Hello,
I bought an Desire S with an cracked LCD Display.
So Replaced the LCD, and booted the Phone. It boots up normal HTC Logo-->HTC Jingle, but then the Screen wents black. Backlight still on, phone responds to Power button.
In the Bootloader everything is fine. Fastboot etc. works.
So I booted up the phone, connected USB and flashed this RUU http://www.filefactory.com/file/c0a...22U_3822.10.08.04_M_release_225161_signed.exe flashing went fine, Phone booted up. Again Black screen.
Does anybody know what i could do about that? May I have to wipe everything manually? Or should i try an custom Rom like Cyanogenmod?
Thanks for your help!
Try reinstalling the screen, it seems like a hardware issue

Oh great :crying:
Disconnected the Screen again, reinstalled it.
Then I saw a loose pin on the connector. Got that out.
Phone boots up, but no backlight or anything on the screen any more :crying:
Does anybody know how much it would cost to solder an new LCD connector on the board?

So, I have a messed up sensation, reboots itself, not randomly, but when you turn the screen off, or after flashing a new rom for first five minutes until you finish initial set up. Everything works, except bluetooth or wifi. So, it does not restarts, if you charge it, or leave screen on, or you use it until the battery dies. Tried a new battery, no luck. Tried different roms, no luck. And my question is, is there like system log? And can a phone detect that it has a smashed screen and digitizer and restart itself? Yes, the screen is smashed DD Thanks

It seems that you have hw probelms... Maybe you could have damaged some other parts of the phone...

Well, I have taken it apart, everything is fine inside. And I think it would not function at all if something serious was damaged. Just now i finished flashing an ics without sense. It does not reboot for bit longer. You can drain the batt by using it with screen on. Just finished it off with shadowgun. Now I can see an error that appears, but if you charging, it just goes on after you press ok, if you are using it, same thing, but if it happens when screen, restart. com.android.phone stops working, and phone reboots.
Hey guys, I just recently flashed vipers new rom over my previous ARHD 6.6.7 rom, it worked great for about couple hours, then after i unplug my phone from the charger, my whole screen turned static like a tv screen but with all these little dots of different colors. I can still feel the touchscreen working then my phone went dead. I took out the battery and put it back in tried to boot and nothing, the charger wont even seem to charge with no led indicator. After a few tries the battery finally seemed to charge and I booted up the phone and still nothing, i feel the vibrate on a black screen and it took me to the rom with the same static screen showing. I took it to a store and they said it was the LCD screen, but im not so sure. I am s-off rooted Tmobile. Do you guys think its the LCD thats dead or a rom issue? I dont know how to flash it back because I cant see anything. Any ideas how to fix this? thank you.
Remove and replace the battery, then boot into bootloader and 1. see if you can see anything. 2 plug usb to your pc and adb devices from cmd and see what that says.
ok thanks I will try that
Definitely not a ROM problem.

update
Heres an update, I bought an lcd screen on ebay, did the repair myself, turn it on and still the same issue! After that I managed to flash an update RUU for my phone and nothing...So now im guessing its a hardware failure somewhere. Im leaning towards the motherboard. I guess i will take a loss and sell this phone for parts =( Thanks for the suggestion guys.
I just removed the digitizer to clean the dust under the screen. I removed the old adhesive and applied the new one. Now my phone won't boot. I checked, I haven't damaged any flex cables. When I press the power button, the phone vibrates but the screen stays black.
When I connect the charger orange LED comes on and then goes away. The phone seems to be going into reboot as I hear it vibrating.
I did put the sim card backward but I have removed it and reinstalled. Could that cause a short on the main board?
Is there a recovery USB mode or anything I can try.
ok, this is a bad screen. I had swaped the main board on my wifes euro sensation and it worked.
Be extremely careful when you remove digitizer. It is easy to break the screen...
I rooted this phone and installed LeeDrOiD One Supreme which worked absolutely flawlessly for some time. Then the phone was left lying in a drawer for a couple of months. When I turned it on again a few days ago, the display showed a moiree pattern, see attached file. Starting into the bootloader via hotkeys, the display is blank (ie black, nothing showing). When I turn it off by long-pressing the power key, it remains off for approx. 5 seconds, then turns itself on again. No way of keeping it off (until of course it runs out of battery).
However it seemed to start into the bootloader OK, so I used Hasoon2000's brilliant All-In-One Tool to relock my bootloader and re-flashed stock ROM with the appropriate RUU exe. This was successful (I think, because I can now hear the HTC chime on boot) but did not change the problem, moiree still there and still turning itself on after being forced off.
I will add that I have never opened the phone, nor dropped it, or anything like that.
Does anyone have any ideas? A faulty LCD, I could/would replace. Otherwise probably sell it for spares?
i would guess fault on pcb (gpu/cable)not lcd
So, I'm using Mix 3. Oneday the display died and the phone still running well. I'm pretty sure since I can still turn on the flash and accept call by touching the screen, while the screen is totally black.
I tried to mirror the display to windows 10 using Vysor and can confirm the phone is running very well except the screen died, though touch is still working ( tried to touch the icon and I can see through Vysor it still responds)
I ordered a replacement LCD, replaced the faulty one. Strange thing is, the screen is still died, but this time it's turning on and off repeatedly whenever I booted to the system. I tried to boot to TWRP and the screen works well, reflash all the ROM ( I tried a bunch of ROMs, Global stable, China stable, Custom Rom, etc). In TWRP the screen works flawlessly, but whenever I booted into the actual OS, it starts to blink on and off again
I can assure that the replacement screen is not faulty at all, since I tried the replacement screen in other phone and it works well
Any idea?
