cooked my first ROM :D - HTC Sensation

nothing special (hence general and not dev section)
started with AOKP, deleted A BUNCH of uselessness, added some google apps, changed settings background, very very minor framework tweaking, gps tweak, replaced boot animation (using the black htc one), updated/replaced/removed some lib files and thats about it
if people are interested ill upload it, but again, its basically AOKP minus junk.
next step: integrate bricked kernel
after that: learn to build from source! - this is when ill upload it out of pride
i love the settings background

now what i need from XDA: at the top, between the settings button and the X, how can i get it to show the date? i remember i tried a rom that had it there (i think virtuous inquisition):

Looks awesome, and I love the settings background.
To be honest I prefer the "Slim" builds, so I'll definitely be interested in using your Rom.
Well done chef!
Regards.
(And with reference to the missing Status-bar date, it seems it was not present in AOKP M6 on any build for some reason.)

yea i dont think CM9 has it either. it was a cool feature of virtuous inquisition
obviously its a very minor and subjective issue though
EDIT: building from source is a lot harder than i thought

Keep at it dude, pretty soon it'll become second nature. I would try, but I feel that my computer skills aren't all that great lol

[Port]KaosGingerbread 3/30 [WIP]

So i was toying around with one of the kitchens on my linux box and was able to port kaos gingerbread to the heroc, it is pretty close to pure aosp i decided to post it up because i can
you can check out punk.kaos' original work/thread here
as i am not a dev i have no idea what the next steps would be to fixing some of the remaining issues but so far it seems to work (my hero is not connected to a network so their are things i cant inherently test)
what doesnt work
-bluetooth audio (connects but no audio pass through)
-LED notifications
-USB mass storage (still works in kernel so its def something user space i just dont know what files control it)
-camera just white screens ( a job for somebody way more skilled than I)
-gallery3d freaks out when changing orientation
unless stuff is a simple fix (like moving files from 1 rom to another) (i still have an aospGBmod version on my comp) it likely wont get fixed unless a dev wants to help out
other than those issues it seems to run fine

Thank You!
Finally a non CM Ver of Gingerbread!!!
im happy about it too, but sadly their is some stuff that needs to be fixed that is above my scope of work
Good luck on this! Jasonmaloney is also trying to accomplish this. Great to see devs still interested in our little heros.

So basically, this is what we have to look forward too from AospCMod? From what I read in 5 minutes, Kaos basically did the same as Aosp does and based it from Cyanogenmod 7. Hes just brought it alot closer to Vanilla than Aosp so far.

[REQ] Chacha Lockscreen with shortcuts

Has anyone noticed that the Chacha Lockscreen seems to be the same as the Sense 3.0 with shortcuts?

It looks like it is also running 2.1 Sense. It may be a good idea to check this out and see if we can port some of the stuff over to the 2.1 roms.

Im downloading now and will be trying stuff out, but I dont expect to make much headroom - Since i barely know what I am doing.
Someone else want to get in on this?
I'm pretty sure it's HVGA.

Absolutely, But the Kingdom ROM isn't our size either and it worked. just thinking that maybe we can use some of the back bone and throw in some images, maybe from the Doubleshot port or something.
Again... I am very ignorant. So forgive me for talking out of my ass. Just trying to think outside the box here.

Awesome. Im just thinking it might be worth a look. If it turns out to be a dead end, I am sorry.
If you need any of the specific files from the rom, let me know, I have it pulled apart here.
I tried to install the apk unmodified and it installed but doesnt include any shortcuts.
I do not see those "Idlescreen" Apks that i thought were responsible for lockscreen notification and animations.
What about the salsa Rom, its also a sense 2.1 with ginger 2.3 and has the 3.0 lockscreen , and the best part is that it fits on portrait phones. Not like chacha which is a landscape view mod.

MIUIv4 screenshots!(ICS)

Well I was on facebook, amd droiddog posted this, im not going to post the screenshots here but... i will give you guys a link on where to obtain them!
http://www.google.com/m?hl=hd&gl=us...=android-browser-type&action=devloc&q=miui+v4
Im excited as i always seem to go back to the original MIUI rom for the 3D.. what about you guys?

Sorry that is the link... im on my phone atm!

It looks nice. I've always considered MIUI to be the marriage of Android's usability with Apple's design...but then I saw Ice Cream Sandwich. Even these screenshots don't dissuade me, as nice as they are.
I have to say, though, that the MIUI team is really good at design.
I've ran miui on my phone before cm9 came and out I'm looking forward to the miui ics release. I love how much you can customize miui.
I love my Nexus S more and more everyday!
How will MIUI implement the multitasking UI? I'm guessing they will put their own spin on it but I am wondering if they have released any materials regarding this.

lets hope they will release this for the htc desire
I heart MIUI that was my go to rom for my D1. Now that the dev are getting close to getting it to the X2 I'm really looking forward to some more MIUI fix.

then i meet MIUI.... never gonna look back!
hope MIUI v4 can out before Christmas

Awesome! You just love to port stuff, don't you?

lol, i guess. Summer Break is coming so hopefully I can use the extra time and bring a few more ROMs over. Atleast until I get a One X
P.S. Expect a new port in the next 2 days or so
You do a lot of stuff like this, and I really appreciate being able to try new things! It keeps my old aria looking fresh every once in a while. Because of new ROMs I don't end up dumping cash on a new phone!
I am not trying to seem rude, but I'd like to know more about this ROM before I try it. From the description you posted, it seems like a skinned CM port. What else is there?
Sent from my Liberty using xda premium
It's pretty much CM7 with a great notification widget system, data meter, and a nice-looking launcher and replacement settings, music, and most other core apps. It's fantastic coming from CM7 or FroYo, but from CM9, it's just alright.
im gonna try it, doing a nand right now, gonna flash it in a few. i will post status tomorrow.
installed, pretty cool so far. I like the layouts for the menus and the launcher is incredibly smooth with no tweaking. Looks pretty like MiUi too. A few translation errors and some apps appear to be entirely in chinese.
SD manager force closes. And what he said above...

Sorry guys, looks like my phone finally died T-T Looks like I'm going to have to move on. (probs to the one x) I'll try to continue to dev for you guys blind, but i don't think that will turn out well lol

they are the stock ones yes i just played with them to make them pop a little better but yeah im a simplistic person so i am not going wild on this rom but it will be a bit different. I dont like crazy i actually enjoy cm10 and vanilla android so its not going to stray way too far.
