Video Focus - HTC One S

Anyone else just getting ridiculous refocusing while recording? Any tips? The recording seems a bit of a let down compared to my HTC Amaze.

In low light environment, yes the auto focus is not robust and sometimes I have to manually tap the screen to get the video clear. In bright light, it's fine. I have never used Amaze so no comparison here but I am overall happy with my one s's video shooting capability.

Help with camcorder quality

It helped out a little doing that but i hope i can find a good camera app. T-Mobile said its just the camera my friend s4g looks the same. That's a shame mytouch camera looks way better at night.

I don't know what your setup is, but you may want to post this in your rom's thread to see if others experience the same...

You sure you're not covering the light sensor with your finger while on landscape mode?

I actually had this happen to me earlier today, I'm running the new CoinDroid and after I watched a youtube video my screen brightness went all the way down.

Same thing happens to me on the most popular ROMs too. No workarounds at the moment.
I believe is a bug within the YouTube app

Camera Night Issues

Hi guys,
Am facing an issue while clicking pics at night. I have uploaded a sample pic and as u see all the lights create an issue. Could someone pls tell what the issue is and why it's caused and how to resolve it?
Sent from my HTC One X using xda app-developers app
Wow thats bad.. I'd turn auto ISO off switch to the lower settings and take the photo while shooting video. That should fix it. Its as if the camera is adjusting between the lights and the night sky.
Sent from my HTC One X using xda premium
You might try another phone too. Mine had that issue tpp

So is this a hardware issue?
Sent from my HTC One X using xda app-developers app
Might sound silly but it really looks like your lens might be dirty. Might want to give that a check just in case.
Sent from my HTC One X using xda app-developers app
I don't think so. Here is a pic during day time. Day pics are awesome. It's the night ones
Sent from my HTC One X using xda app-developers app
It's nothing dude, just the visible souls of the objects that you are photographing.
Hey. Change replace your phone. Odds are there is a scratch on the optic causing the stars. I got that info talking to a buddy of mine who is a professional photographer.

It may be a dirty or scratched glass. You won't notice it in the daylight as much. The actual lens inside focuses past the glass, but at night that will create a really soft image like yours.

Thnx guys. Going to atnt to have the device replaced. Hope they do it

Disable auto focus?

Hi, I'm using the HTC One S S4 and was wondering if there was any way to disable auto focus?
Easy:
Settings (in camera app) > Camera Options > uncheck Auto focus.
My HTC One S doesn't have auto focus in the settings and yes I'm positive I have went through the entire settings of the phone
Sent from my HTC VLE_U using xda premium
I don't get the question. You have auto focus and touch focus...what other option did you want...its a phone camera after all, not a dslr.

What do you mean, you don't have?
One S camera has auto focus and that is that, you can turn it on or off and that's it.

Not to be a prick but if you don't read what I'm saying then read again. There is nothing in my settings about auto focus.

Yeah I've not got auto focus option either I'd like to be able to turn it off for video recording.

Trickdroid Rom has the autofocus option. Im not sure if its part of sense or a mod but i know that the autofocus option is not available in the stock Rom.

Because when you turn off auto focus it puts the lens into a wide fixed focus so everything but really close like macro shots are clear without messing about.

You tap your screen. Disabling AF is exactly like on DSLR-s, but instead of moving the focus ring you tap on your screen where you want to focus. It's somewhat weird that this feature can not be turned off, because sometimes it's really dumb and focuses god knows where.
I think that AF is not the correct name here, but you get my point. I want to choose my own focus point and disable the camera from changing it as it pleases.

YouTube Brightness Bug?

My screen brightness is great and working, but when I try to watch a YouTube video in full screen and High Quality, the brightness drops, which never used to happen. Any fixes?

This a known issue with the ICS update. No way to fix it. The only way I got around it was flashing CM9.

Sense 4 doesn't have this issue. It's another alternative.
