ROM FEATURES :victory:
Awesome Beats Equalizer
Sony Walk Man Music App
Lastest CyanogenMod 9 Base
Bottom statusbar
Hybird/Tablet and Phone Mode
Apollo Music App
No need to flash Gapps
This is an ongoing developer project to make way for a modification that will entirely transform your device, but retain the aesthetics and the experience of your phone. I know you've seen tablet mode roms before, and indeed it's a start, but this ain't enough. This thing has potential, but it is wasted the moment you try to stuff a full blown tablet into your poor phone. Yet we all know our high res phones can very well handle more than silly 1-column layouts. So the magic must be in between somewhere, a place that Google must have overlooked and left blank.
Yes, this rom strives to drop your device into tablet mode, but it won't stop there, it will reshape and redefine ICS to make it all a usefull addition and not just a cute novelty. Team PA is calling it: Hybrid Mode, best of both worlds.
- P.A.L., First time in Android history that Per-App-Layout has been realized. This rom features a setting called Per-App-Density. You can define an apps native DPI
with it, make it look stock, smaller or bigger than that, your decision. All apps are depicted at DPI 240 per standard. No other ROM has that feature right now!!
- Google Play does not allow density changes and will stop working if you mess around with that. This rom fixes that problem for you 100%.
- More stuff: Recents window closer to stock, fixes for overlapping elements, framework fixes, no crashes, working Phone (looks 100% like stock aswell), etc.
1. Right on Inital Setup after the from boots and you click next. It' going to ask to acitave your phone and if you dont your calls, texts and data will not work (NOT TRUE) just press skip then home button when it shows up again hit skip then press home button.
2. WiFi doesn't work on boot reboot it will work then.
3. Data doesn't work.
4. USB doesn't work.
5. When going to system settings > about phone it force closes.
6. ParanoidBackup app force closes
7. NO CAMERA
8. Anything that's not under working. You guys will find more bugs.
1. Save the Zip files for the CM9 ROM and also the Google Apps (gapps) to your phone's SD Card.
2. Reboot your phone into Touch TWRP 2.1.3 (Yes, with touch). If you don't know how to do that or don't have it, go here: http://androidforums.com/triumph-all-things-root/551196-recovery-twrp-2-1-3-yes-touch.html
3. In TWRP Wipe Factory Reset, Cache, Dalvik Cache, and System.
4. After wiping Factory Reset, Cache, Dalvik Cache, and System. Press back button.
5. Press Install then scroll up after that select zip. Swipe to Confirm Flash.
6. Reboot and Enjoy!

What exactly is the point of the Tablet rom? The settings layout? Just wondering, I'm new to roms and haven't experienced this yet.

No you don't have to use TWRP. Yes Hybird mode works? It's working when you first boot up.

Nice bro! I am gonna flash now!
I am confused here. I see a statement that says the phone will tell you "text and data will not work" followed by a "(Not true)", which leads me to believe "text and data" will work. I then see "3. Data doesn't work." listed in the "doesnt work" section. To add to this, In the list of working features, I see "-data usage accounting". How do you account for data that does not work.
I have re-read this multiple times to avoid making a stupid reply, but please help me, I am lost! Does data work on this rom?

I would love help fixing the camera and turning this into a flashable ROM. Additonally, there may be more APKs that can be deleted but it works like this so I don't want to mess with it.
Additionally, if anyone has any of the Galaxy S 4 and 5 specific apps, I would love to see if we could integrate them into this.

Very interesting idea, I can take the cell related stuff out of the notification bar as well. I can help you package it all up later tonight when I get off work. Maybe even get the camera working
That would be great. I will not be home until later tonight, but would love to see how we can package this up and make sure everything works. I also want to run some battery tests to see what the usuable life is like.

The goal was to remove all cellular features including emergency calls so that it would operate purely as a media device. This way I could give it to a child to use as a media player without having to worry about them figuring out how to turn the call features on etc.

Ah, I didn't catch that part. Sounds like a worthwhile endeavor then.
great job and great idea. I'll be watching this thread closely. if it becomes a flashable zip, I can totally see this getting popular as people start upgrading their devices.
Great idea. I wouldn't use it, at least until I get a newer phone, but a great idea.
Or maybe just remove the sim card?
I saw this being discussed in an earlier thread, the problem with taking the sim out is it still allows for 911 calls to be made and with a child having it anything could happen.

I really like this idea and will likely do this someday.
I wonder if you could just freeze those apps with TiBu... seems like it would work too. That way it is quickly undoable. (is that a real word?) LOL
GPS not working...
Long story short....I now have a work phone and ported my personal cell to Google Voice. I now have a Captivate that I don't have service for. I would love to use it for a PMP and my golf GPS (Using GolfShot). I installed Captivate Touch, Cognition Edition v2.0 - KB1 2.2 by DesignGears from your thread in the development section. I was unable to get GPS to work. So I decided to install Serendipity 6.4 and remove the APK's myself. Still no GPS. Anyone have any thoughts on how to get GPS to work again?

Installed the update. Still not working, only now it is worse than before.
It still wouldn't allow me to switch apps, it still didn't launch on phone boot up, but now the update prevented me from being able to install apps from the Amazon App Store. I'd hit the install button after the app had downloaded, but it wouldn't register the button press. I could hit the cancel button though just fine. Play Market apps installed just fine. As soon as I Force Stop Fast5, I cold install apps from Amazon just fine.
Very weird. It works perfectly on my device (SGS2) and my friends devices and all emulator devices (2.1+) and i do not get other complains... what's going on?
Have you installed custom rom or something? Do you see all 5 icons? After pressing nothing happens? Or an error?
I would understand if you'd get some errors, but if it's not booting with the device? There is no way it won't boot at normal device configuration...
Thank you for you cooperation!
Have a look...:

I think it's isolated issue but I'll try to fix it for you if you'd like to use this app . Wain for report (if you sent it)

Yep it's a switcher. Will change topic name, sorry. But it works fine for you, right?
It works now on ICS too. There should be a new version active on the market within 1 hour (as always). There was one issue. Fixed.
I will test it. Great job
Edit: "error process buy" say my market
Defy > Defy+
Sorry my bad english
Error process buy? Lol... it's free. Did you try do it from the PC? Market kinda buggy thing. Thanks!
I had no problems with installation nor application so does my friends .
Updated version has been released. Should be working fine for everyone, regardless of Android version (2.1 +).
Try it
the update fixed task-clicking on ICS
- could you please add #111111 as an background color option? that's the color used by android for notification backgrounds
- when opening notification area the icons reorder after like 1-2 seconds. I guess that's because the app isn't running in bg permanently but it's still quite annoying, especially when you're just about to hit one of the icons and then it gets replaced with a adifferent one
- is it possible to have more than 5 apps? (yeah yeah, then the name wouldn't make sense anymore, but...) there's so much whitespace between the icons, it'd well fit 7 of them
Sure. No problem. Download an updated version (should appear on the market within one hour) and tell me if you'd like something more. Everyone else too . I'll see what i can do.
As for 7 icons instead of standard 5 on really large screens: could you please send me an email or post me here if you don't mind everyone looking how do it looks on your screen?
Thanks!
thanks for adding ICS color.
for large screen: just turn your phone 90° to widescreen and you can see it for yourself
any idea about the slow updating?
Check out the newest update (v 1.08). Tick a checkbox in preferences, restart an app and see if that fits your needs . As for more than 5 icons - i'll figure it out if you want to
Cheers!
seems good so far. will report back after some more usetime when it's got a bit more to do than show low-memory-apps what does the checkbox do? start a persistant service?
could you please close the notification bar when selecting an app? always makes me think the click wasn't registered.
No, it just shortens update time . Don't worry if it works right . As for notification: will put an option to do so shortly.
Cheers!
This app blocks the 3rd Party App Install on my device (Motorola Defy). You can still press the cancel button, but the install button has no function.
Tested it on a custom CM7 Version and on a Official CM7 Version(with fullwipe).
Hi there.
I am experiencing some unexplained behaviour of my phone. When I call someone (outgoing call) the screen sometimes goes immediately off and I can't seem to wake it up. No matter what button I press (home, volume, search, power, down...) only back light of the buttons lights When this happens (not all the time) I have two options: either I take the battery out or I use another phone and call my number and phone screen wakes up.
I've noticed that this started after I've installed Sipdroid At least so I thought. So I've removed Sipdorid but behavior is the same. Untill that point I was using mik_os I went to #cyanogenmod and they suggested me to install a new ROM. If i still had the problem I should ask here on xda forums. So I've installed official cyanogenmod - stable rom (CM 7) with latest gapps. After installation I had to flash old baseband version since I under about phone there was no Broadband info and I had no service. After installation of baseband version I was able to get service but I'm still confronting problems when outgoing calls sometimes.
Video of outgoing call and screen turning off.
Do you need me to post complete logcat after screen turns off?

I did enable it but it didn't help. Note that when I call someone screen is completely off and when call is going and I try to press some buttons no back light is present.
i had a kind of similar problem..not after call but when i used to lock my device and then press any button, screen was like not coming seemed like it didn't waked but soon i realized it was brightness problem kind of when i set brightness more than dim i had no problem..
Use a custom kernel not based on the cm kernel
Eg. ta-kernel 1.1 (my personal favourite)
I also have this bug in all cm based kernels.

I will try your suggestion. But just to make it sure I recorded the video so you guys can see what I'm exactly talking about. Also isn't this odd that when using mik_os kernel (I don't if it is even CM based or not) this started to be a problem after one year? Is it possible that my microSD card is corrupt, that I should repartition it or anything like this?
Video
Thank you Free.rockstar and akashgupta222 for your suggestions.
EDIT: I partitioned SD card (2GB capacity): 512 MB ext, 0 MB swap problem is still there. I'm going to install ta-kernel 1.1 as akashgupta222 suggested and see what happens.
akashgupta222$ Eg. ta-kernel 1.1 (my personal favourite)
I feel so newbiesh atm. I've installed Gingersnap 2.3 rom because I saw Candied-kernel v2.5.6 ta vsync xz
But then I went to read about Candied kernel and I saw that it is based upon cyanogenmod kernel :|
akashgupta222, can you please provide me link to the ta kernel? Or any kernels that has worked for you and you didn't get black screen? Also can you provide me the rom that you used with tose kernels?
I'd be much grateful if you do so.

This build will effectively be turned from i337M to i337 once the AT&T bootloader is (publicly) unlocked. This is what we've done w/ our d2att-d2tmo build (it's for d2att, d2tmo & d2can respectively), except this time tmo gets their own build.
Also if anybody is actually running the latest CM nightly, could you confirm that reboot is indeed working under all circumstances? I'm able to reboot fine but no dice when plugged in charging.

So far smooth as butter! Screen resolution makes everything so tiny though.

Also if anybody is actually running the latest CM nightly, could you confirm that reboot is indeed working under all circumstances? I'm able to reboot fine but no dice when plugged in charging.

Mine just rebooted fine while plugged into the wall charger on 20130510.
And on usb into computer... worked fine too.
Not sure if usb debugging would change anything
Edit: nevermind, just tried with developer settings on and off, no difference.
All works fine here ^^
cannot wait for the bootloader to be unlocked at the end of the month! Hard to watch the days go by so slowly...slimbean is one of my favorite ROMs...
All seems to be great for beta release. Much appreciated. Keep up the great work
Great Beta Rom!!! No complaints... thanks

I've been using this all day. Battery life is fantastic. Great work!!! One minor bug, when I connect by Bluetooth to the car, no issues. However, when I receive a call and answer, I cannot hear the person calling me and they cannot hear me. When I disconnect the Bluetooth, everything is working again. Thanks.
In call bluetooth and headset were the only things I haven't been able to test myself. Will test with a bluetooth transmitter tomorrow though and report back.
Also I too have had fantastic battery life. Looks like about an hour extra screen on time over my s3.

Let me introduce this tiny, beautiful, Holo themed app for rebooting your device!
If you have a stock, rooted device without power menu options, this app is for you! If you have a modded device,
but its annoying to push buttons, this app is for you! If you want to keep your device' buttons in save, this app is for you!
Features:
Reboot device
Soft reboot device
Reboot device with delay
Reboot recovery
Reboot fastboot/download mode
Power off
The app works only on rooted devices.
Network access is used only for ads.
If the app won't reboot your device into recovery, tick 'Use busybox' function in Settings menu.
Altough mostly all devices and ROMs support rebooting to recovery, it can be that your devies or ROM doesn't.
The type of the recovery (stock/CWM/TWRP) also affects the functionality.
Delaying before reboot is for letting the system close the running processes.
'Delay reboot' and 'Use busybox' functions require busybox with 'reboot' applet, installed in system/bin or system/xbin folder.
The app automatically recognises Samsung devices and switches to Download mode, otherwise Fastboot mode is active.
If you have a Samsung device but download mode doesn't get active, you can force it from the Settings menu.
The app is compatible with Android 4.0 up to 4.3.
Use this app on your own responsibility. The developer is not responsible for any software damage or data loss.
Get it from Play!

This looks like a pretty cool app and I'd like to give it a whirl. However, I may be getting confused in my old age but I don't see a download link.
This really looks nice for a new app, though the function is very generic. I support you
If you are well versed and wanted to make this app more useful, I hope you would consider booting to recovery and flash multiple zip packages like cyandelta except it doesn't have to flash any CM stuffs, just need to send flash command for pre defined packages. This would turn the app into a kind of boot automation app, which would be so much cooler.

Thanks for your reply, i'll consider your suggestion. Now i'm working on scheduled rebooting, but I have my exams, so the developing is going slowly. After a couple of weeks i'll have more time.
Hi,
Some kind of widgets would be nice. A widget with pre chosen function and a widget with a popup where user can choose action.

Yes, widgets are great idea. I was thinking about too! In the future widgets and scheduling are the main developing directions.

I think people will not reboot all the time, don't they?

I designed this app for people who has a ROM (stock or not) without reboot options in the power menu. For them, this can be a useful app.
For me, developing this app is a good experience, to start with the whole android stuff.

Hello medwe27
I found the application update on Google Play.
The Italian language is included! :highfive:
There is only one small problem:
In the restart confirmation box the character "à" is not correctly displayed.
(is shown "Ā")
Thanks again for your work
Have a nice evening
