However, I'm unable to re root mg device :/ whenever I go into fastboot mode my phone doesn't get recognized by my pc ... I've also tried almost every single driver there is( pdanet, Google drivers, Samsung drivers) and still it won't get recognized :/ any help?

All it says in command prompt is "waiting for device".. I googled how to fix it and the only answer is to install the drivers but I've already installed them and still no luck :/

try to type "adb devices". does any numbers appear?
if yes, your pc is recognizing your nexus.
if not try to unplug all usb from your pc, restart ur pc and try again with only ur phone plugged in

i think u should talk with a dev.

Where did you get fastboot? The SDK Or from one of those things people to toss together for people to root/unlock?
After reading the thread its tough to know for sure if there is anything you can do or we can do to help. So I suggest downloading the latest Android SDK if you have not done so already. If that still don't work or you already have it what does device manager ( on windows) show when your phone is connected to the PC while in the bootloader/fastboot?

I download fastboot and adb from the SDK and I have the most up to date one. Also when in boot loader mode the PC does not show my phone connected.
Btw, my power is broken and I don't know if that might be the problem :/

[Q] Not totally bricked yet, i really need to fix it

Hello guys, i am new here, yes its my first post, yes i have been posting on forums in the past, and yes i want to cry.
I just got this brand new nexus s from Videotron a couples of months back, someone told me to look for Cyanogenmod, i did, i installed it, with superuser rooted/unlocked. loved it, untill recently i rebooted the device due to battery outage, and it was stuck to the google logo, then i opened clockworkmod and did a restore, it worked!
Then, last week, an update was pushed to the phone about jelly beans, (4.1.1), i clicked INSTALL NOW, i was at home, plugged in.
The install failed (Android logo on his back with red triangle warning) i waited 2 hours, it was still there, i had to remove the battery.
Now, Clockworkmod is not starting. (Its the default bootloader (as usual) and the next page (in the RECOVERY option) its the default "Android system recovery <3a>" with those 4 options
-reboot system now
-apply update from /sdcard
-wipe data/factory reset
-wipe cache partition
...
i did them all, tried everything its still not booting.
I tried everything i could find on all the forums, fastboot, adb nvflash... but. when i plug in my device in the pc i don't think its seen by the maching (unless i click the "Turn on USB Storage) BUT I CANT CLICK IT :'(
Model # is GT-i9020T
I really need a pro to help me out, and i promise to give you compensation if you can fix it, via paypal.
I am on facebook daily, on IRC too. msn too,
I don't care if we manage to install ice cream sandwich, jellybean or even freaking BBq peanuts..
I just need a working "facebook machine"
Thank you and ill be looking at this post every hour.

I looked at some tutorials about odin, but i cannot find all the appropriate files for my phone.
Would you be able to point me in the correct direction?
Free advice : you need to install fastboot on your computer.
You can fix this by holding volume up, and then hold power at the same time until you see the bootloader menu.
Then, connect usb, and on computer type fastboot devices
You should get two lines of output. One device is listed something like 359G7HF6824
That means fastboot can see your device.
You need to download cwm recovery.img
Flash it to your phone by typing fastboot flash recovery recovery.img
...which will send recovery.img to 'recovery' partition on your phone.
Now use the volume keys to select recovery option, press power key to select.
In recovery flash a new ROM. Download one from development section if you need to.
If you find any of these steps difficult, please ask for more help.
However, all the help you need can be found by reading through the stickies in Q&A, General, and Development.

Install the PDANet Android drivers, this usually works well.

Then use fastboot to flash a recovery as bedalus wrote.

reinstall drivers and check that when u plug it in, the pc is seeing the nexus go to device manager and see if its recognized mand doesnt have an exclamation sign, if there is one, while plugged in, reinstall the drivers
to learn how to install drivers and getting the correct files: http://nexusshacks.com/nexus-s-root/how-to-root-nexus-s-or-nexus-s-4g-on-ics-or-gingerbread/
or try to flash stock via fastboot (maybe u will need to reinstall the drives, just check if its recognized under device manager):

Well I hope when u say "it doesn't do anything" that u weren't expecting something to pop up on the screen. If it mounts u can only tell by clicking.... My computer then drive "___" its probably drive f or g.
If it pops up then ur good. Add the ROM & gapps.
But worse case do what the previous post suggests.

why use a toolkit on a nexus device? its easier to root your nexus without a toolkit.
1. "fastboot oem unlock" via fastboot unlocks the bootloader.
2. flash a custom recovery via fastboot
3. flash the su binaries(supersu) in your new recovery.
4. reboot and profit, thats it.

You're probably going to have to go into device manager, view hidden, and delete each usb port that is not being used and start over. Don't have your phone connected when you do this. It's a pita. Then reboot your computer, than plug your phone in. Also make sure you're using the usb cable that came with your phone and usb ports in the back of your pc

some people have reported issues if you didnt let the device 'reset' itself after you unlocked the bootloader so it could rebuild the data partition.
its more of a precautionary thing than anything else.

also incase anyone was wondering i was playing with an app called native sbs android witch splits your screen into two so you can use it with google cardboard it needs root and to reboot for the change to take affect but when i rebooted it got stuck on the splash screen and wouldnt go into twrp

[Q] Any root ability on this phone yet?

I don't care much about using custom roms but I do like to root for de-bloating purposes and using titanium backup.
Thanks,
I hope someone picks it up. I got it for a semi decent backup phone. Couldn't resist $199...
Hopefully it's just a waiting game since it was just released.
I tried Kingo, Framaroot, and some MobileGo one. None worked, which is about what I expected.
Just need twrp or some other recovery for it.
how about towelroot?

Holding volume up gets to the android recovery. Not sure if there's another mode behind that.
Seems standard looking for someone who knows what to do...
Does that mean it's possible to flash a rooted lrx22g? Seems it comes up under nexus 7.
Mediatek devices don't have fastboot. Busy scouring the interweb trying to see how other mediatek devices may have been rooted. Quickboot came up so I'm on that tangent as of now...

I tried Kingo, Framaroot, and some MobileGo one. None worked, which is about what I expected.

Did you try kingroot? Thanks.
The bootloader being locked seems to be the problem.
I don't trust the one click apps. Most are malware looking windows programs. Hopefully the ota will get released and not have to be dumped.
You're already on the wrong tangent since this isn't using a mediatek chip

OK then what should be done? Adb shell partition list had a lot of permission denied.

Just tried it, it said it wasn't supported and wouldn't even attempt to root it.

Doesn't seem as though there is a fastboot mode. adb reboot fastboot just restarted the phone.
adb reboot recovery works as shown in earlier images though

Sure. Linux adb. Just enable USB debugging in developer options by clicking build 7 times etc.

I was wrong.
There is a fastboot mode but I can't seem to find any drivers for it that will allow it to show up under "fastboot devices"
How did you get to fastboot mode?
I got a dead Andy with no command trying some different button holds and unplugging while booting recovery.
