
Someone in that thread commented and said, that you have first to unlock your phone via htc-dev unlock. Unlock the phone officialy via htc site and according to their manual steps.
What does it mean to you ? You have to put your IMEI on the website, so they're absolutely sure, that you have been trying something with your phone and you loose your warranty. There's no step back.
Temprooting on the otherside, as the title say is temporary. After reboot, it's gone. In my oppinion - ideal for you. But i don't have unrooted desire s to test if SQLite will work.
---------- Post added at 07:16 AM ---------- Previous post was at 07:10 AM ----------
Alternatively you can try this. Also picked from mentioned thread.
No rooting or anything. Just don't forget to turn USB debugging on.
1,Setup AndroidToolsSDK on your PC

2, Proceed following steps

I have already had my phone htc-dev unlocked in the past while trying to root before this tool was released. Would it now be ok to use?
And I would quite like to have my phone fully rooted

The tool works with my phone I think and it won't wipe my data. Would there be any reason to downgrade?

I thought that you mean this as "fully rooted".
Since not just flash custom recovery and then use SuperOneClick to push Su and Superuser app, or search for a flashable zip. This will give you root.

Because with the stock you will not be able to flash the su binary. Custom recovery has root access by default, contrary to your current one and the OS itself.
You can use zergrush from the guide you posted above but this approach involves more manual steps. Anyway each if the mentioned ways will give you the same result it is up to you to decide what will be easier to do for yourself
Btw Superoneclick automates zergrush and the su flashing so search for it. I think this is the most straightforward method

Yes, sorry for the messy explanation but there are a really lot of ways to root your phone.
If you use the Superoneclick you will permanently root your device with one button click. This is an application for Windows, just search xda for it
Edit: you bootloader should be unlocked to do this, so I hope you did not relocked it

Download and install it, then connect the deice as it is in the OS. Make sure that USB debugging is enabled in settings. Then select ZergRush from the dropdown menu on the right and click on the "ROOT" button. The app will do the rest and you will have root
Here is the direct download link if you have hard time to find it

This will make a folder and copy several files (that will grant the root access) to your system. If something fails you will remain unrooted at worst

Go to htcdev.com and follow the instructions to unlock your bootloader
You'll need software version 1.54 or higher tho, you can check in Menu>Settings>About Phone>Software Information
If you have a lower version than 1.54, than you need to update with this RUU:
swtesting.ro/alex/downloads/ruu_chacha_htc_asia_wwe_1.57.707.2_radio_47.23.35.3033h_7.51.35.19_release_228383_signed.zip
To update with this RUU, you'll need a goldcard:
theunlockr.com/2010/03/10/how-to-create-a-goldcard/
..then you are good to go with htcdev unlock
After that, search "everything for chacha" in the forum and you'll find instructions how to easily root your chacha I know it's long winded, but it's worth it

Hi,
There are several ways to do this now.
Look HERE
HERE
Or use THIS TOOLKIT
Or THIS ONE
Thank you guy, even if i've already seen these threads.
The fact is my bootloader is locked but i've got the S-OFF.
Unfortunately, i still cannot install a recovery in order to root my Sensation XE.
I should have been more clearly: i just want to root my phone in order to make a backup with titanium backup (i don't want to lose my apps data).
Then, i would install an older RUU to backup my phone and S-OFF with revolutionarry.
So, there is an other way to root my phone (permanent root ain't necessary).
I dont wan't to lose my warrantly with HTC dev unlock either.

Download this: http://tinyurl.com/ICSHboot
Download my tool. It's in my signature. Follow all the instructions from the thread, but don't run any file.
Go to the tools folder inside the main folder of my tool, & paste the jb_hboot.zip file that you downloaded.
From inside the tools folder, run the file boot.bat
Once done, reboot to bootloader.
You should now have *JuopunutBear* instead of *locked*
If you only want root, then just follow all instructions from my tool thread and run the menu.bat as stated in the instructions. Make the appropriate choices & you'll have permanent root.

check my one click ROOTING TOOL present in the guide in my signature ..it just requires SOFF..no recovery needed too..and bootloader status doesn't matter
just connect your phone ..and then double click ..the required file(root.bat)
that's all you are rooted
EDIT:you can even use kgs tool for the same process too
It's getting wierd...
@ganeshp Hi man! I checked your thread yersterday and i didn't see that there was a rooting tool!
Unfortunately, the process worked perfectly ("EVERYTHING DONE..ROOT SUCCESS...ONE FINAL REBOOT NOW") but titanium backup or other apps which required root tell me that I'm not rooted..
I noticed that each time super user refuse root/super user access to these apps, i don't know. And yes i tried to change superuser automatic answer to "allowed" or "ask me".
@kgs1992 Thanks you. I tried it but when i launch boot.bat it tells me "waiting for device" (i tried to plug my phone in HTC sync mode too).
So then i tried to root with your tool and even if it tells me that the process succeed, titanium backup tell me that i'm not rooted.. Same problem as i said to ganeshp.
I'm a little but confuse now

Well if SU installed, then you are rooted.
You need to reboot to bootloader before running boot.bat
Yes, SU is installed but it does'nt grant root access to my applications!

This time i got "Error: ADB failure".
You must have something like Windows firewall or HTC synch still installed,
They both give issues with adb.
If you have Norton installed as antivirus it must be uninstalled... It always messes up adb
Check and make sure there are no traces of htc synch, not even the installer....And reboot the computer
To verify adb is working before running moonshine again..
Hold shift and right click inside empty space of fastboot folder and choose
'Open command prompt here'
Then type
adb devices
It should return serial number of your device
Do this now and tell me yes or no

With this module you can now have full RW on the /system while Booted into the OS
Thank you for the heads up man!!
Thanks! Worked great! Was able to uninstall all the bloat without having it come back on reboot.
I was able to remove the bloat without doing this. I have s-off and am rooted. Doesn't having s-off grant us this anyway?

Oh snap! Ok sending donation as soon as I get on my laptop!
Has anyone yet provided a step by step video by chance? I know nothing about adb stuff as I've never had to use it so reading the firewater instructions I'm a little lost :/. Haven't tried installing weak sauce root either yet, is this easy or a video? I believe i need weak sauce root installed first? Then S-Off, then I install twrp? How would I install twrp and after I do install does it then install full root then can delete weak sauce?
I'm sorry I know this literally was release an hour ago but just hate to brick my device out of ignorance and not knowing. Appreciate any help for someone like me that doesn't use adb or sure of the methods and steps here.
I believe a few people are working on videos as we speak. Should be done soon.

Oh snap! Ok sending donation as soon as I get on my laptop!
Has anyone yet provided a step by step video by chance? I know nothing about adb stuff as I've never had to use it so reading the firewater instructions I'm a little lost :/. This community and it's members/devs are freaking amazing! Thank you!
cant get it to work how did some one do it
has anyone tried to flash the kernel yet?
It looks like we have R/W access without doing this after firewater. I've added/removed stuff from /system without any issues(apps, priv-apps, stuff from the media resources, etc)
edit: I've done probably 20 reboots with no issues along the way of modding stuff and still everything is fine.

really did it stick after boot?
edit
nevermind you answer is in your edit
You do not need this kernel mod after you have S-off'ed and perm rooted.
I have personally tested this. All system changes survived hard reboot (via adb reboot)

Hi. I am a noob at rooting. Which of your unlocking and rooting method should I use for a Verizon HTC DNA that is updated to its current version of Kit-Kat? Firewater? I just did a factory reset for a fresh start. I have not installed any "user apps." Basically it is cleaned. This is my first at rooting a phone, but I have rooted Kindle Fire once. I do know about the warranty. I would also like to know a method to unroot as well incase I want to go back for any reason. Need help as soon as possible.

No, I have not started on anything because not sure what the first step is. Sorry for my question. I have been looking online, including youtube for the answer. I most likely find how-tos that are outdated and wasn't sure if they would still work.

Ok thank you. I am assuming that is my first step. Do I need to set up or install anything on laptop before i press unlock bootloader? Do I need to come back to get more of your directions or is that it?

Unlocking the bootloader is fully guided on HTCdev.com. You will need more steps like installing a custom recovery and a superuser app using the custom recovery. If your not sure about what to do, you can use Teamviewer and i will perform unlocking / rooting for you
This toolkit may also help you WinDroid HTC Toolkit
