Try using 000000 or 123456 to see if either of those unlocks it. Supposedly these generic codes will unlock it.
Hi Guys,
same problem here. Dismiss button is working until new network registration. 000000 or 123456 codes are not working for me.
It is asking me now, just after I changed the SIM card (same number, just dead old one). No problem before... Any suggestions?
Thanks

I am new to xda. I haven't ran into a problem yet that i couldnt find a solution to....UNTIL NOW!!!
I have an incredible 2. It is rooted, and DID have a cm7 OS. Today, differentPps on my pho.e kept opening and then being foreclosed. Naturally, I rebooted my phone to see if that would fix the foreclosing problem. However, THE REBOOT MADE PROBLEMS WORSE. Now, my phone shows "no service." It shows "unknown baseband," "unknown phone number" and won't receive/send texts/calls. I can only use WiFi to use the internet. I tried factory reset, (through cm7 and the phone itself) I also tried downloading a new radio and cm9. Help NEEDED ASAP!!!! WHAT ELSE CAN I DO?!!

Yes, I've tried a couple times.
Try
Try hard resetting, which means clearing all data, and wiping cache (if it is that bad)
or
Try doing some of the previous steps again....
Hope It helps
I have same type of problem but after trying these instructions, I found the solution of the problem. Simply try them step by step and you will get results.

Tried hard resetting, wiping dalvik cache and cache partition. Still nothing.
However, slight change- after setting it back to stock, switched it over to cm7.2. Now, I have the roaming indicator flashing, but still cannot make calls or send texts. Before, while trying a new Tom, it would bring me to the same point, ^ but when I would select regular reboot, it would put me back with "no service."
It may happens.
Restart your phone and try then.

It happened to my sim card..no idea why..I was flashing different rooms and modems but finally swapped sim just to test ( I didn't really think that sim would be the culprit) but it worked on different..no idea as to why sim stopped working.

So I started today feeling a little creative so I flashed the newest MIUI ROM, there was a data issue that I tried to work out and in the end screwed everything up.
I lost signal but I have data.
I have tried probably 10 ROMs and the same has happened, I am getting a roaming sign, but it shows I have bars (I am connected to a wireless repeater so full service all the time on 3g).
What in the world do I do? I've seriously tried everything. I flashed back to stock through ODIN and nothing still.
PLEASE tell me someone has seen heard this problem... WHAT DO I DO?
Thanks in advance...
Go to settings - about phone - status and tell us if your IMEI is a bunch of zeros or a string of numbers.

It's not I its still the right one, that was something I checked... I considered doing a IMEI restore anyway and maybe that would fix the problem but I still definitely have it there. Thanks

How I Fixed It
Hey there. Not sure if your still having this problem, but I ran into the same issue with my new phone after rooting, unlocking bootloader, and flashing MIUI. To fix it, I had to odin to stock (Pre-Jellybean for the Samsung Utility), which I got from here: http://hotfile.com/dl/169363562/8975152/SCH-I535_VZW_I535VRALG1_I535VZWALG1.zip.html%20
Then I ran the Samsung Repair Utility from here: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1867442&page=18
The Samsung Repair Utility said my ERI was present and my IMEI was accurate per the back of my phone. Desperate, I ran the "Repair ERI" anyway which made no difference until I followed the OP's directions to dial the code to run the factory reset if the tool didn't work. That seemed to do the trick :victory:
Good Luck.
I did a full wipe and flashed the CM10.1 nightly released for the d2vzw this morning. When it rebooted I had no cell service. Looking in settings i have the proper IMEI number but my cell number is listed as 000-000-1361, MIN is 1361, PRL is 1. what can I do to fix it? I tried restoring a nandroid but the result is the same. Any help would be greatly appreciated!

Any one try Odin back to stock?
I have a similar issue and I have been going around and around with it without any luck. I restored my latest backup and I still have 000-000-3257 with a PRL of 1. I will try the ops recommendation and will report back.
Odin to stock is my next move unless someone else can think of something else to try.
Try clearing dalvik cache in recovery. Fixed it for me on AOKP. Had the exact same thing where my phone number was a bunch of zeroes. Still had service though when I hit the home button to bypass the activation screen.

I tried to remove the sim, and boot, and readd the sim and boot but no go. I will try it again but then I think I am going back to stock to see if that works.
Everything still works fine. No need to get worried......it just doesn't report your phone number accurately. Its not like it actually effects functionality. I ran it with an f'ed phone number for 3 days. Everything ran fine. Don't sweat it. If its a problem, wait until tomorrows official nightly comes out tonight and you'll be set.

My issue is it is affecting my functionality. My phone is not working and whenever I call out I get a generic message saying my phone is not active.
I restored a backup from when I first rooted. Now my phone number is listed properly and when I get into a 4G coverage area I can get data, but I still can't call out and it shows I am roaming when I am in a 3G area.
OP on CM10.1 says that dirty flashing Unofficial 10.1 build 12/17/12 will restore data. Any luck with this fix?

I was very unlucky and the dirty flash didnt work for me. However, I did have a backup of my IMEI and was able to flash it back to my phone.
I ran into the same problem after flashing 10.1... lost IMEI and stuck on roaming, had no backup.
To fix it i did the following
1) Odin back to stock
2) use this tool http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1867442
3) reprovish the phone using this code in the dialer *2767*3855#
IMEI restored and no longer on roaming

THANK YOU!. I could not get the IMEI/ERI tool to work, but I did get *2767*3855# code to work. I had to roll back to a older version of the official rom (I think rolling back the radio would have been OK) but I am not up and working.

I flashed back to stock as well and then used the same number to reprovision. After that everything worked fine it fixed the roaming, incorrect number, PRL, and all. I never lost my IMEI so I didnt do that step. but if you flash back to the cm 10.1 before they fix the data it will happen again

I can't remember for sure, but I think that is something that the VZW tech had me do, and it didn't work. Maybe someone else who is having the issue can test and comment.

Hi I posted this on another forum but got no solution. Thought I would re-post here to see if anyone here can help.
I've been trying to figure this one out all day. I updated to Cyanogenmod 10.1 from 10 and since the upgrade I've lost my net work. My service bars are there with the roaming notification. I can't make calls or connect to data. I've done the following to try to fix:
Restored from backup
flashed different radios
Odin restore to stock (Jellybean)
Odin restore to original stock
Rerooted
Unlocked bootloader
Flashed cyanogenmod
I've also repaired my ERI using the Samsung repair tool.
After all this I have gotten no where so I must ask for advise. Along with flashing I've done complete factory resets as well. Any thoughts? Thanks
Did you even try looking at ops whole page for help?

alright, this is getting very frustrating. I'm having the same stupid problem being stuck in roaming/no data. The only solution I find to fix this problem is to go to stock and then dial *2767*3855#....I flashed to stock, I try the number, but am then told by the operator that if I wan't to place a call, I need a credit card blah blah blah blah. Seriously, let's get a solution to this.

this is not the only solution. after u flash CM10.1 If you remove ur sim card and boot up and connect via wifi, u can then register and set up the phone. then shut down put sim card back in and boot up. go to system settings -> More... under wireless and networks -> mobile networks -> CDMA subscription and choose RUIM/SIM (NOT NV)
This should now let the ur phone have access to the network and get rid of the roaming issue.
Thanks

I searched everywhere to find a the stock 4.04 rom (that wasn't a zip) I could odin in and fix and I had already gone back to the stock 4.1.1 - I didn't know about 4.0 at the time. When I saw your post, I flashed on slimbean 4.3 and before booting I removed the sim, checked the RUIM box, rebooted and profited. Thanks for the post.- even if it was about a year old...
So...I went ahead and flashed the Dec 24th official 10.1 release with data working. I flashed with TWRP and it went smoothly. I couldn't activate the phone because it was stuck in roaming. I tried what ever I could do but could not get out of it. So I resorted back to full stock from verizon locking and un-rooting. Did that and I also flashed a stock radio. Still cannot get out of roaming mode.
Any suggestions? Kind of in desperate need of data to get a working phone!
Thanks in advance. I'm sure this problem has come up among many of you.

I thought flashing "[OFFICIAL]CM10.1 Official Nightlies for D2VZW GSIII (12/24 Official Data Works)" was the latest one. How would I go about "fixing" the mobile settings? via the settings menu? I cannot access that menu if I need to go there. I need to get past the activation screen. Also I am not so sure on performing the four corners trick in order to get past that screen.
thanks

I didnt see a responce from here but ill do my best, flash back to the stock ROM using ODIN and you should be put back into the operating system still in roaming mode then you dial *2767*3855# as soon as you hit the # your phone will download a file and re-provision itself which will fix the roaming error.
