Hi,
I'm about to buy the ODROID-X from hardkernel.com which will run Android 4.0.
Now I'm searching for a Touchscreen for the device and I'd like to connect it via USB.
Is this possible with android? I guess I do need a specific driver for that, right?
I found a touchscreen with an Ideacom MODEL UTS6680 chip and there are also
drivers for Linux.
Is there a way to adapt them to Android?
Does anybody know another touchscreen that runs on Android?
Thanks!
Hans

I'd like to connect to android powered tablet several peripherals (through micro usb I guess) like: couple of rs-232 ports, keyboard and even one rj12 port.. as I guess it's possible to create usb-hub-device to all this functions, and develop drivers for it.. I just never dealt with stuff like this before. What of it is possible and mb android have built-in support of some interfaces and devices..? goal is to make cheapest solid touch tablet based complete device.
For this to work, your Phone needs special USB-OTG-capable hardware. I doubt it has. If you don't know what it is and why it is definitely needed, google for USB OTG (on-the-go).
Of course, a simple USB host connector would do as well, but no phone has one (but some tablets do).
No android phone out now has USB host support, nor the drivers to run any peripherals.
thx for answrs, looks like its possible but I need to port usbhost module to device kernel.. and perpherals drivers modules too.
I've got a question I have not been able to find a definitive answer to.
Everyday other day on a blog I read I am seeing someone has created a robot controlled via an application running on a iPhone/Android, using either Bluetooth or Wifi.
But my question is, can an android device function as a wired remote via the usb port?
Is there any IO class for the USB port that can be used to turn on various things and read back various sensor information given the propper platform?
Am I seeking USB Host mode or is that something else?
My goal is to have an android device running an application monitoring various sensors and controlling various other hardware devices with a nice touch screen interface if possible. Since the phone would be located with the control hardware using Bluetooth for this seems silly if I am able to use USB and a cable from the Android Device to the Control Hardware, essentially making the android device the brains.
thanks in advance guys!
Nobody has any feedback on this?
Hey folks, i have a Dell Inspiron N5050 here, and it had no OS on it, so i put Windows 7 on it, and the wireless adapter is not recognized(doesn't show up in device manager). Obviously the driver won't install because the hardware isn't recognized by Windows(i got the driver from the Dell website). i was able to install the ethernet driver, so i can get online that way. I should also add that wifi works out of the box in Linux Mint booted off a USB stick. Also, wifi works fine on other machines with the same copy of Windows 7.
Linux will be my main OS, but does anyone know how to get Windows to recognize the wireless adapter?
The other thing i've noticed is that Network Controller doesn't have a driver installed, and the device is unknown and a driver can't be found,
I've definitely been scouring the internet as i always do, but haven't found the fix yet. Thanks in advance.
I got it working, the driver from Dell's website didn't work, it was a Broadcom i believe, but i found the driver for the standard Dell wireless card, and it found the hardware upon installing.
Hi guys,
I bought this miniPC that dual boots Windows 10 and Android (kitkat). The problem is, I've got this age old cyberlink remote that works with an IR usb receiver and I've always used it with xbmc/kodi on all my devices including PC, Android boxes and Raspberry Pi.
On this Cenovo MiniPC it's working fine under the Windows OS, but does absolutely nothing under Android. I'm guessing it's missing the IR driver or something..
Is there a way to add support or some driver for it?
Thanks
What I really want to know is whether it is a hardware problem, or a software problem. Could I plug my android phone into a computer via USB and have it act as a hardware keyboard. I do not want to install anything on the computer, I want android to behave like the standard hardware.
Clarification I want to write a program/library for android that enables the device to fully emulate an ordinary keyboard, so that the operating system reports it as a standard keyboard device, and it would work in the BIOS or anywhere else that a keyboard works.
